I think voting leave was stupid and everything that has happened since has shown this.
The people I know who voted both leave and Labour weren't stupid people in the round, they were people who made a stupid choice. They were fed up, wanted better life chances for their DC, had been treated with what they felt was respect for the first time by a political person, bj visited and shook hands after decades of being ignored by all parties. They were offered easy solutions to difficult problems and they took them.
I think there has been a major disconnect between the urban southern Labour areas and leaders and the more working class midland and northern areas for some time. The vote just highlighted it.
Just as there is a disconnect between urban Tory voters and those in North Yorkshire for example.

If I am correct the 29 March is the latest that the UK can revoke A50 and a decision either way could happen anytime before March. Surely if the government weren't a bunch of spineless cretins they should have been bold with their assertions that the UK doesn't need the EU and could have taken the UK out of the EU a day or two after A50 was called?
Why haven't they done this since leaving is such a brilliant plan. Just think all that money that could have gone to the NHS.
I suppose no flights or food from the EU but hey blue passports.

The definition of stupid is having the winning hand and still managing to lose surely. If Remain is the best option and the Remainers lost .......

Well lying buses didn't help. And anyone who believed the bus 9and we know there are some) really needs to explain why they believed that over anything else ? Or indeed believed it at all when we're told the mantra of Leavers was that they felt betrayed by politicians.

1tislLeClerc yep 29 March is last Revoke date. If TM had any convictions she would already be threatening Revoke to avoid Hard Brexit.

If she wins still a very good chance the WA fails and the clock runs out courtesy of the ERG / DUP.

OR Labour etc trigger GE with No Confidence vote.

Don't understand Tory Remain logic in keeping her because I don't see how they get what they want from her.

Icantreachthepretzels · 12/12/2018 17:19

The definition of stupid is having the winning hand and still managing to lose surely. If Remain is the best option and the Remainers lost ..

Well yes - but they lost against an illegally funded campaign of lies that spread bullshit emotions to stupid people. Were remain leaders short sighted to not realise the danger? definitely. Does that make remain voters as stupid as leave ones? Not in the least. We are not the ones who believed the lies and brought the country to this parlous state. If you voted leave then you voted for the cluster fuck that is today and you voted for whatever the hell will happen hereafter. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by pretending mistakes were equally made by voters on both sides. They weren't. You voted to destroy the country. Well done. Angry

1tisILeClerc · 12/12/2018 17:20

My point was that if the UK had any balls and conviction over the promises made the UK could have exited already.

howabout · 12/12/2018 17:22

No DC/GO were already doing a grand job of destroying the country. The EU wasn't stopping them.

"She(TM) had no leadership skills, and she closes her self off in a time of crisis where she needed to be a good diplomat and bring parliament together. This shit show is utterly the fault of the Tories, this party should be dismantled. The party is an absolute joke, and mainly filled with self entitled cousins of the queen who don't know their arse from their elbow. How anyone can vote again in a general election for this shambolic party I have no idea."

Quoting from the other thread and pretty much sums up my view.

Icantreachthepretzels · 12/12/2018 17:25

Because we were are and always will be sovereign to make our own mistakes. The EU regulations such as worktime directives and workers rights and health and safety regulations were protecting us from the very worst a tory government could do if they had nothing to hold them back, however. You voted to remove those protections and let the tories rule over us completely unchecked. Enjoy the bonfire of red tape.

You have always been clear that you will take back control of your Greek salad, your pizza and your croissants. That's the mandate you've been given and people just want you to get on with it. It's the only deal on the table.

Not sure why Tory party members think their views count anymore now than in the past 2 years ? Frankly who gives a shit what they think ?

You really think the Tories can win the next election??????

I think the next election is not guaranteed until 2022 and an awful lot of terrible shit can happen between then and now. I think at the time of the EU ref the next election was due in 2020 - and anyone voting for something in 2016 on the basis of what might happen in 2020/2022 is an even bigger fucking idiot than I realised. In 2016 - with no promise of election for another 4 years - you voted to remove all the restraints holding the tories in place. What may or may not happen in the future (and any election right now would by no means guarantee a decimation of the tories - it would probably result in another hung parliament) is immaterial to what you voted for in 2016 - i.e giving the conservative government of the day free reign to do what it pleased with British people's human rights. And look where it has got you.
