The big developments are that the government have signalled they are prepared to pay more and to involve the ECJ when it comes to citizens rights on condition that we move to talk of trade. But no apparent progress on NI. Which is significant with Ireland threatening to veto.

The EU has not changed its stance at all. Since Day 1.

There is always a worrying omission and lack of commitment to retain the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The bonfire begins.

Talk is of Green still going in a reshuffle, possibly with Gove replacing him as Deputy PM.

Coalition talks in Germany have broken down, and the British have got excited about it, whilst the German response have largely been a slight shrug.

Its been a much quieter week, despite the budget. Thank goodness. There are lots of outstanding issues that are lurking in the background like the Green one though.

The main message coming from the budget, has not been any new policy, but the dreadful economic forecast for the next few years.

She's spelled "Meghan" incorrectly as well Confused. There is zero chance of a low-key event, I'm afraid.

lalalonglegs · 27/11/2017 17:18

Do you think implying that the Duke of Cambridge is a potential bigamist is treason? Could we have Arlene arrested and locked away for a very long time?

LurkingHusband · 27/11/2017 17:23

She's spelled "Meghan" incorrectly as well

To be fair, it's a Celtic name.

mrsreynolds · 27/11/2017 17:26

Arlene foster is a bear of very little brain

With Kate Joey to keep her company?

Holliewantstobehot · 27/11/2017 17:28

Sorry Hoey.

RhiannonOHara · 27/11/2017 17:29

It's now been corrected and she's explained that she doesn't tweet personally Hmm and it was a typo by a staff member.

So, thick herself or just employs idiots? Or a case of a thicko employing other thickos?

Holliewantstobehot · 27/11/2017 17:29

My autocorrect doesn't like her either.Grin

Well, it is the brexit way: always blame your mess on someone else...

Wow.
Missed this. Why did Michael Gove back Brexit?
Here's the moment he decided. A phone call to Legatum backer Paul Marshall.

Millions of people will have their benefits frozen for another year, Tories confirm 21 minutes after Royal engagement

Despite scrapping the cap on public sector pay rises, Theresa May has kept the freeze on benefits to slash £3.5billion a year by 2020

@bbclaurak
Standby for a big row - David Davis has written to DEXEEU committee admitting reports they're being given aren't complete and don't contain anything that might be commercially sensitive - so after all the fuss in the Commons, MPs aren't being given the full picture

woman11017 · 27/11/2017 18:00

Yeah, big row. Wink

PattyPenguin · 27/11/2017 18:14

Megan is a Celtic name - well, Welsh.

It's a double diminutive - Meg, a diminutive of Margaret, taken from the English + the diminutive ending -an, used in male and female names alike and seen in Bethan, Betsan and Deian, amongst others.

It doesn't have, or need, a letter h. I don't know whether Americans and others added an h in case the name was pronounced Mejan or Meejan Mind you, I can't think who would do that anyway. But g is always hard in Welsh, it's never pronouned like a j.

So yes, it is misspelt.

ElenaGreco123 · 27/11/2017 18:21

I can't really believe Gove was convinced by Legatum on Brexit. Wasn't his father involved in fishing and got ruined by the EU?

LurkingHusband · 27/11/2017 18:23

I don't know whether Americans and others added an h

They stole it from "herb" ...

OlennasWimple · 27/11/2017 18:29

Elena - MG claimed that, then back-tracked a couple of weeks later when his father said it wasn't true

MongerTruffle · 27/11/2017 18:31

This is a bit worrying.

Standby for a big row - David Davis has written to DEXEEU committee admitting reports they're being given aren't complete and don't contain anything that might be commercially sensitive - so after all the fuss in the Commons, MPs aren't being given the full picture
1. Critics of govt suggest Davis still risking contempt of parliament because MPs thought he’d been instructed to give them the whole lot, then Cttee would decide whether to redact or not
2. Davis letter says tho they had no assurances from Cttee over what they would do with the info so haven’t included anything commercially sensitive or that would damage negotiations
4. Davis’ team says they were clear they weren’t going to give them all the info but Labour accusing ministers of going against ruling of the speaker
5. Whole thing pretty weird on both sides - row about documents that never really completely existed

Sam Coates Times‏ @SamCoatesTimes
I was once told the "58 reports" were, in fact, two ringbinders of facts and figures which officials have had to turn into reports after a series of colossal misunderstandings and mistake

Laura Kuenssberg‏ @bbclaurak
think 2 ringbinders might be pushing it - problem is Davis told MPs about a year ago that they existed, so MP s started asking for them...which brings us to today

(Laura K can not count. There is no 3 in case you were wondering).

Does John Bercow rule on whether DD has fulfilled his obligations - or not? If so, it won't be anything other than the thumbs down from the Speaker.

woman11017 · 27/11/2017 18:44

@PeteWishart
They were to be handed over without redaction or qualification. I have written to the Chair of the Select Committee and if he is not satisfied I will continue to pursue, through the Speaker 'Contempt of the House' proceedings.

who's the chair and will he be satisfied?

lalalonglegs · 27/11/2017 18:46

Hillary Benn is the chair (and unlikely to be satisfied).

That list is very disturbing MongerTruffle.

The owner of trago mills is very anti EU. They had an advert in the paper and I was looking at the carpets. They were all priced in yards with the metres in brackets after. It was so confusing I gave up. I mean I'm in my 40s and work mainly in metric, apart from when I'm knitting as I like vintage patterns. My kids wouldn't have a clue about yards. Metric is so sensible.

I think as you get older you look back on your childhood as a kind of golden time and forget all the crappy stuff. My mum used to tell me about how cold her room was with ice on the inside in the winter. Whereas my dad didn't even have his own bed but shared one with his brothers. I expect that list is driven by the large baby boomer generation.
