Why does my question prove your point wrong?

It's the complete opposite.

You aren't happy with Trumps actions yet are happy to rely on more trade deals with the US.

How do you justify that to yourself?

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 09:26

"Clearly not a lover of the democratic right to protest then Southall. Good to know."

Typical of the unthinking, selfish, comments on MN. What about the vehicles that are burning ...... would you be alright with that if your car was caught up in such a "protest"? You think a democratic right to protest involves destruction of property that is not yours? Yours is a truly dreadful attitude.

Corcory · 31/01/2017 09:29

Being very unhappy about Trump and his actions has nothing to do with us wanting a trade deal. I personally abhor Trump but I feel we still have to trade with the US and I think taking our dislike for Trump and using it as a reason for not dealing with the US at all is just cutting off our nose to spite our face.

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 09:29

I've been away for a month, since Xmas (back only yesterday), and hv been told that Trump (8) was scuppered by certain persons on here, and that Claig may have been suspended. Is this correct, and who is responsible for having (8) deleted?

Bolshybookworm · 31/01/2017 09:38

Oh, I'll be sure to pass on the message to my friend in the us that a bunch of British brexiters think she's being hysterical- she could do with a laugh Grin

Kaija · 31/01/2017 09:42

If I could choose between living under a dictatorship and losing my car, I'd set fire to it myself.

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 09:44

Just a side note on vehicle damage.

Because the Women's March in London was 3 times the size expected, there were no barriers as we walked down Park Lane and alongside very expensive cars.
All completely undamaged.
Maintaining peaceful protest is key.

Many of Trump's economic policies make absolute sense. I get that.
It's autarky and one espoused by the Weimar republic. Many successful companies still in existence now were founded on it. It is for people to judge whether economic interests supersede moral ones.

Inkanta · 31/01/2017 09:45

Kaija - I seem to remember Claig was upset at you just prior to TRUMP 8 being pulled is that right?

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 09:50

Do what you like, Bolshy. One of my grown kids is in the US right now and has seen the violent hysteria and heard some of the ill-informed comments from the protesters. Trump has imposed a moratorium, nothing wrong with that. Would we see this hysteria if California - for example - was going to be attacked imminently and public announcements instructed everyone not to travel far afield, not go to work, stay close to home etc - would the announcements be ignored and instead protests would spring up petulantly decrying that govt was interfering with people's right to move around freely? Time to grow up I think, stop sniffing the white stuff and see reality.

Bolshybookworm · 31/01/2017 09:56

Sorry, but that last post was unintelligible, southall. Some would even say hysterical....

Kaija · 31/01/2017 09:58

Inkanta, Claig did call me a few names in their last thread, which I would guess fell outside the talk guidelines, but I certainly didn't report anything. I think it's much better to let this stuff stand in the open.

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 09:58

"Maintaining peaceful protest is key"

I agree it is key, because if you conduct yourself as violent arses you lose your argument and position.

Interestingly, woman12345 I do not recall such a protest by women in England following Cologne2016. What does that say about the feminists of today? In my day, we would have been marching up Park Lane in a heartbeat, but nowadays we get SILENCE.

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 09:58

In England, still, the prime minister has to abide by the law.
Trump is not. Aspects of his immigration policy are illegal. He is now in breach of US constitution.

Kaija · 31/01/2017 09:59

"Time to grow up I think, stop sniffing the white stuff and see reality."

Good advice.

SemiPermanent · 31/01/2017 09:59

If I remember correctly there was some mutual backslapping between Kaija & Darth about their systematically 'taking down' of Claig & the Trump thread.

All a bit shitty really, Claig had been here for about 7 years+ just sticking within the politics threads and posting away.

Bolshybookworm · 31/01/2017 09:59

Also, it has no link to trumps ban, as the 7 countries listed have not been a source of terrorists. Tell me why it's justified? On what grounds? It's just racist. End of.

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 10:00

I do understand, Bolshy, that my last post was unintelligible to you. I'm sorry about that, but I cant help you.

Inkanta · 31/01/2017 10:01

Kaija - oh right - you didn't report her. Would like to see Claig back.

SemiPermanent · 31/01/2017 10:01

Also, it has no link to trumps ban, as the 7 countries listed have not been a source of terrorists. Tell me why it's justified? On what grounds? It's just racist. End of.

Ask Obama - he named the countries.

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 10:03

Every 72 hours a British man kills a British woman.
I've certainly marched against that.
www.refuge.org.uk/get-help-now/what-is-domestic-violence/domestic-violence-the-facts/

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 10:05

The 7 countries on that list is the list that Obama put together during his administration. It is not a new list, and what it means is that those 7 countries do not/will not provide information on individuals from their countries seeking to enter USA. The reason why Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, for example, are not on the list is because they cooperate with USA Immigration in their inquiries.

SemiPermanent · 31/01/2017 10:06

There's lots of abhorrent things woman, and kudos to those (like you) that raise awareness & fight.

Just a shame that the thousands of weeping & angry liberals can get their protest on about domestic policy in the US, but are simultaneously quiet about things like that in comparison.

SouthallGirl · 31/01/2017 10:07

P.S. Although those 7 countries cooperate in providing info to USA INS, they remain hotbeds of terror training and fundamentalist propaganda.

Headfullofdreams · 31/01/2017 10:07

Ha ha yes it's those pesky liberal elites out marching and protesting, not ordinary people worried about a facist! Who knew there were so many of them.
