DGRossetti So you are saying the EU are not worried about European citizens and their lively hoods and don't care about the European citizens in this country,

No. You said that. Twice.

Tell you what. Rather than waste your time here, demanding explanations of people that aren't responsible for anything, why don't you get onto your local MP - who is - and ask them.

The only harm happening to the UK is through the UKs own actions.

You've been provided with links - official links. Follow them.

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:55

54321go IF they were to negotiate properly it could work out well for everyone, I am beginning to fill sorry ( not that they will want it ) foe all the EU citizens in this country who the EU will just be abandoning.

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:58

DGRossetti My Mp is a stanch leaver, deaf ears there,

I'm struggling to see why you feel the EU is "abandoning" it's citizens in the UK. Can you cite something official to back that up. Or is it just "da feelz" ?

The EUs top priority will be the status of EU citizens in the UK after Brexit. It's one of their "red lines". If you remember, it was the very first thing they offered way back when to the UK. A reciprocal agreement guaranteeing their status.

Guess who told them to fuck off ?

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 11:00

So the EU will be free of any responsibility to their citizens, don't forget we still are at the moment

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 11:04

DGRossetti Can you back that statement up with actual real evidence re EU citizens, as it looked like a stalemate to me with EU not agreeing UK citizens rights

Sorry, Rosstac I can't quite see the point ? Quite happy to be told it's just me.

DGRossetti · 19/07/2018 11:05

Rosstac

I asked you to back up what you were saying first. Fairs fair.

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 11:07

DGRossetti where is the evidence regarding your statement on EU citizens, I suppose its what you want to read

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 11:08

smilethoyourheartisbreaking That's in the hands of the EU as well, im sure the UK would be happy to agree on a solution,

Malfi84 · 19/07/2018 11:09

Hi folks,
New to Mumsnet and surprised but chuffed to see an anti-Brexit thread on here! This uncertainty cost my husband his job so we've brought our little boy into a struggling household with the threat of potentially having to leave the country to stay afloat. I hate the whole thing and wish it had never happened. I write to my MP all the time but he's toeing the line. All about his career! It's all so depressing. BUT hello everyone. Good to meet you all Smile

No way.

You said (Thu 19-Jul-18 10:55:50)

I am beginning to fill sorry ( not that they will want it ) foe all the EU citizens in this country who the EU will just be abandoning

and I asked you for a cite where that is stated. If you can't back statements up with evidence, there is a danger people might assume you are Nigel Farage, or worse ....

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 11:18

DGRossetti If the UK leave with out a deal, what protection will EU citizens have, only the good will of the country they are in, if ( it wont and shouldn't happen ) any country would be in its rights to asked the people to leave.

DGRossetti · 19/07/2018 11:26

Still looking for that cite.

bellinisurge · 19/07/2018 11:42

Ok, I'll bite. It's livelihoods not lively hoods.
See what an up my own arse Remainer I am Grin.

Peregrina · 19/07/2018 11:49

IF they were to negotiate properly it could work out well for everyone,

Who do you suggest does this then? Boris Johnson had the chance but ran away and played cricket, and has shown what he is not made of as Foreign Secretary. Gove did put his name forward but didn't get many votes. Davis being the minister responsible for the last two years had ample chance, but doesn't seem to have made any impression.

Buteo · 19/07/2018 11:52

I’ll bite as well DGR. It’s always been obvious that the EU has given special weight to guaranteeing its citizens’ rights after Brexit, hence it being one of the EU’s own red lines.

Our first priority in the Brexit negotiations is to give you, European Union citizens certainty about your legal situation. We want to guarantee the rights both of EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU, as well as their families (regardless of the family members' citizenship).

We've said that guaranteeing the rights of EU citizens in the long term 'will be our absolute priority from the very start of the negotiations'.

ec.europa.eu/unitedkingdom/services/your-rights/uk-after-Brexit_en

I’m certainly not blaming the EU for lack of progress on this - the answer to that problem is much closer to home.

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 12:02

DGRossetti Likewise

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 12:03

bellinisurge I wondered who it would be, nice that you know you’re up your own ass

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 12:07

DGRossetti will that do

That’s a different issue - that means if you’re a UK citizen currently living in France then you can retain your right to live in France after Brexit but you wouldn’t then have the right to live in Germany.

Which is kinda the whole point of FOM - which that Leavers voted to put a stop to.
