I was thinking about how I could sum up the general election campaign and well. This said it all.

Randomly at least he was being proactive and helpful!

Badders123 · 08/06/2017 23:27

Why is that red?

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 23:28

Interesting. I wonder if postal votes happening earlier are more conservative then the polling stations in this election.

Badders123 · 08/06/2017 23:30

Let's hope the UKIP vote continues to collapse...

lalalonglegs · 08/06/2017 23:31

Just got home - have I missed anything Grin?

RandomlyGenerated · 08/06/2017 23:32

squoosh I can only hope that my mother, who is particularly forthright, gave him food for thought - she makes Atilla the Hun look like a wishy-washy liberal.

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:34

Sunderland and Newcastle have the highest number of postal votes - partly because they do the battle for the 1st declaration I think. Its quicker to count.

Wow. Peter Kellner says that if the exit poll is as wrong as the first two results indicate, the Tories could be heading for a 100 majority.

Uhoh

lalalonglegs only the best day ever!

Ok, slight exaggeration. But compared to the out of despair I'd entered earlier this looks much better Grin

Badders123 · 08/06/2017 23:36

That's worrying!!

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:36

Bigly, that was my thought. Could explain why predictions out as the seats are not typical because their postal ballots are so high.

OP posts:
Badders123 · 08/06/2017 23:36

This GE will be decided on whether labour or Tories take the ukip vote

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:38

Note: Rumours that Amber Rudd is in trouble. Amber Rudd loses her seat in YouGov, but not other seat models.

OP posts:
CivQueen · 08/06/2017 23:38

What are the chances of the exit poll being that wrong?!

I thought they were always a bit dodgy in safe seats?

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:40

Henry Mance‏*@henrymance* 1m
Sunderland & Newcastle have highest proportion of postal voting. Could explain the difference with the exit poll.

Confirmation of what I said.

she makes Atilla the Hun look like a wishy-washy liberal.

At least he'll have had an invigorating car journey with her 😀

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:43

Mike Joslin‏*@mikejoslin*

Hearing @alexsobel has likely beaten @GregMulholland1 in Leeds North West according to multiple sources at the count.

No surprise. All pollsters had this.

Gareth Davies‏*@Gareth*_Davies09

.@bbclaurak says Labour is 'quietly confident' in Croydon Central

This was lean red on yougov.

Need to go to bed but scared that I will go to asleep optimistic and waking disappointed al la Brexit.

Golondrina · 08/06/2017 23:44

Why does postal voting explain the difference? Do postal voter tend to be CON? Sorry if it's a dopey question.

prettybird · 08/06/2017 23:45

Dh has just pointed out that the Conservatives have really fucked things up over the last few years.

They won an outright victory in 2015 when Cameron was expecting to be able to "blame" the LibDems for them not "letting" him have an In/Out Referendum. Strike 1. Hmm

They then lost the EU Referendum narrowly - having not put in any safety thresholds and insisting it was purely advisory. Strike 2. HmmHmm

Call an opportunistic early general election to get a stronger mandate for the Brexit negotiations. Results not going as expected. if even half as bad as predicted Strike 3 HmmHmmHmm

Not exactly strong and stable HmmGrin

squoosh I think it might have been the longest 4 minutes of his life.

ElenaGreco123 · 08/06/2017 23:48

Golondrina I wonder if postal votes are just estimated - not measured - in the exit poll.

RedToothBrush · 08/06/2017 23:48

UKIP vote from 2015 looks to have almost all have gone blue in Sunderland Central

OP posts:
BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 23:49

Oh my, this is going to go to the wire isn't it.

Badders123 · 08/06/2017 23:49

I assumed most ukippers would go blue tbh

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 23:53

I might have to go sleep for a bit. Though I am not sure how I will manage it. Crazy times.
