Brexit

Not the Brexit Arms

Since BrexitArmsLandlady says she isn't starting anymore threads here's a place to discuss Brexit developments for those that still want to.

It never ceases to amaze me what a shambles this is.

The cabinet still can't even agree what we want, let alone what we're going to get.

We aren't ever going to default to no deal
But Theresa May could let us crash out by accident.

How about 'What do you want if you don't want money?' Because we won't have any if all our industry starts to flee.

bearbehind · 25/06/2018 10:20

But Theresa May could let us crash out by accident

I don't believe it's going to come to that. I think there is a vague sembalance of a plan whereby we'll just have to accept whatever we're given and TM and Leavers can forever blame that on the EU.

Always was going to be the case though - it’s why there was never a plan from the get go, just an end deal which will be to take whatever we are given or nothing at all.

bearbehind · 25/06/2018 10:57

Except we won't ever opt for the 'nothing at all' because it would damage the country even more than the alternative.

We simply aren't prepared for no deal so we'll have to accept whatever we're offered.

I am not as confident as you bearbehind. IMO the Airbus and BMW's warnings are pretty stark but you get Hunt and others denouncing them. Although I agree on May and Co's past form, the 'rows of the summer' have fizzled away to nothing.

bearbehind · 25/06/2018 11:54

Hunt denouncing the concerns of businesses as 'inappropriate' just proves how detached from reality the government are.

They still think if they dont talk about the hard stuff it will just disappear; it's pathetic.

However it does show that we are simply blustering with any talk of no deal as we still don't think it will get to that; albeit the government still thinks 'cake and eat it' is an option.

What does Hunt know of engineering industries like aerospace and car production? I suspect the amount he knows could be written on the back of an envelope.

topcat1980 · 25/06/2018 13:34

I love how Airbus et al announcements are inappropriate, but Tim Martin and James Dyson are just fine.

Hypocrites.

54321go · 25/06/2018 13:43

Is Boris's comment appropriate too?

PineappleSunrise · 25/06/2018 15:03

I am very interested in this new Brexit direction, in which Britons wanting to working for a living are unpatriotic unless involved in fishing or fruit picking.

Doubletrouble99 · 25/06/2018 15:56

Pineapple - what on earth are you talking about?

PineappleSunrise · 25/06/2018 16:14

I'm talking about your man Boris Johnson and his now famous comment about Airbus and Rolls Royce's warnings about a hard Brexit:

"Fuck business."

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/06/23/eu-diplomats-shocked-boriss-four-letter-reply-business-concerns/

What's 15000 jobs in aerospace when you can pick fruit, eh?

frumpety · 26/06/2018 21:24

For the love of God ! I go away for a few days and you all bring out the tunes < sulks> Hmm

54321go · 26/06/2018 21:34

Are you having a 'Joe Dolce' moment?

KennDodd · 26/06/2018 22:04

I'm convinced Boris is trying to do his absolute best to get the sack so he can walk away from the whole Brexit mess and just complain from the back benches about how it would have all been great if he was in charge.

Peregrina · 26/06/2018 22:18

Boris had the chance to be in charge. At least Gove had the guts to put up for the job, even though the party didn't want him.

Buteo · 26/06/2018 22:54

I'm convinced Boris is trying to do his absolute best to get the sack

In any ordinary UK business Boris would have been sacked long ago for gross misconduct.

Which just goes to show how dysfuctional this government actually is.

Doubletrouble99 · 26/06/2018 23:46

There are loads of them that wouldn't do well in business - Jeremy Corbin for instance.
