It has to be said that its almost as if Tory Rebels are too polite to challenge the PM.

But the stakes are getting higher and higher as it becomes more and more apparent that it is a clear choice between a chaotic no deal situation or a BINO and there is no alternative to that.

If the Tory Rebels don't show their grit and are not prepared to be as strong in their determination as the Brexiteers - out of almost politeness and obligation - then No Deal awaits.

As things move forward, the threat to May once again re-emerges too. If May doesn't do what the ERG say they are minded and will try to oust her. They have nothing to lose by it.

The Tory knives are hidden behind backs one again. Waiting.

Which way will the Withdrawal Bill go? Which way will the Trade Bill later this month go?

We are running out of time and options: for either a deal or no deal.

Time has already run out for many ordinary people - they just might not know that yet, but the decision has already be made about their future.

But why join a political party ? Especially when whatever your views, the reality is you are just there to make up the numbers while the oligarchs buy whatever policy they feel like that day ?

What's the point in backing Remain, and then being a member of the Tory or Labour party ?

Two men say they're Jesus; one of them must be wrong ...

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 14:28

I wonder if Farage & the Kippers (sounds a band to miss !) would receive any pay ?

It was alleged that the pension accounts belonging to him and to 7 other Kippers are being held in escrow, due to alleged misuse of EP funds by them

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 14:31

Tory Party has 124k members ? Hmm
Are they fudged members, or was the oft-reported 70k total a year ago simply wrong ?

The alternative would be that something - Brexit ? Hmm - has suddenly brought in a flood of new - or former - members

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 14:36

Barnier would have been told very firmly to avoid a Brexit that allows UK MEPs, since the UK kept sending such a lazy & incompetent shower.
Farage's outbursts after the ref were the final straw

That means Brexit Day before the EP elections, so probably B-Day remains 29 March 2019

The transition phase - even if it becomes a pay no say neverendum - would proceed without Uk MEPs being an issue,
because of course the Uk would no longer be a member

DGRossetti · 15/06/2018 14:39

The UK could be invited - at it's own cost - to observe EU proceedings ? Similar to how territories in the US can/could ?

Imagine how many "fact finding missions" would suddenly be needed ?

prettybird · 15/06/2018 14:46

I seem to recall - probably from a link the same friend posted some time ago - that the House of Commons Library specifically mentions that it gets no official data from the Conservative Party (unlike the other parties Hmm) and has to make a best estimate from various unreliable sources and the most recent usually very out of date statements within party literature.

DGRossetti · 15/06/2018 14:57

Does it really matter how many members any party has ? Especially given the presumption I hope we all share that a persons political views - including membership or otherwise of any legitimate political party - are a matter of privacy ?

Anyway, if whoevers job it is to oversee propriety in politics is to be done properly, it should be possible to discern the membership from the audited accounts that all political parties should be obliged to publish every year. Income from membership = for each class of member (no. members * membership fee).

Beyond that, votes cast should be the base criteria for allocating airtime, etc ?

I've never been engaged enough to give a fuck to look into it, but I'd imagine every political party has a clause preventing membership of any other political party - you know, like Gods ? Otherwise why not join all the parties you can ... just for lolz.

woman11017 · 15/06/2018 15:56

Guess what bill Phillip Davis and Christopher Chlope just blocked?
The last one:
@juliamacfarlane
Voted against minimum wage
Voted against equal marriage
Blocked legislation today against “upskirting” - taking crude photos of women against their will and without their knowledge

His constituency is Christchurch, Dorset. [email protected]

DarlingNikita · 15/06/2018 16:34

Written.

Cunt.

DGRossetti · 15/06/2018 16:41

Guess what bill Phillip Davis and Christopher Chlope just blocked?

Where's all the Tory shills now ?

DGRossetti · 15/06/2018 16:43

I already had Phillip Davies pegged as a cunt since he stated suggested that disabled people are worth less because they are disabled.

woman11017 · 15/06/2018 16:51

@RebeccaCNReid
I'm getting reports that Christopher Chope's inbox is too full to receive more messages. So why not hit up his mate Phillip Davies, who filibustered the bill? [email protected]

woman11017 · 15/06/2018 16:59

@Herring1967
I can only assume we now know what Sir Christopher Chope’s main hobby is. I think we should name it Choping in honour of him

What a strange island this is now.

