I think most people's voting reasons will be nuanced

The brexit arms reaches project desperation.

Perfect illustration of the type of post/poster that killed these threads.

Plenty of posters discussing things quite amiably & airing their differing opinions & views - then as per usual & crushingly tedious in its predictability, one of the usual suspects performs entirely as expected.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/06/2017 12:04

Nice cherry picking Charm, I have given quiet detailed responses on these threads.

fakenamefornow · 11/06/2017 12:11

Is this thread just for cheer leaders for Brexit then? If so, do you think your view of Brexit could be a little unbalanced?

Badders123 · 11/06/2017 12:12

Ah
Swivel eyed loons only?
Ok
Bye then

Charmageddon · 11/06/2017 12:12

You've also been very consistent in your view of Leave supporting posters on these threads.

And it's never been particularly pleasant.

Charmageddon · 11/06/2017 12:13

Is this thread just for cheer leaders for Brexit then? If so, do you think your view of Brexit could be a little unbalanced?

How on earth did you come to that conclusion?

Cheerio Badders, have a lovely day! Smile

do you actually know what you're talking about?

Er that's very respectful there, surfer, but very amusing coming from the person trying to argue that all ukippers this time voted labour thus screwing over may. (Just a peek at Clacton would suggest that's not true!)

We don't know what the results mean but pretending it's crystal clear for brexit is simply not true-

May stood on a brexit platform- she lost her majority- it's not clear why.
Anecdotally, I know remoaners who voted cons and labour. That doesn't mean they support brexit now any more than it means they support fox hunting (cons) or sympathise with the Ira (lab)
These baseless assumptions aren't a healthy way to move forward. If people care about what the people think now then the only way to know would be another ref.

surferjet · 11/06/2017 12:25

The Brexit Arms has always been open to everyone, right wingers, left wingers, pro Brexit, anti Brexit, it's good to have a place we can all chat, argue, off load, whatever really. We're never all going to agree but that's fine by me.

surferjet · 11/06/2017 12:29

Another referendum?

Oh look! a pig has just flown past the window.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/06/2017 12:30

Oh look! a pig has just flown past the window.

I think that was in honour of May's strong and stable huge majority hard Brexit.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 11/06/2017 12:34

I said if people care about what the people think, didn't I?

Or maybe they're flying in honour of your stop hate-speech against leavers campaign, surfer. That was a good un.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 11/06/2017 12:40

What?

Where is the pig?

You have to look out for flying pig shit ....it can sting if you get it in yiur eye

Although a pig flying through mumsnet might explain the amount of shit i have seen on some of the threads

Something I've been wondering about: did anyone who voted for Brexit seriously want negotiations to happen amidst anything like the current shambles? That being the case, might it not be an idea to put the brakes on the whole thing, if necessary by withdrawing the Article 50 trigger?

WrongTrouser · 11/06/2017 15:49

Captain and Figment Thanks for your replies, very interesting and food for thought.

time4chocolate · 11/06/2017 16:14

Ceto - I think if we withdraw we then have to deal with EU QMV rules which came into effect on 31/3/17,which is why I think we triggered when we did. Happy to be corrected if A50 doesn't come under this new rule.

Charmageddon · 11/06/2017 16:17

I echo WrongTrouser, I always get a lot out of hearing other people's thought processes & opinions - so thanks to Captain & Figment Smile

Ceto, the current shambles is not what I wanted for Brexit negotiations at all, however I think the current shambles might actually be beneficial if the parties can start being more grown up & sensible about it all.

TM & co have a clear message that their approach wasn't working (austerity as well as Brexit) & as such they have to back down somewhat & rethink their strategies & policies.

Unfortunately, JC said today that a Cross party Brexit was not an option for Labour, so it probs is a dead duck in that respect if he doesn't change his mind.

Which then leads us back to the Tories running with it entirely; Ruth Davidson is advocating a much softer approach & she holds a lot of power at the mo as it's her Tories that have given TM the numbers.

I would like to see a quick & relatively painless outcome - EFTA/EEA ideally, single market membership is not what I want (due to accompanying FoM) but if that's the outcome then so be it.

Definite No! to putting the brakes on & withdrawing article 50 though.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 11/06/2017 17:08

So perhaps we can agree that What's crystal clear though is the country is behind brexit is incorrect.

Charmageddon · 11/06/2017 17:34

No, I disagree.

I think the country is behind Brexit.

Apart from a few die hard remainers, everyone else has moved on.

(Ironically, those few die hards are Farage in today's money 😂 - Farage in remoaners clothing...!!)

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 11/06/2017 17:56

I am not a die hard remainer

I am someone who voted remain

I am not behind brexit at all

Carolinesbeanies · 11/06/2017 18:04

"Hard brexiteers are in denial."

That would be the EU council Ghost. Not sure Junker sees himself as being 'in denial', but we can live in hope hey.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 11/06/2017 18:05

Ok so the election makes it "crystal clear" the country is behind brexit.
Sigh

So you read why people may have voted the way they did, but have decided to call them die- hard remainers and have decided that they are the exceptional few? (Although you've got no evidence for that, right?)

Talking of farage, he is thinking of coming back, isn't he? I wonder why on earth he feels the need?

Crystal clear. Grin

Carolinesbeanies · 11/06/2017 18:18

www.fnlondon.com/articles/eu-council-chief-warns-uk-to-avoid-no-deal-brexit-20170609

And again they tell us.

The EU council will settle on a 'no deal'. Why are so many, so utterly determined to ignore them?

Charmageddon · 11/06/2017 18:29

*Ok so the election makes it "crystal clear" the country is behind brexit.
Sigh *

Why do you think it is crystal clear that the country is not behind Brexit?

Short of another ref, there is no way to accurately gauge.

All we do know is that over 80% of the electorate voted for parties which had 'uphold the ref result' in their manifesto.
