It seems not many people have?

Thank you, Flowers to you too michael

I think we'd actually share some common ground IRL, it's just this is all so emotive right now.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 21:51

I am nothing but honest about voting leave. I've admitted being naive, I'm appalled at what's happened as a result of the vote and I'm sad it ever came to this.

And Bear I will never stoop as low as to call you out for voting Conservative again. I dont like being generalised as a leave voter and I am a stinking great hypocrit for doing the same to you.

My maternal grandparents were lifelong Conservative voters, I adored them, they were good people. Although I did make DH sleep on the sofa for 2 nights when he admitted voting Conservative in 2015. Poor bugger.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 21:55

Missing an e off hypocrite, now I'm cross again Grin

Bearbehind · 20/09/2017 21:55

PMSL laughing about the sofa michael

I think we're all guilty of generalising a bit but I do think that's because there are some pretty big sections of society which do default to one side or the other.

Some comments make it hard to remember there are exceptions to every rule Smile

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 20/09/2017 21:57

Sod voting leave

You missed the e from hypocrit

What the hell is wrong with you michael

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 20/09/2017 21:58

Joke!!!

Im joking i swear

surferjet · 20/09/2017 21:59

Don't go mad with the apologies MichaelFabricantsHair you're a random on the internet not the the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 20/09/2017 22:00

surfer

Grin
MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 22:03

Surfer I'll stop now, honest guvnor Grin

Bearbehind · 20/09/2017 22:04

I'm appalled at what's happened as a result of the vote and I'm sad it ever came to this

Kinda proves my point about there being exception to every rule.

I honestly can't think of a single other Leaver on these threads that would ever utter those words.

surfer, give it it up love.

We've had our ups and downs, and again I think we'd share some common ground, but I'm sure even you know your comment about Remainers actually only being unhappy because we can't exploit foreign labour was scraping the bottom of the barrel.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 22:05

Besides, The Archbishop was a passionate remainer wasn't he? Grin

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/09/2017 22:07

GhostofFrankGrimes

Neither side have a particularly appealing look about them.

If you are looking at the more vocal groups all you are going to see is bigotry from both sides.

surferjet · 20/09/2017 22:08

I dunno, probably.
Tbh up until 10 minutes ago I didn't know whether you were a leaver or a remainer.
I skim read so much these days.

RandomlyGenerated · 21/09/2017 07:07

Michael Never mind about about missing the "e" from "hypocrite", but I'm sure you missed an "s" from "inane" when mentioned BoJo's ramblings earlier.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/09/2017 07:43

TBH, when your campaign includes the infamous "breaking point" poster you've lost the xenophobia argument.

This wasn’t the official Leave campaign.

They are being represented by the likes of BJ who are talking complete and utter bollocks.

I don’t think his article was bollocks though, in the whole, it’s what I’d like to see.

The £350k thing was daft - he re-asserted that we’d once again be fully in control of all of the money & where it’s spent, which we will.
Unfortunately it allows lots of arguments based on semantics which is an unnecessary distraction - he should have instead quoted the £250k that is the amount we don’t get back at all. Still an outrageously shocking amount to pay per week by anyone’s imagination.

Re sharing values with those you vote alongside, then by extension all Labour voters are anti-semitic & think that the Rochdale etc grooming standards had nothing to do with culture etc.
All remainers are aligned with Tony Blair etc etc.
Which is clearly a bollocks statement to make.

RandomlyGenerated · 21/09/2017 08:19

Faith the net contribution the UK made to the EU in 2015/16 was £156 million per week, and that doesn't allow for money paid by the EU to private institutions such as universities and research institutions.

BoJo knows that - that is why it is downright lying to tout the £350 million figure yet again.

fakenamefornow · 21/09/2017 08:31

I've heard a theory that BJ desperate to get himself sacked so that he can wash his hands of Brexit and won't be in the frame when the shit hits the fan. I agree, he's very clever if this is the case.

OP posts:
fakenamefornow · 21/09/2017 08:32

TM will know this and that's why she isn't sacking him, she wants him to carry the can as well.

OP posts:
FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/09/2017 08:37

The £156 million per week is after the money paid to private institutions etc is taken off, not before.

The U.K. ‘sends’ c£350m per week to EU.
‘Gets back’ subsidies etc (although technically it hasn’t actually moved anywhere).
This means U.K. actually contributes c£270 per week.

EU then pays money to U.K. in form of subsidies & grants etc.

Net contribution of U.K. to EU is therefore c£160m per week after all payments/rebates etc accounted for.

twofingerstoEverything · 21/09/2017 08:40

There's a petition here calling for the government to publish its own Brexit Impact/Risk Assessments. I like to think this is something both 'sides' would like to see.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/09/2017 08:42

I agree btw that he’s being deliberately disingenuous by continuing to quote the gross figure - and it just undermines the overall point when he does it.

However, it’s not technically correct to say that the figure we will have full control over is c£160m either - it’s the mid figure that we will gain ‘control’ of - to prioritise & spend as we choose.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/09/2017 08:48

I’d be interested in impact assessments that are entirely objective & without subjective interpretation twofingers.

Unfortunately, any such reports would be subjected to political polishing & spin - just like the doom-laden Armageddon that project fear unleashed pre ref - obvs similar polishing & contortion is equally to be expected from Leave champions too, so any such impact reports would become politically manipulated subjective posturing.

TheElementsSong · 21/09/2017 08:56

I like to think this is something both 'sides' would like to see.

I think you'll find twofingers, unless these assessments are promising cake, eating it, no bad effects and nightly affection from Ryan Gosling, that they will be dismissed as being hideously biased by the malign influence of Remoaners involved in the research.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 21/09/2017 09:20

Randomly I guess the 's' could be interchangeable Grin

I'd be pleased to see impact reports, my only concern would be what Faith has touched upon, in that I'd be concerned the whole truth wasn't being presented. And that's from both sides of the debate; take Boris and his insistence that the bus figure is correct, when it was very publically proved otherwise. Yet he carries on with his lie. I guess I'm highly cynical of MPs in general, the vast majority seem to lie or promote false promises. They get away with it too, it's outrageous really.

Petition for citizens to request their own government publishes government report.

FOI legal case being prepared, to enforce publication.

Michael it is a government report.

If citizens don't want it published, does that mean they don't trust this government?