DGRossetti · 15/06/2018 17:01

So why not hit up his mate Phillip Davies

You'll get a reply saying "I see the rabble are out" (which I did when I took him to task for his suggested Aktion T4 reboot).

AndSheSteppedOnTheBall · 15/06/2018 17:12

From earlier:

James Patrick
@J_amesp

A couple of sources now reconfirming the only plan inside government is the “hardest Brexit possible”

They’ve been consistent and supported by events for over a year now.

All notions of Brexit being stopped are dead. All that’s left is whatever damage limitation you need to do.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 17:27

Philip Davies, like his rape apologist friends in J4MB, never fails to sink below the slime of the lowest standards of human conduct

Of all the 2017 GE results, his return was the most disappointing reflection on English voters

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 17:28

Ports & IT changes don't get on well
Not a good sign for the blue-sky systems proposed post-Brexit

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-44487211

lorry drivers complained of tailbacks of up to 16 hours after the IT system was introduced on Sunday.
One shipping line, that did not wish to be named, told the BBC cranes that normally handled 24 containers an hour, were at present only handling about eight an hour.

[Felixstowe spokesperson re IT system]
"It will provide a stable, reliable and consistent level of performance for our customers for many years to come,"
< strong & stable ? >

BigChocFrenzy · 15/06/2018 17:34

Still neither UK govt nor business have got into gear to prepare for any type of Brexit

Maybe because it might be difficult & expensive to prepare for a specific Brexit,
but impossible to prepare for the undefined, i.e. all the possible scenarios

  • other than just giving up on the UK

The North-East England Chamber of Commerce consulted with manufacturing businesses about their preparations for Brexit

It was expecting a scale of preparedness.

"However, the feedback was much more stark and, to an extent, quite shocking.

Businesses fed back that preparation for Brexit was polarised and effectively took the form of two options:

no preparation whatsoever;
or preparation to relocate to mainland Europe."

Blue on Blue
Matt Hancock @MattHancock
The Goverment is determined to make it illegal to photograph people under their clothes without consent. Individual MPs can delay, but not prevent this from becoming law. We will make it happen

Beth Rigby @BethRigby
General consensus amongst Tory MPs is that being seen as the party which would block moves to make upskirting a criminal offence is a VERY bad look. This stuff has cut through as Hancock well knows

Lets liberalise the Tory party.

Get rid of the hard right of the party. Its the only way you will do it.

I wonder if a British diaspora would have a similar legacy in Europe as the Huguenot, or Ugandan ones have in the UK ?

lonelyplanetmum · 15/06/2018 17:43

The Goverment is determined to make it illegal to photograph people under their clothes without consent.

I read this as The Goverment is determined to make it legal to photograph people under their clothes without consent.

The surprising thing was, I wasn't particularly surprised. Must be getting inured to abuses of power now.

RedToothBrush · 15/06/2018 17:44

Wow! Even Guido has the knifes out for Chope!!!

order-order.com/2018/06/15/9-things-chris-chope-blocked/
7 ideas blocked by Tory Dinosaur Chris Chope

Tory dinosaur Christopher Chope has plumbed new depths by blocking a bill to make upskirting a criminal offence. Not sure how he plans to justify that to his wife and daughter. Chope has a tedious habit of blocking Private Member’s Bills supposedly on procedural grounds. In reality he just obstructs and prevents good ideas. He says it’s principle but the truth is he lets his mates’ bills through…

In addition to the upskirting bill, Chope has also blocked:

Pardoning Alan Turing (which was supported by The Queen);
Same-sex marriage;
An investigation into Bercow bullying allegations;
The use of wild animals in circus performances;
Blocked free hospital car parking for carers;
Making revenge evictions an offence.

What a bloke.

UPDATE: Not content with blocking the upskirting bill, Chope just blocked another government-backed bill to make it a specific criminal offence to attack police dogs and horses.

Who else felt a tiny bit of sick hit the back of their throat as they saw the strapline

"Fellow Conservatives criticise Sir Christopher Chope calling his actions an affront to democracy "

on the BBC

?

mrsreynolds · 15/06/2018 17:54

It should be called "choping" in his honour the red faced, gout ridden cock womble

😡😡😡😡
