Yes, I'm going!

LaLoose · 16/10/2018 12:21

I'm going and am wanting to buy stuff now to make a placard. Are there any more experienced marchers that can give me advice on what to buy to make a DIY sign, please? I've got a Leyland SDM down the road and was hoping to be able to pick up a few bits from there...

Has seeing other people marching about something ever changed your mind? It hasn’t changed mine.
Actually, I do think some people might change their minds when they see national treasures like Delia Smith on the march. Marchers are sometimes dismissed as 'extremists' by people of a certain mindset; to see someone like mild-mannered Delia roused to action, might well give some people pause for thought.

time4chocolate · 16/10/2018 12:38

I’m not so sure Peregrina, I think she lost a few Norwich City supporters after her last rousing Wink

time4chocolate · 16/10/2018 12:41

Oops apologies that should have been to twofingers not Peregrina Blush

I'm marching along with my partner [who has never been on a march in his life] and two friends from up north, one of whom has also never marched before either. Any tips on what underground to use from St Pancras? We once tried to use the underground in Barcelona and, after travelling here there and everywhere ended up popping up at the same place that we'd departed from; our sense of direction is not the best.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 16/10/2018 14:25

Walk to kings cross station and take the tube from there. It’s clearly signposted and a short walk.

whymewhynow · 16/10/2018 14:50

St P's and KIng's X use the same underground station, you'll see signs to the underground as soon as you get to the concourse. You need to take the Piccadilly Line to Hyde Park Cnr (direct, no need to change) or, if you're running late, you can take the Piccadilly Line or the Victoria Line to Green Park (both lines stop there, again no need to change) and jump on the march there.

Anybody marchng with children aged about 9 -12 that we can join? My friend now can't make it so it's just me and my son.

I would speak/tweet/post/argue. The marches themselves are only for the spirits of the marchers - and that is not nothing.

I personally don't tweet. I think it's a total waste of time, especially after Trump started tweeting about covfefe, or whatever. I certainly discuss - and at least may have made one Leaver pause for thought.

It's a question of what can you do? I have thought often, why didn't people do something in 1930s Germany? Now I begin to know - partly because people don't have a full picture of what's happening, and partly because we don't know what actions are going to be effective. I think it all helps. Take whatever action speaks to you.

Our family of four will be be coming along with as many friends as we can muster. We were at the June march and it would be great to see some more teenageres and young people in their twenties this time.

We've got made "Bollocks to Brexit" and "Shove Brexit Up Your Exit " placards but need to think of some more. Will be taking some noise- makers with us this time.

TryItAndDieFatLass · 16/10/2018 21:29

Would love to be there but can't make it unfortunately and that goes for another 6 members of my family. Make some noise for me please, I'll be there in spirit

Sugarsnappy · 17/10/2018 22:30

I'm hoping to make it, even if Saturday is my birthday, and I'll be going on my own

Jellykat · 17/10/2018 22:48

I would like to, but can't have time off work..
Will be rooting for all of you marching big time!

Talkstotrees · 17/10/2018 23:34

@Sugarsnappy - happy bday on Saturday. If you’d like company at the march I’m happy to try to meet you.

justicewomen · 17/10/2018 23:44

My husband and I are going on what will be our first march ever. So not demo -type people but we are so worried about my son and his friends future in a Johnson/Gove/Rees -Mogg/Farage small state banana republic. Unlike them and Lord Ashcroft etc types we cannot jut buy a Belize/Maltese passport or move our business to Ireland

Theworldisfullofgs · 17/10/2018 23:46

Me and my 16 year old dd. We've delayed going away to be there and will be meeting dh and ds and ddog later.

ScouseQueen · 18/10/2018 00:25

@KennDodd yes, me! Happy to join forces.

ScouseQueen · 18/10/2018 00:27

Anyone else interested in forming a group, if they're going alone or as a pair?

TonyTodger · 18/10/2018 06:33

What if a new vote gave an even more resounding leave, like 60% or more , isn't anyone scared as I am, that we won't be able to 're join the EU then for generations? Could it be better to let us leave then get behind a 're join EU party down the line?

KennDodd · 18/10/2018 07:42

Shall we make a meet up point? How about 12 in front of the Hilton? Won't be crowded, easy to find each other Grin

Sugarsnappy · 18/10/2018 08:01

If I come along I'd be interested in joining forces

borntobequiet · 18/10/2018 08:20

Sugar - my DD will be with me and it’s her birthday too!
I plan to buy my symbolic red toothbrush today.

KennDodd · 18/10/2018 10:04

If you get a red tooth brush, hold it up in front of the Hilton so we can find you. :)
