It's not exit, it's independence. Alternatively we should call it sovereignty or self rule.

Peregrina
Voting for the Tories has always been their bottom line. They would sell their souls to the Devil for it.

Really sorry to disappoint you but there is no need, there are sufficient of us who vote for the Tories because we believe they have the best policies and, of course, they have zero opposition at the moment with Corbyn as leader of Labour.

Bobochic
Speaking from personal experience and a conversation my sister and I had only this morning, we both agreed that the result of the EU referendum is the most unexpected and traumatic experience of our lives. For the record we lost both our parents and she lost her husband and I was diagnosed with a brain tumour within a year (April 2015 to April 2016). None of those things remotely cause as as much trauma and uncertainty as Brexit.*

Shock I'm very sorry for your losses but think you and your sister should seriously consider getting help from a psychiatrist.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest excellent post and agree with every word.

Bobochic · 19/01/2017 14:59

Infinite - you get a grip and try to put yourself in the position of a British citizen living in another EU member state.

Bobochic · 19/01/2017 15:00

We do not need psychiatrists. We need tax and immigration lawyers and lots of money to pay them.

What is wrong with asking May to seek Parliamentary approval? Or hold a Referendum on the terms, or seek a GE? Do you really think that democracy is nonsense? Didn't you vote to 'Take Back Control?' (You may not have done, you might have wanted more for the NHS, or to stick it to Cameron.)

I suspect that you are hiding the thread because you don't have any serious arguments.

RortyCrankle · 19/01/2017 15:08

It's the most fucking ridiculous thing I have ever read on here. The nadir of all the tens of thousands of Remainer posts. I doubt it can be topped. Congratulations Bobochic you win the prize.

SemiPermanent · 19/01/2017 15:09

Reconciliation ? ? ? Am I reading this right ? Reconciliation suggests remainers have done something wrong ?

No.
No it doesn't.
This is another example of the sort of of hyperbolic nonsense that Infinite mentioned.

Also, the expectation that a grown adult requires 'help to heal' from a vote that went differently to how she wanted.

Bobo, I too am sorry for your losses Flowers

Peregrina · 19/01/2017 15:13

I also agree that we need reconciliation, because the result of the referendum has unleashed such a poisonous intolerant atmosphere.. I think back to the Olympics when we had no problem celebrating the success of a Somalian refugee who won medals for us, and rejoiced along with him.

SemiPermanent · 19/01/2017 15:16

And this year when he was awarded a knighthood.

We celebrate for & with him now, too.

WrongTrouser · 19/01/2017 15:17

Well it's all gone a bit hyperbolic on here today, hasn't it?

Can I share my favourite joke (hyperbolic reminded me) to lighten the mood

Patient: Doctor, Doctor, this steroid cream has made me grow a penis.

Doctor: Anabolic?

Patient: No, just a penis.

WrongTrouser · 19/01/2017 15:17

Sorry, that was probably inappropriate.

Bobochic · 19/01/2017 15:18

That is because you are entirely ignorant of the very concrete ramifications of Brexit, Rorty. If you understood them (it is really quite easy for British citizens living in other EU countries to understand the issues) you would be traumatised too. As it is, you are too ignorant to understand so all you can do is wait and suffer rather than take action to reorganise your life to your own advantage.

WrongTrouser · 19/01/2017 15:19

Nervous attempt at humour because it has all gone a bit awful. Sorry.

harrypoooter · 19/01/2017 15:20

What about 'self harm'

Peregrina · 19/01/2017 15:22

Had to read that out to get the joke. Smile

time4chocolate · 19/01/2017 15:27

Rortycrankle - post 15.08

That's one of the best replies I have read all day. The hysteria on here today has just gone to a new level (which I didn't think was actually possible Shock).

Wrong - Grin

Motheriffourdragons - British citizens living and working in other EU countries will, in all probability, be subject in future to similar visa, work permit and other restrictions as US citizens. If you want to change employer, you will be behind every EU citizen in the queue. Professional qualifications gained in the U.K. will no longer be recognised. There may well be restrictions (and/or punitive taxation) on movement of capital. Social security contributions and rights will not be transferable.

Ask your American friends for further detail!

Bobochic · 19/01/2017 15:52

Talking about "healing" and "reconciliation" is preposterous. The only course of action is proactive reorganisation of one's future according to new hypotheses that are complex, uncertain and very, very different. It's hard work.

I would love an EU passport but think a French one will have to do.
