jasjas1973 Why should we pay more so they can buy luxury goods that many people here can’t afford, then they can also come here earn more money than we can going there and they receive better benefits and free healthcare which they don’t get in their own country

bellinisurge · 04/12/2018 14:51

@Hesta54 - and you think we will be able to afford these things when we leave the EU?
PS spoiler alert: what you have described is how capitalism works. I lived in E Europe when the Soviet Union ran the show. It was shit.

MyOtherProfile · 04/12/2018 14:53

@Hesta54 i cant even begin to address the lack of understanding in your pretend question there.

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 14:53

"Why should we pay more so they can buy luxury goods that many people here can’t afford, then they can also come here earn more money than we can going there and they receive better benefits and free healthcare which they don’t get in their own country"

We pay less than 1% of all public spending into the EU net, without our membership and increased barriers to trade this is likely to disappear out of the tax take.

EU immigrants are also net contributors to the exchequer as a group.

BTW benefits here and healthcare are poorer than in many EU countries, very few come here to get benefits, as such EU immigrants are under represented on all benefits claimant counts as a % of the working population.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 14:54

MyOtherProfile Sorry I don’t know what you are talking about

MyOtherProfile · 04/12/2018 14:54

@Hesta54 that is painfully clear from your posts.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 14:56

BorisBogtrotter I do wish you people would get out in the real world instead of sprouting made up stats.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 14:57

MyOtherProfile No, still don’t get it

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 14:58

bellinisurge I let you know, when we’ve left, then we can all see the truth one way or another.

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 14:58

"It’s amazing that a figure like 9 billion gets chucked about as I’ve it’s nothing, while we’ve people in poverty and using food banks"

Because £9bn is a relatively small figure.

Equating it with food banks and poverty is an appeal to emotion.

Argument fail.

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 14:59

"I do wish you people would get out in the real world instead of sprouting made up stats."

Except they aren't made up, you can check them if you want.

Appeal to common sense fail.

MyOtherProfile · 04/12/2018 15:00

Bless you @Hesta54 we can see you don't get it from the arguments you're putting out there. Maybe best to leave it to those who do get it.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 15:01

BorisBogtrotter So I am ment to believe made up stats over real life experience

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 15:03

They aren't made up stats, they come from the government using the data from benefit claimants and HMRC.

Real life experience is tinged by your own personal prejudices.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 15:03

MyOtherProfile What are you on about, your not making any sense, sorry

Quietrebel · 04/12/2018 15:03

hesta

From the CBI website, loads of stats for you to mull over

www.cbi.org.uk/insight-and-analysis/our-global-future/factsheets/factsheet-2-benefits-of-eu-membership-outweigh-costs/

bellinisurge · 04/12/2018 15:05

In the real world @Hesta54 . Lots of shitness all around me that will not be fixed by Brexit. In fact, there will be less money around to fix it, especially if we leave with no deal, and more people relying on food banks.
Tell me again why Leaving is better and why you haven't been played like a banjo to get what disaster capitalists want?

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 15:06

BTW, isn't funny how leave voters often tick all the boxes of Umberto Eco's list of the common features of fascism?

Appeal to social frustration, obsessions with a plot, the enemy is both strong and weak, ( bullies us but needs us more),disagreement is treason. the cult of action for action’s sake, the cult of tradition.

Could tick them all probably.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 15:07

BorisBogtrotter prejudice against what ? Your not going to use the racist card are you?

BorisBogtrotter · 04/12/2018 15:08

Nope prejudice doesn't necessarily mean race: "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience."

1tisILeClerc · 04/12/2018 15:09

{ It’s amazing that a figure like 9 billion gets chucked about as I’ve it’s nothing, while we’ve people in poverty and using food banks}
The amount indicated is, as has been said above about 1 penny in a pound for the average UK person.
This leaves 99p in the Pound for the UK government to spend how it likes. It just doesn't want to spend it on helping the 'poor' or significantly improving anywhere that isn't London or the South East. That is precisely bugger all to do with the EU.
To a fair extent the UK government doesn't give a shit about 'the little people'.
9 Billion SOUNDS like a big number to the average person in the street, but looking at the country's finances as a whole it really isn't.
Of course the government has to prioritise spending, but if it WANTED to fund the NHS properly it could over say upgrading Trident.

bellinisurge · 04/12/2018 15:09

@Hesta54 , you have been conned. I'm sorry but you have been conned.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 15:10

Quietrebel That’s not the same CBI that gets a lot of money off the EU is it

bellinisurge · 04/12/2018 15:12

@Hesta54 , you are flailing about with your arguments trying to spot meanies. The biggest meanies have exploited your vulnerability to kid you that the EU is the cause of all your worries. And once they've got your vote to get the economic disaster they thrive on (which they have), you will be tossed aside and forgotten by them.

Hesta54 · 04/12/2018 15:12

bellinisurge Conned in what way ? If I have been conned it would have been back in the 70’s, with the lies we were told then
