UnnecessaryFennel · 20/10/2018 11:56

We're here! Lovely weather, fab atmosphere, everyone very cheery and friendly. Looks like it's going to be a great day!

Bearbehind · 20/10/2018 12:25

It’s busy!

Loads of flags and ‘Bollocks to Brexit’ stickers 😂

PortiaCastis · 20/10/2018 12:28

Gah, Have just approached wrong group with my toothbrush Blush. Am at telephone box.

threetrees · 20/10/2018 12:42

covering it ?? so what, it will change nothing - what is the point of this other than a vague feeling of solidarity amongst the marchers

these things have been done before, make not a jot of difference

changehere · 20/10/2018 13:00

Am at phone box with toothbrush poking out of an orange bag

Urbanbeetler · 20/10/2018 14:03

Sorry we missed you. It’s huge! Lots of people static in Park Lane because so many people joining en route. Great atmosphere!

It will (a) show the world that many people in the UK don't support Brexit; (b) show our own country and government how many people are not behind Brexit; (c) demonstrate to our children and grandchildren that we cared enough to protest against Brexit...
I expect marchers will experience more than a 'vague' feeling of solidarity. Maybe you've just never felt passionately enough about something to comprehend, thetrees.

670,000 reported. That's 1% of the population marching on the street because of this.

My 11 year old dd loved the sign saying "Fuck this Tory Brexshit". I told her the swearing was permitted in the circumstances.

Urbanbeetler · 20/10/2018 16:25

There are some amazing placards - and loads of very strong teenage girls singing their hearts out. Lots of kids and older people.

Urbanbeetler · 20/10/2018 16:33

And a big wave to the lurking mner who said hi!

MrsPatmore · 20/10/2018 17:12

Amazing atmosphere. rousing cross party speeches and so many young people. Favourite banner ' The Government can't sort it but the people can!'.

TwigTheWonderKid · 20/10/2018 17:28

I had to bribe my 9 year old with the promise of swearing bellinisurge. He was really tied and didn't want to come so I reminded him it would be the only time when it would be socially acceptable for him to walk through central London bellowing Bollocks at the top of his voice...

Brilliant march. In June the average age seems ed about 60 but today there were so many more young adults there. Really heartening.

Hazardswan · 20/10/2018 17:39

Well done Gin

I couldn't be more proud or more grateful to all 600,000 + thousand of you marching today I could smooch you all Grin

TeddyIsaHe · 20/10/2018 17:41

I feel the same Hazard have had my faith in humanity restored today. All emotional!

jaws5 · 20/10/2018 18:28

I used to post here a lot, I stopped posting but continued reading everyday, Westminstenders threads have been my lifeline in the last two and a quarter years. Thank you all, especially Red.

I marched today with my family and it was very emotional, there was a guy holding a placard by one the lions in Trafalgar Sq saying “London remains no matter what” that really made me cry, I am European and a Londoner, and that placard summed up how I feel about this great city
that I call home. So proud that everyone marched peacefully, not one incident among 600.000 people, that says so much! Flowers

InfiniteSheldon · 20/10/2018 18:30

Poor turn out, despite all the hype and bribery. 600,000 (by their own count) versus 17 million doesn't really wash does it. Hope you had a great day though and feel like you've got some closure.

Childrenofthesun · 20/10/2018 18:31

Huge turnout. I didn't even make it anywhere near Parliament Square as it was full. It was fantastic to see so many young people marching.
