Nice to see some positive news, Qatar announcing £5,000,000,000 investment and Sir James Dyson makes some valid points in support of going our own way.

It's funny how life works out isn't it, Teresa May campaigns for remain and she is the one to trigger brexit!

Come on TM, get on with it so we can make a start.

What we were actually promised, to quote David Davis no less, is the 'exact same deal' as we already have. I'm looking forward to this, although it's not clear what the point of going through all this trauma will be, to end up exactly where we left off.

LondonMum8 · 01/04/2017 17:00

We can't have the exact same deal with the EU. We were in a super-privileged position: the rebate, unimpaired access to the EU market for the City and other services (the bulk of our economy), natural EU HQ location for a wide range of businesses.

That's lost now and we are entering Project Reality. At least a few second to third grade politicians will make a bit of a short-lived career for themselves out of this.

Imjustapoorboy · 01/04/2017 17:32

Not sure they are even 2nd or 3rd rate! Money grabbing weasels

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 18:10

So far its looking like its all going to plan. The supposed 'apocalypse' will never still hasn't happened, companies are still investing in the UK, the supposed 'punishment beating' isn't happening, A50 has started, most people now seem behind Brexit and all our ducks are in a row. Whats not to love?

LondonMum8 · 01/04/2017 18:18

It's not going to be a sudden apocalypse, it's about damage by a thousand cuts, driven by inflation to begin with. Whimsical trade deals won't help if our main business is selling services to Europe.

Imjustapoorboy · 01/04/2017 18:20

Anon OK come back in 6 months

Kaija · 01/04/2017 18:24

I would be very interested to hear more about those ducks, anon. Certainly wasn't looking promising when David Davis was in front of the Brexit committee.

Bearbehind · 01/04/2017 18:24

so far it's looking like it's all going to plan

What 'plan' would that be? Hmm

From where I'm standing:-

-TM has been told exactly what she can do with her aspirations of negiotiating trade deals with the EU and other nations at the same time as other talks over the next 2 years

  • Scotland is going to fuck off as soon as it gets a chance because the choice is now between a rock and a hard place so they'll opt for the 'independent' hard place.

-David Davis has absolutely no clue at all about anything by the looks of it.

-Gibraltar has been added to the woes of NI in terms of 'how the fuck is this going to work'

-Inflation is through the roof because of the thought of Brexit.

-We appear to have absolutely no plans for any kind of border control enhancements with which to deal with the required checks,

-TM's negioting tactic appears to be to make threats she can't keep ten back track- so far we've had 'we'll leave with no deal if needs be' and 'we'll take away our security intelligence' both of which have been dismissed out of hand

Bloody marvellous eh?

Sterling is on the floor but might yet sink to the basement.

Was it really the plan for the Scots to vote for a second Referendum? That May's talk about the country being united was just a bluff?

Was it really part of the plan for Madrid to start sabre rattling over Gibraltar? Well, if we have been able to see the Spaniards off for 304 years, why shouldn't we this time? Except this time we might not be able to.

Meanwhile the scientific brain drain, an area where the UK 'punched above its weight' is quickening its pace. Was that the plan to weaken scientific research?

Banks and insurance firms are looking to relocate some of their functions. Was it really the plan to encourage Lloyd's of London to open up elsewhere? After all the Finance industry is overblown so they needed to be brought down a peg or two.

You are deluded if you think 'most' people are behind Brexit - 100,000 of us weren't last weekend, and I doubt whether we have all changed our minds since then.

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 19:01

What 'plan' would that be? hmm, the plan to leave the EU!

TM has been told exactly what she can do with her aspirations of negiotiating trade deals with the EU and other nations at the same time as other talks Yip, she has been told once we make progress on nationals living in the EU/UK, the NI boarder etc we can talk trade, so in a few months then. Sorted.

Scotland is going to fuck off as soon as it gets a chance because the choice is now between a rock and a hard place so they'll opt for the 'independent' hard place Who cares?

David Davis has absolutely no clue at all about anything by the looks of it Remoaner bla bla bla

Gibraltar has been added to the woes of NI in terms of 'how the fuck is this going to work So because something has to be agreed, the sky is falling in. Get over yourself.

Inflation is through the roof because of the thought of Brexit through the roof, seriously, what age are you?

We appear to have absolutely no plans for any kind of border control enhancements with which to deal with the required checks So because you aren't kept up to date on government plans then the world is ending?

