Put it to the People March 23rd March

www.peoples-vote.uk/march

While it's cutting things rather fine, the next People's vote is on March 23rd. It's clear the politicians have no clue. They still can't agree on what brexit should look like. Time to take it back to the people.

To people who respond to tell me things like 'we won, get over it',
I'd like to thank you in advance for bumping the thread.

Interesting to compare this petition with others. The leave with no deal one is months old.

Peridot1 · 21/03/2019 07:40

Brian Cox tweeted the petition last night. Am sure he added a fair few signatories to it.

Peregrina · 21/03/2019 07:49

All of my (few) Leave friends point- blank refuse to enter into debate.

Same here, but how many will bother to turn out to vote another time? I will guarantee that they will start whining when food and medicine shortages hit.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2019 07:54

Forecast for Saturday, dry, perhaps cloudy, temps around 12c. Perhaps just a little gusty at times so secure those placards well.

still contemplating - although coach from glasgow now full so would probably need to drive. waaah! have a lot of work to do that wouldn't be getting done if i burn 2 full days going to London...

Runningintothesunset · 21/03/2019 08:32

I’ve decided to go - for those travelling down by train, what sort of time do you think we’d need to be at Euston by?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2019 08:49

Running, anytime from 11am on I think. The march won't leave until 1pm so it depends on how long you want to wait around. The back of the march may well be much longer than that. The walk is about 40 mins.
The only thing I'll say is that at the Iraq war, which had what I expect will be similar numbers, Waterloo station had the most epic toilet queue.

City Mapper is a really good app for timings, but make your trip available offline cos we will definitely lose signal at the march.

Don't forget mobile phone battery packs if you have one. Immensely frustrating on the way back to run out of battery when you are knackered and just want to post photos and browse the news.

We're driving to London from The North! Hoping to join up with the contingent from our region which should be very large (many coaches), but maybe I'll carry a red toothbrush too, just in case.

So is the consensus that gathering near the start point on Park Lane from 12-1pm is might possibly be too early? (We'll have two 9-year-olds with 9-year-old amounts of patience).

Good point about the battery packs - must remember to charge up every pack in the house!

Toooldtobearsed2 · 21/03/2019 09:46

@TheElementsSong, and anyone else from up here, i am travelling from Durham by coach. We are being put down as close to Park Lane as possible. The other coaches are being dropped at North West corner of Hyde Park.
North East for Europe will be meeting on North Row and Park Lane Junction near the North East corner of Hyde Park at 11.30 (138 Park Ln, Mayfair, London W1K 7AS) and walking together to show solidarity. Heart placards will be distributed on board the bus, bearing various anti brexit messages.

Littlespaces · 21/03/2019 10:17

They are asking if people will bring county flags if you are travelling from afar, to show it isn't just Londoners attending.

Just ordered one on Amazon to arrive tomorrow.

TheElementsSong · 21/03/2019 10:47

Thanks for the information tooold Smile I believe our regional group is meeting very close to there as well. We’re deciding what to put on our placards but would be nice if our group are also handing out hearts for the DC to carry.

Ellie56 · 21/03/2019 10:51

Those travelling by car may need to factor in the Brexit go slow protest on the motorways...

From past experience, if there is a blockade in my area alone (M1East Midlands) it will bring the whole surrounding area to a standstill. Sad

LoonvanBoon · 21/03/2019 11:02

Ellie56, yes. We were planning on driving down Fri night and staying at a friend's in London but the planned go slow is one of a number of factors that seem to be conspiring against us.

I thought it was just the Leeds to Sheffield section of the M1 on Fri night and that we might be able to set off early enough to avoid this: but have just read that there are plans to block M1 Junctions 26-28 on Fri from 6.30pm too.

I'm having an interstitial cystitis flare up which is probably enough on its own to make it impossible, to be honest, unless I improve a load in the next two days. But the thought of being stuck in a car for hours in a jam without access to loos is nighmarish.

Anyone who went on the Autumn March - is it fairly easy to dip out of the crowds and get to loos? This isn't normally an issue for me - had been in remission for over 18 months - but when I'm in a flare I get a lot of pain and need to go a lot more. I can't believe this has happened now Sad as whole family is desperate to march.

And so angry about the f*ing lorry drivers.

TheElementsSong · 21/03/2019 11:07

Considering whether we need to set off earlier on Friday PM to avoid the go-slow on the M1. Is it actually going to be a thing or just angry blowhards with tiny cocks?

Ellie56 · 21/03/2019 11:11

If you google brexit lorry protest loads of links come up to local news for different areas.

TheElementsSong · 21/03/2019 11:15

I read the Yorkshire Post report earlier this eeek and it says they’re blockading on Saturday.

StripeyChina · 21/03/2019 11:18

oh, it's back, sorry:

nearly 750,000!

TheElementsSong · 21/03/2019 11:18

Sorry meant to adresss @LoonvanBoon in particular, sounds like you’re driving down from Yorkshire on Friday afternoon like us. So if the YP report is accurate, there shouldn’t be disruption on Friday. Fingers crossed.

LoonvanBoon · 21/03/2019 11:19

I read about the Junctions 26-28 one on The NottinghamPost online. It claimed 50 vehicles have signed up for it and they're starting from 6.30pm. The Leeds- Sheffield one I read about on The Yorkshire post online but it said only a couple of vehicles had signed up as yet.

We're in Yorkshire and go down the M1 quite a bit to visit PIL in Gloucestershire. It really doesn't take much, esp in the E. Midlands area, as Ellie says, to bring it all to a standstill.

If you're able to go earlier it sounds like a good idea to me. We can't but, if we do go, we're wondering about setting off much later and doing the drive into the night. We have teen sons so a late night wouldn't be a problem. DH might be - he'll be driving and gets so tired in the evening after work.

LoonvanBoon · 21/03/2019 11:20

Cross posted TheElements. There are two Fri night go slows I've read about, in addition to the Sat one.

TheElementsSong · 21/03/2019 11:25

Thanks for the info Loon - have just had a look at that, I think we’ll risk it. With Google Maps to help with plotting a course if need be. We know that part of the midlands pretty well as used to love around there.

Also find it grimly amusing that these Brexiteering fuckwits think pissing off thousands of tired rush hour commuters is the way to win hearts and minds.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/03/2019 11:29

Can people in the east of the country use the A1 instead? And those in the east Mids zip across to the M6 either via Stoke or the M69? Might make it doable?

LoonvanBoon · 21/03/2019 11:31

Angry blowhards with tiny cocks just made me laugh anyway - and that's a first for today!

Brexitisshit · 21/03/2019 11:34

There must be so many coaches going - the coaches list on the People’s Vote site only seems to list each area once, but I know our town is expecting to send at least 6 coaches.
