Where have all the Brexiters gone?

Just that really. 52% voted to leave. I know Mumsnet isn't completely representative of the electorate but you would expect at least a few people to be banging the Brexit drum. The ones that were quite vocal seem to have lost their voice. Perhaps they're just bored with the whole thing but their silence really is deafening.

I'm not with this. What 'electricity' are we talking about?

RTFT

purits · 11/10/2017 20:28

Eh? That's not an answer. why doesn't that surprise me

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:29

Sorry wisedad I missed some posts- I'll be back.

WiseDad · 11/10/2017 20:29

So let me try again.

Is there a brave soul who will put the case for staying in an EU as currently configured and likely to involve further integration as seen by the Euro group ideas being floated around.

Is there a brave soul who will put the case for staying in the EU but outside the Eurogroup who have QMV and the majority of the votes thereby making changing things in the UKs favour 100x harder?

I hear absolutely nothing on these points, just moaning about how hard it is to leave.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:30

purits really, RTFT and you'll see exactly what 'electricity' I was talking about.

purits · 11/10/2017 20:31

Bearbehind I do not understand the 'electricity' argument. Can you explain it please.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:32

wisedad I did apologise for missing your previous post but, having now read it, you've compleely discredited any argument by mentioning VAT on santiarty products- seems you missed the memo on that one too.

WiseDad · 11/10/2017 20:33

Err. Mine reply was right behind yours. Indeed my reply explicitly addresses the issue of the quality of the analogy which I confessed in my original post and posts a question to move the point on.

The analogy is poor, so let's do detail instead. See my other posts for the questions I have that haven't been answered by anyone really. It isn't a bearbehind omission but a universal one.

Anyway. Off to bake a cake for my son's birthday.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:33

No I won't purits, if you can't be arsed to read the detail, I can't be arsed to explain.

purits · 11/10/2017 20:37

Great debating technique.

purits · 11/10/2017 20:38

I can't be arsed to explain.

You ask endless questions of Leavers but never answer any yourself.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:39

No, it's frustration with people who can't be bothered to look at the detail.

You quoted me from the post that explains exactly what 'electricity' I was talking about yet still can't see it.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:41

You ask endless questions of Leavers but never answer any yourself.

I ask questions which haven't been answered.

OCSockOrphanage · 11/10/2017 20:43

No, no one with sense is going to argue that an EU with further inflated power is a good idea. The current negotiations are failing because every statement from the UK about a vision of how things might work in the future is met with a blanket response of "it's not enough money/a long enough commitment" to satisfy the European Commission's federal empire building ambitions. There is not enough money in the global economy to pay for the full wish list, which is why it needs pruning to manageable proportions. No entity signs off on a blank cheque with a perpetual clause, which seems to be the goal in Brussels.

purits · 11/10/2017 20:44

I give up.
Can anyone else explain?

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:49

FFS purits, read my post from 20.18, including the quote.

OCSockOrphanage · 11/10/2017 20:49

Read the thread, it's not very difficult.

mummmy2017 · 11/10/2017 20:53

But we don't want to use the Electric.
We are leaving the club, so the bill stops.
Also it means we don't have to keep the club rules about not dating someone from the pub.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 20:53

It does make the comment you made earlier rather ironic purits

I think it was 'Do I have to do the explaining to the hard-of-understanding again?' Hmm

purits · 11/10/2017 20:57

when you leave a club, you pay up to the end of the contract and walk away, you don't have to pay towards the Electric Bill for 2018.

What 'electricity' do the EU have that we are planning to use indefinitely?
I just want out of any commitment and have a simple trading arrangement.

Bearbehind · 11/10/2017 21:00

That might be what you want *purits, but it's not what we are currently striving for.

We are aiming to retain 'frictionless' trade i.e., using the electricity without paying for it.

I cannot believe I had to explain that

purits · 11/10/2017 21:02

Oh it makes sense now you explain it. You want frictionless trade and assume that's what everyone else does.

purits · 11/10/2017 21:04

That was really hard work. Like pulling teeth.

MarciaBlaine · 11/10/2017 21:05

Um the UK wants frictionless trade, not just bear. They want to extend the deadline to achieve this. I never got an answer to my earlier post on how our children's lives will be ruined by remaining. I will wait patiently though as I am sure someone can tell me.

mummmy2017 · 11/10/2017 21:06

But they still want us to give them things for free as well.
Since we own the boating lake, behind the club and they have used it for free members want to be able to use it for their boats.
