Where have all the Brexiters gone?

Just that really. 52% voted to leave. I know Mumsnet isn't completely representative of the electorate but you would expect at least a few people to be banging the Brexit drum. The ones that were quite vocal seem to have lost their voice. Perhaps they're just bored with the whole thing but their silence really is deafening.

Do I believe leaving the EU is right ? Yes. Do I think it's being handled well ? No. Does it change my view on leaving ? No. It does make me think that we don't have an ideal democratic system in this country and we don't have the best people in charge but that isn't a good reason to stay in the EU for me.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 14:31

I’d actually report their posts tbh & I never report anything. What they’re accusing you of is appalling

I'm actually a little shocked to be honest. One would suggest that they're trying to label me as anti-jewish because they weren't doing so well during the debate.

There’s quite a lot that doesn’t cross your mind eh dad

I do have the ability to have a conversation without making it personal, you should try it sometime.

surferjet · 11/10/2017 14:35

Well I did warn you.
They just want to wind us up.
Even I was shocked when I read their posts though and that’s saying something. ( just when you think you’ve seen it all & all that )

TatianaLarina · 11/10/2017 14:36

Do I think it's being handled well ? No

Ok, so you admit things are not going well.

How could it be handled better? What should the government be doing now that would work?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 11/10/2017 14:39

*Ah yes, the brexit arms open to all apparently as long as you agree with us.
So this is rude but this isn't apparently...
Gave them an outlet on MN to bitch-plop to/about Leavers.
It’s quite pathetic really.
*

Hmm *I agree subjective..... I'm a bit offended at being called pathetic. I was going to let it past....*

Firstly, I didn’t ever claim that I wasn’t equally rude.

Secondly, I didn’t say that GhostofFrankGrimes was rude on this thread.

Thirdly, I don’t recall calling you pathetic theworld* (unless of course you are saying that you are one of the bitch-ploppers* on the Brexit Arms threads, in which case - yes, I do find that pathetic)

Why do you find it necessary to twist words, and read things that aren’t even there?!
Bizarre behaviour.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 14:40

They just want to wind us up

I can see that now.

I'm sure the "Planning for Brexit Thread" which has some of the most hysterical things I've ever seen about Brexit, was purely created to wind people up.

CardinalSin · 11/10/2017 14:47

"One would suggest that they're trying to label me as anti-jewish because they weren't doing so well during the debate."

Only that wouldn't be true, obviously.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 14:48

Well you resorted to name calling and libel - Not me.

BaronessEllaSaturday · 11/10/2017 14:48

How could it be handled better? What should the government be doing now that would work?

Again not my responsibility I'm not the one leading the country. My responsibility ends at the ballot box. Look I don't have the answers I never claimed I did. The people who need to figure it out are the government and everyone is responsible for voting for them.

missmoon · 11/10/2017 14:57

"My responsibility ends at the ballot box."

This is what is most infuriating about Brexit, the idea that someone else has to implement what is an impossible, nonsensical, decision. So when Brexiteers say "we should negotiate trade agreements with new countries" they mean other people should negotiate them. When they say "we can replace all the farm and health workers leaving" they mean other people should work on farms and look after the elderly. When they say "we can find a way to stabilise the economy" they mean economists and central bankers who are in fact opposed to the whole thing (because it's so damaging), not themselves. And all this said without any irony! An infantilised electorate, expecting simple solutions to very complex problems.

CardinalSin · 11/10/2017 14:58

I was commenting that you were obviously not doing so well in the debate. But take it as you prefer.

CardinalSin · 11/10/2017 14:59

"My responsibility ends at the ballot box."

Or, as we had from another Brexiteer very shortly after the referendum when asked about the Ireland problem; "not my circus, not my monkeys".

histinyhandsarefrozen · 11/10/2017 15:01

Brexit has given the elites a punch in the nose.

But not elites like multimillionaires, Farage, Banks, Jacob Rees Mogg, Johnson, Dyson, the "other" kind.

When I said "elites" I meant , people like George Soros, the Rothschilds, Kissinger etc.

Oh my God. Did someone just say that?!!

Wow. This is where the weirdos hang out now.

A4Document · 11/10/2017 15:01

We have gone quiet here because it's so bloody repetitive.

Yes.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 15:03

Miss Moon,

we should negotiate trade agreements with new countries" they mean other people should negotiate them

Yes, I manage buildings, I'd be crap at trade agreements, best to leave it to the government who are paid to do this.

we can replace all the farm and health workers leaving" they mean other people should work on farms and look after the elderly

Yes, I'd be crap at this as well, surely the government would be best placed to do this?

we can find a way to stabilise the economy" they mean economists and central bankers who are in fact opposed to the whole thing (because it's so damaging), not themselves

I can barely budget the weekly shop let alone the UK economy. Surely the government and their economists, who are paid to do this, would be better tasked?

And all this said without any irony

Now, Ironing I can do.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 15:04

Wow. This is where the weirdos hang out now

I said it, what's weird about it?

Theworldisfullofidiots · 11/10/2017 15:06

I'd have preferred it if the government had got on with what they are paid to do too in a parliamentary democracy rather than having a Referendum

Did you prefer it when we were taken into this impossible, nonsensical situation without there being a vote. We weren't given the power to say yes or no to the Single Market, it was dumped on us by politicians.
They got us into this mess, they can get us out again.

M4Dad · 11/10/2017 15:10

histinyhandsarefrozen

My bet is you'd never even heard of Soros before today.

MsHooliesCardigan · 11/10/2017 15:11

There was a brilliant post a few days after the Referendum to somebody who admitted that they had voted for Brexit 'to teach the metropolitan elite a lesson' which was along the lines of, 'So you haven't just cut your nose off to spite your face. You've shat in your bed, handed in your notice and burnt your house down'.
That really does sum it up for me.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 15:11

purits, could you explain what was impossible or nonsensical about remaining in the EU as far as trade was concerned?
