I'd go along with that Moneyweek plan.

It seems Nige is heading back to the European place to agitate, good man, should be entertaining. And Ukip are repositioning themselves with a clear directive to harness the frustration arising from lack of action re leaving - if they have the discipline then I'd say it will be worth their while, as there is so much pent up frustration as far as I can tell.

I am wary of that latest poll saying Tory highest satisfaction levels - I think that's fake news, an attempt to foster complacency.

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:08

Fucking Nick Clegg is such a tit.

On Newsnight - wearing safety goggles & making pretzels - using the pretzel making to 'prove' why:
Brexit = Bad!
EU = Good!

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2016 23:08

UKIP want to privatise the NHS - can't see that going down very well with those leave supporters who wanted extra money for the NHS, can you?

www.politics.co.uk/blogs/2016/11/28/the-extreme-right-wing-views-of-new-ukip-leader-paul-nuttall

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:10

Polls, shmolls.

I don't believe any polls nowadays...

BoredofBrexit · 29/11/2016 23:13

So Marmite....Remainers would not want the NHS funding increased, if it was possible to do so....that must be what you are saying there?

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2016 23:14

Love Nick clegg Flowers

BoredofBrexit · 29/11/2016 23:15

Nah, me neither Mango.

You know those three flying ducks ornaments?

Can the Brexit Arms invest in three flying *ucks....

Blair major and Clegg please

BoredofBrexit · 29/11/2016 23:16

Clegg, the troll who lives in his wife's merkin.

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2016 23:17

I would love NHS funding to be increased but brexit is sadly not the way to achieve it. The leave campaign admitted it was lies almost immediately after winning. Labour or the Lib Dems would be the way to go for more funding for the NHS, certainly not Tory or ukip Sad

BoredofBrexit · 29/11/2016 23:21

How could it be 'lies?'

The message said 'we could fund'
It was a suggestion
Can a suggestion be a lie?
A suggestion by a group who had no authority to pass laws?
A suggestion that with the best will could not yet come to pass because we haven't stopped sending the sodding payments to the eu so we can't reallocate anything?
Ffs.

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2016 23:27

The chancellor had said that there will be a £100 billion brexit black hole in the finances - where will these extra funds "suggested" for the NHS come from?

Anecdotally, I had a minor op 3 weeks ago in a local hospital and got chatting to 2 nurses and 1 doctor - they were all in agreement that brexit will be awful for the NHS, both in terms of funding and staffing.

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:27

From that article:

  • Wants to privatise NHS
(So do many other politicians)
  • wants to limit abortions to 12 weeks
(So do many other politicians)
  • wants to ban the burqa
(France)

-"wants to ban discrimination against gay people"
(extrapolated from him saying he thinks people should have the right to live by their religious beliefs - as an atheist I couldn't give a toss about religious beliefs personally, but he didn't say he wanted to 'ban discrimination against gay people', his comments were twisted)

  • "defends sexist comments"
(because he said the comments made about the female linesman by Gray & Keyes were just banter & worse gets said about blokes on Loose Women - He's right, they do say worse on Loose Women).
  • climate change denier
(Loads of them about too - isn't JC's brother one?)

I don't particularly like the man, I think he's an arse, but I'm heartily sick of 'Far Right!' being slung about for everything these days.
It's a phrase that's losing its power now through over (mis)use.

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:31

The chancellor had said that there will be a £100 billion brexit black hole in the finances

Did he?
Where did he get this factual, firm figure from?

I must admit, I'm still reeling from the recession that we plunged into immediately after the referendum.
And that emergency budget we had straight after, where George Osbourne did all those mean things that he promised.

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:33

I don't particularly like the man

In fact, I shouldn't have put 'particularly' in that sentence.

I don't like the man.

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2016 23:41

He got his figures from the OBR - an government body independent of political party.

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.politico.eu/article/theresa-mays-brexit-black-hole/amp/?client=safari

The recession and consequential emergency budget will be necessary if we go off the cliff edge of a hard Brexit. As you know we haven't left yet and a50 wasn't triggered in 23rd June and hopefully never will be

MangoMoon · 29/11/2016 23:47

I know where the figures came from - they are a forecast.

They may be overly pessimistic, they may be overly optimistic; the reality however will not be known until it's known.

The recession & punishment budget were promised* as an immediate* consequence of us voting to Leave.
A forecast that proved to be overly pessimistic it would seem.

InfiniteSheldon · 30/11/2016 07:23

I don't want NHS funding increased I want a more honest and effective spending of the funding it already receives. It's also not rocket science: if we are net contributors to the EU (and that is one of the few actual facts we agree on) then there will be money to distribute when we leave. That's what the slogan on the bus was about. You can lie down on the floor drumming your heels and screaming about lies in the campaign but actually those suggestions were not lies and merely highlighted yet another excellent to Leave hoping we bypass A50 and just go for it

surferjet · 30/11/2016 07:30

I can't believe they're are people STILL moaning about the referendum result.

What part of 'we are leaving the EU' don't they understand?

Harder the better where Brexit is concerned.
( My thought for the day Smile )

I think it's the how (and of course the why) that people don't understand, Surfer.

Bearbehind · 30/11/2016 08:51

I can't believe the extent of Leavers arguments continue to be so shallow.

infinitesheldon I can't believe you think it's as simple as we'll be better off by the net amount we contribute- has it really not occurred to you the very process of leaving the EU will cost many times more than our annual net contributions and that's just for starters.

InfiniteSheldon · 30/11/2016 09:16

No Bear, once again you are confusing your opinions with facts. Yes it will cost us a fortune to Leave, every penny (NOT Euros thank heavens) but that's short term pain for long term gain. Leaving the EU and its narrow rigid trading behaviour will allow us to trade globally on our own terms, it will stop the endless flow to the EU gravy train riders (Neil Kinnock perfect example) My opinion is we will be better off I can't believe you're still buying the pro EU rhetoric but I don't think that it's simple and I don't call you shallow so.please stop calling me names. I stopped posting because of your online bullying Bear but I like this thread so please think before you post.

surferjet · 30/11/2016 09:24

Hate to say it, but it's been lovely here without you. Everyone gets on well. if you've just turned up to ruin it find another thread.

Stop the flow of EU gravy train riders

InformalRoman · 30/11/2016 09:34

Posted too soon:

That includes Nigel of course.

twofingerstoGideon · 30/11/2016 09:37

I think Nigel's had more gravy than almost anyone else and done less for it.
