Just remember that women are more likely to be worried about Brexit.

Their women's and workers rights are more at risk from departure from the EU, the ECJ and potentially the EHCR.
They are more likely to be worried as EU citizens in the UK due to taking time to have and raise families.
They are more likely to have been badly affected by austerity and an economic downturn will hit them first.
If they are leavers they are more likely to have changed their minds.
They are less likely to be MPs so have less representation.
They are more likely to be feeling politically unrepresented by any party and unsure of who they will vote for at the next election.
They are more likely to get abuse for expressing a political opinion. Many report having been subjected to sexual harassment from political colleagues.
They are more likely to be the target of abuse on social media.
They are earn less than their political colleagues, they earn less than their media colleagues, they earn less than their business colleagues. They are less likely to be in powerful lobby groups.

Then there's #metoo

And to cap it off women's groups are finding it hard to get their voice heard, and are frequently being labelled as hysterical or bigoted for merely wanting to discuss things and be reassured that their fears are acknowledged. They are frequently dismissed as liars or over sensitive.

This is 2018.

It doesn't feel progressive. It doesn't look equal.

Brexit has more of an impact on women.

Back to Brexshit and some good analysis here about the 2011 European Union Act ...

Second referendum may be required?

An old cartoon just trying to find some elusive humour. Although I don't see many laughs in it all either.

DGRossetti · 12/03/2018 17:14

I wonder if this is all delayed fin-de-siecle Hmm Sad

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/03/2018 17:16

I only caught half of may’s speech but she seemed quite stern, although she didn’t actually say what measures would be taken against Russia, but I think she’s set a deadline for a Russian response for tomorrow

SusanWalker · 12/03/2018 17:34

One rather bitchy upside - I'm looking forward to all the press/SM posts going "the EU is so meeeaann, why are they being so stubborn and vindictive" changing to "the US/China/Australia are so meeeaann, why are they being so stubborn and vindictive". Along with calls for the queen to resign as head of state to any commonwealth country who dares to not let us have a britain first trade deal. And also huffing about how without us said country would not be where they are now.

OliviaD68 · 12/03/2018 17:39

We should threaten to stop exporting Marmite to them. That'll teach em.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/03/2018 17:42

Corbyn’s response is a bit Hmm

I preferred what I heard of May’s, which is an odd feeling to contend with.

lakeshoreliving · 12/03/2018 17:45

On the contrary olivia we should threaten to dump huge volumes of marmite on any country that won't give us a magical deal, that will definitely learn them!

OliviaD68 · 12/03/2018 17:57

Well that depends if you love it or hate it. I think Yanks would hate it so you're right!

We could do an air drop.

Or borrow an ICBM from Little Rocket Man and load it up.

Six Pro-EU Groups Move To New Shared Office For Brexit Fightback

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/six-pro-eu-groups-move-to-new-shared-office-for-brexit-fightback_uk_5aa6a266e4b009b705d4d05a?ncid=tweetlnkukhpmg00000008

Six pro-EU campaign groups have moved into a new shared office to better co-ordinate their Brexit fightback attempts.

Open Britain, the European Movement, Britain for Europe, Scientists for EU, Healthier IN the EU, and InFacts - which represent a combined 500,000 people - will now be based under the same roof in London’s Millbank Tower, in what staff have dubbed ‘Grassroots Co-ordinating HQ’.

It is hoped the move will allow strategists to better co-ordinate their battle to keep strong links between Britain and the European Union, alongside the All-Party Parliamentary Group on European Relations, chaired by Conservative MP Anna Soubry and Labour’s Chuka Umunna. [...]

That is news! Here's me thinking its all been Russian today and actually quite light on Brexit news. Then you posted that glimmer!

OliviaD68 · 12/03/2018 18:49

Here's a new ad which I find pretty effective ... To improve the collective mood on here. Hope you can read it- it's a bit small

That is news they're such a great bunch, is that in the old labour party HQ in Millbank?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/03/2018 18:53

I am finding the Russian stuff fascinating! But for you lonelyplanet:

Brexit betrayal? UK 'legally entitled' to second EU referendum, Tory rebel claims

Pain That is good news.

Thank you for posting it. Smile

lonelyplanetmum · 12/03/2018 19:14

Thank you Pain.

The good news about Grassroots HQ would been even better if Anna Soubry and Chuka Umunna now get more open heavyweight support.

Peregrina · 12/03/2018 19:35

Have they left it too late though?

mathanxiety · 12/03/2018 19:44

BigChoc - I didn't suggest it was a Brexiter who got a hold of nerve gas and used it. Clearly a material of that sort would have to come from a military or dark ops source.

Skripal spied for Britain but he was released as part of a spy swap. If he had presented any further threat to Russia would he have been released along with his family? The Russian government does not assassinate people randomly, and a Russian commentator living in Britain could see no rhyme nor reason for the murder attempt and especially no reason to involve the daughter, which apparently went against traditional practice.

I suggested the timing of the murder attempt was very fortuitous. This may of course be coincidental. But coverage of the incident certainly distracts from the EU impasse.

I am very much reminded of the last scene in Casablanca by the references to Russia - 'round up the usual suspects'. To turn Churchill's phrase 'with friends like these, who needs enemies?' - 'with enemies like Russia, who cares about the likes of Johnson and Rees Mogg?'

RedToothBrush · 12/03/2018 19:46

Project Fear and Russia.

Just saying.

Is Farage still shouting how much he lives Russia?

@RedToothBrush

No just saying how he admires Papi Putin ...

woman11017 · 12/03/2018 19:51

'round up the usual suspects'. What a film, and, so relevant. They wore such nice clothes fighting their nazis though.

Porton Down is near Salisbury?

Lucky that May was able to ascertain the villains so quickly.

Arborea · 12/03/2018 19:51

@OliviaD68 that was actually my reaction on June 24th!

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 12/03/2018 19:59

what is the connection between project fear and Russia? Am lost!

OliviaD68 · 12/03/2018 20:03

@Arborea

We all do.

What I like about it is it is one word. A strong word too.

It will catch people's attention
