Westminstenders: Competitive Stupidity

RedToothBrush · 10/02/2019 16:00

A week of wondering which MP is going to be the most dumb.

There is stiff competition between parties and remain / leave.

Expect incredible bids of ignorance and incompetence to curl your toes, with a bit of constitutional craziness thrown in for good measure.

Valentine's Day beckons...

... And so does the No Deal Divorce.

Doubling down on the use of the word "globalisation ", I see. Got a problem with Jewish people, have you?

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 16:28

Bellin

Sorry, I haven't got a clue what you're on about.

I may be wrong but are you suggesting globalisation isn't real and is just a Jewish conspiracy? I'm not sure.

“As with much to do with Brexit, there is much harking back to a ‘golden age’ before the EU and before the CFP. The reality is that this ‘golden age’ never existed, that many of the problems are of UK rather than European making and that any sensible fisheries management will have the same central pillars as exist in the CFP. UK fishers and the British people would be better served if debate around future fisheries management was based on fact, rather than a rose-tinted view of the past.”

bellinisurge · 11/02/2019 16:31

I explained below that "globalisation " is code for "international Jewish conspiracy ". It's a thinly veiled word bandied about by extremists . And obviously picked up by people who don't know any better.

RedToothBrush · 11/02/2019 16:32

The EU is somewhat protectionist and is doing lots currently to work against tax evasion and is trying to take on some of the negative elements of the corporate nature of business. By having set standards to protect the people and working as a bloc which can compete with the super powers of the US and China and Corporate superpowers like Facebook and Apple.

Being outside of that means MORE corporate global shite. I'm yet to hear an explanation of why it doesn't. I'd be fascinated to hear how it's structured and how it'd work.

Brexit enables corporations to feast upon the flesh of the ordinary person. Not just make money for the rich.

Idealism is nice. It's quaint.

Trouble is, in case you've not being paying attention, we have a government where most of the MPs are champions for these nasty type of corporation and are lobbying for them. Mainly cos they have massive shares in them, locked up off shore somewhere so they don't have to pay tax in the UK.

Reality 2019. Its a bit of a bastard.

@ParlyApp
@AngelaRayner serious concerns were revealed this weekend about Reading University and there are reports of at least three others facing serious risk of insolvency. The consequences of such a failure would be disastrous for students staff and local economies

Has anyone heard anything on Reading or the other universities?

Destiel · 11/02/2019 16:34

Hazard 😂😂

Destiel · 11/02/2019 16:34

Would you like some lemon drizzle?

(Mum mode)

TheElementsSong · 11/02/2019 16:35

Mysteriously, still no link to the Document to Answer Them All, which we were so emphatically "reminded" of - where is the 500-page Brexit White Paper?

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 16:37

Bellin

Globalisation is where the Corporate world will get your iPhone built in China for $60 (free suicide nets in the factories) and then sell it to you in the UK for £650.00 and doesn't really have much to do with Jewish people.

it also encourages things like immigration through Foreign Policy where with a steady influx of people from poorer countries Corporations can keep their wage costs down. Again, very little to do with Jewish people.

Or are you having me on?

1tisILeClerc · 11/02/2019 16:37

{Would you like some lemon drizzle?}
Wot, no flapjacks?
I am (almost) disappointed.

Destiel · 11/02/2019 16:38

Tut tut...

I have flapjacks too, leclerc

until ds1 sees it anyway

I agree, which is why we have our political parties tearing themselves apart.

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 16:40

Businesses go bust every day. Why is this even news ?

This is what happens when everything becomes a business. Education, social care, healthcare, child care ... as long as we can put a price on it, we can sell it.

TheElementsSong · 11/02/2019 16:40

We baked shortbread this weekend. They're the easiest biscuit, and deliciously buttery.

Oh, and anybody seen that 500-page Brexit White Paper?

1tisILeClerc · 11/02/2019 16:41

Anyone catch the Hungarian announcement that if you raise 4 children you will be exempt from tax (I forget which one, possibly income tax) for life.

bellinisurge · 11/02/2019 16:42

@1tisILeClerc , that would be the E.U. forcing us all to have more children Grin

1tisILeClerc · 11/02/2019 16:42

{Oh, and anybody seen that 500-page Brexit White Paper?}
I have a ream of paper on the table here it has Mrs May's full plans written on it (blank).

StepLadders007 · 11/02/2019 16:43

God bless those cheeky Hungarians. They're great.

1tisILeClerc · 11/02/2019 16:43

Grow your own carers, it's not a new idea.

Now that's cheeky, Hungary.

DGRossetti · 11/02/2019 16:44

We had our last but one serving of meatballs yesterday, so a batch cookup looms .. (I say cookup, but they're frozen raw). Week after it'll be a bolognese (12 cartons).

Much as I'd love to make cake(s) my waistline won't take it. And DW hasn't really got a sweet tooth. (Mind you, having tasted what passes for confectionery now days, neither have I).