TM's negioting tactic appears to be to make threats she can't keep ten back track- so far we've had 'we'll leave with no deal if needs be' and 'we'll take away our security intelligence' both of which have been dismissed out of hand Remoaner bla bla bla

Bloody marvellous eh? Yes Bloody Marvelous!

Sterling is on the floor but might yet sink to the basement Yes its awful having a currency that supports our exports.

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 19:05

Was it really the plan for the Scots to vote for a second Referendum? The SNP were always going to have a second referendum!

Was it really part of the plan for Madrid to start sabre rattling over Gibraltar? They have been doing this for years, what exactly is the big deal?

Meanwhile the scientific brain drain... Remoaner bla bla bla

Banks and insurance firms are looking to relocate some of their functions. A few offices in the EU is NOT the end of the financial system in London.

You are deluded if you think 'most' people are behind Brexit - 100,000 of us weren't last weekend And it didn't even make the news, because no one cares anymore.

Bearbehind · 01/04/2017 19:06

anon it's good to see your insightful and intuitive arguments against my comments.

Oh hang on- it was all just more rhetoric bullshit.

I hope your Union Jack keeps you warm at night.

Imjustapoorboy · 01/04/2017 19:08

Bear Actually hot air is known to keep people warm too!

Peregrina · 01/04/2017 19:18

April Fool.

Oh, but not even that - that stops at midday.

Anyone who thinks that 100,000 people don't exist because the BBC doesn't properly acknowledge themselves is fooling themselves. We haven't gone away.

The BBC similarly promotes UKIP and Farage at every turn, so they must be really, really prominent in Parliament. Remind me how many Parliamentary by elections they have won since 2015? Remind me too, how many MPs they have? Whereas the SNP now, those deeply unpopular people somehow have managed to get 56 MPs into Westminster. Funny that, perhaps they are just Tories pretending.

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 19:19

Bearbehind - Much more factual than your completly made up fiction hot air.

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 19:22

The BBC similarly promotes UKIP and Farage at every turn

Is that the same BBC that has been accused of bias in favor of its remain reporting?

Bearbehind · 01/04/2017 19:30

anon could you put your money where your mouth is and attempt to answer just one of my responses with something other than bravado?

PoundlandUK · 01/04/2017 19:40

I want to hear about the ducks please Smile

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 20:01

Bearbehind your asking loaded questions. You seem to have no interest in the truth.

Peregrina · 01/04/2017 20:02

Is that the same BBC that has been accused of bias in favor of its remain reporting?

Yes, by some ardent hard -Brexit MPs, so not exactly neutral observers.

You weren't able to tell me how many by-elections UKIP have won since 2015. I will help you out - none. And this was contesting seats like Sleaford which is UKIP Central so they should have romped home. How many MPs? None.

BTW the accepted British English spelling is 'favour'.

Anon1234567890 · 01/04/2017 20:16

Yes, by some ardent hard -Brexit MPs, so not exactly neutral observers
Is a long held view that the BBC is bias to the libel pro EU left. Whatever it is or isn't, its a bit desperate to blame Brexit on the BBC.

BTW the accepted British English spelling is 'favour'. Its even more desperate to start using MN inherent English American spell checker as a justification for your argument.

Corcory · 01/04/2017 20:23

Your always so very sure of your facts Bear - 'Scotland is going to fuck off as soon as it gets a chance'!! How the hell do you know?

Exactly, you don't know. You don't know anything Bear no more than the rest of us. But oh your so so sure of yourself aren't you!!

Bearbehind · 01/04/2017 20:25

you seem to have no interest in the truth

anon please tell me what I've said that's untrue?

Could you even attempt to give a sensble, reasoned responses to the questions posed to you?

Bearbehind · 01/04/2017 20:30

corcory you're so sure I'm wrong though- why?

The vote was 45 v 55 last time and, IMO balance was tipped by the security of staying in the UK, thus the EU.

Please tell me why 2.5% of the Scottish voting population cant be convinced to vote for jumping off an indepenace cliff as opposed to jumping off a Brexit cliff.

Peregrina · 01/04/2017 20:34

No one was blaming the BBC for Brexit. I was stating that despite promoting Farage/UKIP at every turn, which they have if you look at the representation on political programmes*, UKIP isn't able to do very well at the ballot box. This in a way gives me more faith in ordinary people, who can smell bullshit.

  • Stuff the American spell checker on this. Or on Farage - for which they offer me Garage or Forage or Fa rage, with the last one being nonsense anyway. UKIP is SKIP or KIP or U KIP. Hmm - UKIP Kipped and Skipped getting any votes. Farage did not help because he was 'Foraging' in the Garage?
