In fairness, my mother couldn't cope with not having potatoes, so heard rice was cheap, which we had religiously.
2 Yellow pack burgers, frozen peas, rice and gravy!!!!

I was very skinny for a few years lol.

Midgebabe. You're the first person I've seen to admit to who actually caused this.

aethelgifu · 31/01/2019 21:37

Christ! Why all the angst!

Because gosh darnit, some people actually give a fuck if they stand to lose their fucking jobs and homes from the stupidity of this self-inflicted economic suicide.

LOL @ freezer meals. The fucking freezer doesn't work in a power cut.

There are people who are relying on foodbanks in greater and greater numbers and can't afford to stockpile and you're banging on about how this is going to be some cute form of character building?

Fucking hell some people sniff glue.

LadyandGent · 31/01/2019 21:40

Maybe think about who you vote for then eh?

OP posts:
PortiaCastis · 31/01/2019 21:41

You have to have food to put in the freezer not stuck in lorries at the border

aethelgifu · 31/01/2019 21:43

Maybe think about who you vote for then eh?

What are you on? Do you think people are so stupid they didn't consider who they voted for? The mind boggles.

Agree, Portia, and you need power to keep the freezer running.

DippyAvocado · 31/01/2019 21:43

Or we could just stay in the EU and not have to "survive" anything.

Imagine if pre-referendum we'd been told that the best leaving the EU could offer is "survival". Wonder why they didn't stick that on the side of a bus.

GD12 · 31/01/2019 21:44

If this is true, it'll be more than a recession.

Whether you like it or not, we're like an articulated truck going 60mph trying to brake at a train track.

Who caused it? Midge answered that.
Do I like it? Ye, I'm fucking dancing in the moonlight, naked, thanking the God of Poverty.
Who voted the Tories into power? Many Remainers incidentally.
Who didn't vote the Tories into power. Many of the Leavers.

Can I fucking survive this? Yes. I've survived worse.

KennDodd · 31/01/2019 21:46

Do you think people are so stupid they didn't consider who they voted for

Actually I think plenty of people are that stupid.

LadyandGent · 31/01/2019 21:49

I guarantee, that Waitrose won't exist in 3 years.
Lidl and Aldi won't give a shit about us as we're out of the EU.
Tesco can't afford to operate.

Zombies emerge. Noodle fed zombies.

And the yellow pack burgers managed to rear a physicist (and moi).

So many responses to this. So little time.

PortiaCastis · 31/01/2019 21:50

I did a lot of research before I voted and I expect most people on here did.

I'm still upset at the loss of my Polish friend who has gone back home because of brexiteer racism as I've posted on other threads she had her car daubed with go home polak and other racist obscenities.
Is this what we've become, where young women are hounded out because of fucking brexit?

Scandaloso · 31/01/2019 21:50

I really don't get this 'we survived black death and we survived world wars so we'll bally well survive Brexit!' shtick (and of course from people who have no memory of WWII) people are coming out with now that it's blindingly clear Brexit has no upsides.

Utterly pointless and utterly avoidable act of national self harm.

England needs a therapist.

aethelgifu · 31/01/2019 21:51

Can I fucking survive this? Yes. I've survived worse.

Star
PortiaCastis · 31/01/2019 21:51

Indeed Vanguard indeed

KennDodd · 31/01/2019 21:53

Is this what we've become

Yes we have and the wind is in the sails of the people who hold these views.

aethelgifu · 31/01/2019 21:54

I really don't get this 'we survived black death and we survived world wars so we'll bally well survive Brexit!' shtick (and of course from people who have no memory of WWII)

Exactly and the salient point being that in fact, a lot of people didn't survive those calamities.

LadyandGent · 31/01/2019 21:59

Has anyone a breakdown of Tory Yes/No vs Labour Yes/No to Brexit.

This was a Tory idea. It's a Tory party that can't seem to be chucked out.. It's the public school boys. That's what it is, when they decided to allow the entire school to vote for them, they got in, then they pushed through their insane 1st year project. And hell no, they mis-read the public.

Then............

We keep the Tories in! Lol
It's so funny actually. The stupidity of Tory voters.

Then again, empty vessel makes most sound. And my how they billow at Westminster.

PortiaCastis · 31/01/2019 22:00

Unfortunately you're correct Ken and it's disgusting, I helped my good friend wash that rubbish from her car and I never want to see any human being that upset again but now she's gone after being here for 15years and paying tax etc it's fucking disgusting !

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 31/01/2019 22:03

I don't have a lot of memories of the 80's recession but I barely survived the recent austerity. Brief rejoicing to hear it was officially "over". Only to be followed by the Brexit madness. Hopefully I'll live to tell the tale regardless which version of brexit we may be getting. And then we can look forward to the next magnificent thing our Lords and Saviours the Tories have planned for us.

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 31/01/2019 22:05

I survived the 80s recession too. But I want so, so much better for my little boy.

KennDodd · 31/01/2019 22:08

PortiaCastis

Frankly I think your friend is probably better off leaving given the country we've turned into. People are much more confident to voice racist views, they have probably always held these opinions it's just that Brexit seems to have given the permission to say them out loud.

BrieAndOatcakes · 31/01/2019 22:10

2 yellow pack burgers eh? Obviously not 'brain food' then

Although a lot of them probably contained brains.

lonelyplanetmum · 31/01/2019 22:11

It struck me today as I imagined the supermarket shelves looking radically different. This whole shift from being the 5 th strongest economy to let's try out our survival skills. It fits in with the whole I'm a celebrity surviving in the jungle, Ray Mears and also all the living back in time programmes.

It's like there's some weird collective punishment thing going on. Some weird collective psychology.

BollocksToBrexit · 31/01/2019 22:13

I remember the 80s. Wearing flipflops in the winter and telling people it was because they were more comfortable and I didn't feel the cold. When in fact I was fucking freezing and didn't have any money for shoes.
