Explain how reverting back to WTO rules for every country in the whole wide world will not cause the UK any issues
I didn't say it wouldn't Confused.

frumpety · 19/07/2018 07:00

So that basically describes what happens now and could happen now if the various Governments who had been in power during the time since FOM started had applied any logic to the situation. We just wont call it FOM ? Still means migration of EU nationals into the UK, the numbers of which wont be decided by 'the people'.

frumpety · 19/07/2018 07:01

We will design our immigration system - which sounds awfully like , no-one has put any thought or effort into doing so yet ?

DGRossetti · 19/07/2018 07:03

the migration of EU nationals will be subject to UK law

So: no change there.

next !!!!

I think it would be interesting to read through Geoffrey Howe's resignation from 1990, to see how we got to where we are, and as a reason to alter what we do right now;-
www.google.nl/amp/s/genius.com/amp/Geoffrey-howe-resignation-speech-annotated

It's a little long, it'll take 5 or 6 minutes to read through, but well worth it.

frumpety · 19/07/2018 08:19

We must at all costs avoid presenting ourselves yet again with an over-simplified choice, a false antithesis, a bogus dilemma, between one alternative, starkly labelled "co-operation between independent sovereign states" and a second, equally crudely labelled alternative, "centralised, federal super-state", as if there were no middle way in between.

frumpety · 19/07/2018 08:37

^ I give you the 2016 referendum in one paragraph !

nearlyfiftyjeez · 19/07/2018 08:45

Do get a collective grip! Too much wailing and pearl clutching. It is nauseating.

Talkstotrees · 19/07/2018 09:00

Wow! Rather puts ‘the great’ Boris Johnson to shame. Where have all the grown-ups gone?

Talkstotrees · 19/07/2018 09:02

(Geoffrey Howe’s speech, not nearlyfifty’s upchuck).

Buteo · 19/07/2018 09:10

Calling concerns over a no deal scenario “pearl clutching” just demonstrates a complete lack of understanding about what no deal entails.

Fortunately the EU has put together a handy list for you.

ec.europa.eu/info/brexit/brexit-preparedness/preparedness-notices_en#ener

Take aviation for instance: in a mo deal situation:

  • certificates of airworthiness no longer valid
-
Buteo · 19/07/2018 09:15
  • permits to fly no longer valid
  • pilot licences and medicals no longer valid
  • air traffic controller medicals no longer valid
  • certificates for air operators no longer valid
  • aerodrome licences no longer valid
54321go · 19/07/2018 09:25

Thank you Buteo. The documents will also be available in up to 27 other languages of course.
How are the Welsh and Scots teams doing with their translation work?

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:05

Buteo I take it the EU have spoke to the people who's lively hoods will be destroyed in the EU aviation and tourism, Its nice to know they care about all the EU citizens in the Uk, Its good to know they are happy to cause harm to the remainers who might need medicine, they really do care about themselves more than European citizens

DGRossetti · 19/07/2018 10:07

Buteo I take it the EU have spoke to the people who's lively hoods will be destroyed in the EU aviation and tourism

Only those that deal with the UK. And yes, they are being consulted.

Don't judge other countries by your own.

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:13

DGRossett So the EU have spoke to all the EU individuals that will be affected Of course there is not many flights from the EU to the UK, I suppose all the pilots, stewardess, handlers, etc will just have to accept no work for awhile, Good old EU. I can see why you all love it

DGRossetti · 19/07/2018 10:30

DGRossett So the EU have spoke to all the EU individuals that will be affected

In the same way the UK government would by publishing advice. Or do you believe that there should be a team of people knocking on doors and asking to speak to people one to one ?

What on earth are you talking about Rosstac? We are the ones wanting to leave - we are the ones who have not told them what we want leaving to look like. Why is it the EU’s fault that the consequences of leaving include not being party to certain important agreements?

54321go · 19/07/2018 10:44

@Rosstac
You are determined to look at this whole Brexit thing from a narrow minded UK point of view. The UK has a population of around 58 Million, the EU about nine times this. Although trade UK to and from the EU is signigicant it is half of the trade that Germany does. The EU is not 'punishing' the UK but you need to remember that all this stupidity of the UK failing to plan properly is forcing the EU, particularly the countries and businesses that deal with the UK to have to 'waste' a LOT of money and time for reasons that many in the EU do not understand, principally that the UK citizens who could vote were lied to. In general the EU looks after it's citizens. It is not perfect obviously but the stated aims are to improve the lives of all.
It is a failing of far too many 'UK citizens to bother to loom across the sea in any direction. Most other countries HAVE to get on with their neighbours.

bellinisurge · 19/07/2018 10:44

@Rosstac you sound like you are backing into a corner. I get you feel under attack on here. But seriously, catch yourself on!

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:47

DGRossetti So you are saying the EU are not worried about European citizens and their lively hoods and don't care about the European citizens in this country, so what are the workers meant to do after reading ( if they do ) quickly find another job, Surly even you can see through your rose tinted spectacles that the EU are doing this to harm the UK and fellow Europeans, They could easily with the UK negotiate with the UK like sensible adults to come to a solution for the good of European people especially those who lively hoods will be affected dramatically, Even I am surprised by the EU

Rosstac · 19/07/2018 10:49

54321go Why don't we get on with are neighbours, its the EU we don't get on with.

54321go · 19/07/2018 10:50

Loom should be LOOK of course!
Brexit is going to be VERY expensiver for the UK, but 'Leavers' voted for it. The rest of the EU are having to spend a lot of time and money and they did NOT vote for it.
Would you be happy if another country, say America, suddenly decided to 'tax' the UK citizens say 2 percent of their salaries and take that money out of the UK. This is effectively what UK leavers have done to the other EU members. Do you think this might annoy you if you look at it from their position?
