Put it to the People March 23rd March

www.peoples-vote.uk/march

While it's cutting things rather fine, the next People's vote is on March 23rd. It's clear the politicians have no clue. They still can't agree on what brexit should look like. Time to take it back to the people.

To people who respond to tell me things like 'we won, get over it',
I'd like to thank you in advance for bumping the thread.

@RhubarbCrumbled
@OhYouBadBadKitten

I'd advise you try to meet up a little bit away from the March, maybe knightsbridge or somewhere. Last time it was so crowded on Park Lane meet ups were very difficult.

KennDodd · 16/03/2019 11:02

Might be worth starting a new thread, MN meet up before the March so a whole group can see.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/03/2019 12:25

For logistics sakes I think it is easiest if we can help people arrange to meet up at their arrival into London points (especially as I'll have others with me too)

So if we can sort by Paddington arrivals, Victoria arrivals, Waterloo arrivals etc for the train people.

If there is an appetite for a large single MN meet up near the march instead I'm happy to help organise, but I won't be able to participate in that due to real life coordinating too, so we need a lead person for that.

Thanks for the heads up re getmetothemarch. I travel to London every day and have a season ticket so it effectively costs me nothing to go next Saturday; I have donated my fare as I would happily pay it!

BestIsWest · 16/03/2019 14:21

Thanks fr the crowd funding link. Have contributed. Was hoping to be there but have my arm in a sling and can’t contemplate 10 hours on a coach. Gutted not to be there, the last one was amazing.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2019 14:43

I'm in a sling but will go by train if I go. I wouldn't do that long on a coach either!

borntobequiet · 16/03/2019 15:23

Situation a bit fluid for me during the morning so won’t make arrangements to meet anyone but you will know me (if you see me) by the red tooth brush stuck in my hair. Last time DD described it as “jaunty” (ie ridiculous).

SweetestThing · 16/03/2019 15:28

I'll be there with DH. Both of us wearing "Citizen of Europe" t-shirts so easy to spot, hehe....

There are always loads of families with children of all ages, you should be fine. Join towards the end at the start (iyswim), and if it gets a bit noisy at any point it’s easy to slip away down a side street for a bit.

Peregrina · 16/03/2019 16:48

They have all been very family friendly so far. My impression is that more coaches are going this time, and I was staggered last time that we got 700,000 ish. I had been hoping to myself that we would get 100,000.
Some of the coaches are going from places which I know voted Leave.

Theweatherman it's perfectly family friendly. This will be my DDs 4 th march. Dipping in and out for snacks etc is no problem.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/03/2019 17:42

They are very family friendly :) A top tip is to work out where the loos are before you start cos the signal can get a bit iffy.

On the map at the bottom www.peoples-vote.uk/march they've got a layer for toilets and water points.

Has anyone found a kids EU hoodie for sale anywhere?

Unescorted · 16/03/2019 17:59

Just booked my ticket … see you there!

Toooldtobearsed2 · 16/03/2019 18:06

Daft question - i will be doing a 10hour round journey so will want to bring phone/ drink/ shite can i get away with a small back pack, dont really want to carry a bag, but fear my coat pockets cannot take the strain😐
Last marching I did was local, so I just nipoed home for a cuppa😁

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/03/2019 18:09

Absolutely you can TooOld, most people seem to have backpacks.
They can be very hand to pin mini placards to too.
I bring snacks, water, my coffee cup, some coins for the loo (but london rail stations are making it free now) and wear my comfiest shoes. An extra charger for your phone can be hand too with such a long journey.

Brilliant, thank you @OhYouBadBadKitten
I know it sounds ridiculous, but this sort of quandry gives me sleepless nights😂😂

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2019 18:22

I'm considering bringing 5 yo DD. But as I only have one working hand I'm not sure it's a great idea as I'd prefer to be able to keep hold of her hand, but that's not possible with only one!

She's quite sensible though and I wouldn't let go if it was rammed.

Unescorted · 16/03/2019 18:32

Toold on the October march I took a small rucksack.
I would suggest taking a bottle of water.... It took us about 40 minutes in the queue for the shop en route.
I also took a pack up lunch
I had lots of friends on the way back because I had a battery bank....

BestIsWest · 16/03/2019 19:45

Definitely take water but don’t drink too much in case you need the loo!

And unless you’re near the front of the March I would duck out at Trafalgar Square. We got stuck halfway down Whitehall and had to turn back to get our coach - it was hard going against the flow of people.

I loved the EU flag berets that lots of people had. They should be easy to make too. Though I would really like to make a hat like the queen had when she trolled parliament.

Peregrina · 16/03/2019 20:10

You can also duck out opposite Downing Street. This was as far as we got last time. This didn't matter to me, we swelled the numbers.
