Kaija Did you actually read that article past the first 2 lines?Confused

Mango, I wasn't the one that brought up ISIS. It's not news. But you were doubting that they welcome Trump. They do.

Kaija · 18/11/2016 22:24

They were also one of the very few groups outside the UK to congratulate us on Brexit. Make of that what you will.

Coldsosocold · 18/11/2016 22:26

That means they want to hang on the tails of popular news for publicity, that's all. Not much bandwidth in congratulating the losing side.

Kaija · 18/11/2016 22:26

OK.

On the subject of ISIS

Taken from your ISIS welcome Trump article:

"...While ISIS and other radical Islamist groups are celebrating Trump’s victory because they believe it validates their prejudices about America or foreshadows its decline as a world power, Trump’s ascent may bode ill for them if he decides to team up with Russian President Vladimir Putinn^, with whom he has so far enjoyed a warm (albeit impersonal) relationship...."

*Hold the front page!!

ISIS: another inane rant shocker!!*

Kaija · 18/11/2016 22:33

ISIS' stated aim is to radicalise western Muslims, recruit them to their cause and bring about holy war. While Muslims are overwhelmingly integrated into western society, this isn't happening, except in very small numbers. So an openly islamophobic administration which is showing itself to be hostile to Muslims is the biggest ally they could hope for.

jaws5 · 18/11/2016 22:36

did your son do his research on HC too? how unpleasant... you sneering at a child's curiosity is quite disgusting, actually. He has eyes and ears and witnessed Trump behaving in an appalling way many times., behaviour that would be unacceptable for children. Yes, I could have excused Trump's behaviour by saying that Hillary used a different email server, but I think that to place this in parallel to xenophobia and hatred would be appeassing. That's your territory.

Tryingtosaveup · 18/11/2016 22:41

Bored, where's that chippy? Do they do veggie sausages?
It's really post lies, or at least post " project fear". George's lies about what every family will lose .
Unemployment down, consumer spending up, inflation down.
I like post EU. Can't wait.
I like John Redwood's idea. We just pay our bar bill and leave.

Mango:

History will say 'the U.K. made some changes to its trading arrangements with its nearest neighbours'

I watched that too. I think she actually said that in 100 years history will say the UK made some changes to its trading arrangements....

I will be dead in 100 years. So will my children, probably. I am much more concerned about the state of the economy over the next 10, 20, 30 years. The idea that the shitstorm will have worked itself out by the year 2116 isn't massively comforting. Maybe I'm just overemotional though...

BoredofBrexit · 18/11/2016 22:43

Jaws - wow you totally misunderstood Shock.

Wine cheers Surfer

CeciledeVolanges · 18/11/2016 23:00

Hello everyone! Just popping in to remind you that Thanksgiving is coming up. When the settlers were getting cold and hungry, they were probably quite glad to have some "haves" in the neighbourhood and if they had concentrated on kicking their arses at that point, they wouldn't have survived long enough to be able to try to exterminate them and eradicate their culture later on. Vengeance is only sweet for the very short time until you notice how very much more self-defeating and counterproductive it is. Not every single poor person voted for Trump and for Brexit and Trump will only help his own - not the struggling working class.

BoredofBrexit · 18/11/2016 23:01

JawSS you are being cute. Goodnight.

TuckersBadLuck · 19/11/2016 00:52

I watched that rather nice, grounded lady on QT as well.

"History will say..." could apply to WW1 couldn't it? Or at least the Napoleonic wars. It doesn't make the whole experience any less momentous if you live through it, or through the aftermath though does it?

"History will say..." 'there were civil disturbances in Rwanda in 1994, during which there were some civilian deaths'.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 19/11/2016 02:05

Saw that & laughed

Oh surprise, surprise.........

InfiniteSheldon · 19/11/2016 06:33

Catching up this morning: I don't think history will say that in 100 years I think this is a pivotal moment in European history. The British have voted to stop the EU Superstate the vote wasn't about a trading block it was about the insidious political evolutional of said trading block. The underlying point made on this thread last night is very interesting tho if you think the EU is just a trading block then then the 100 years comment is valid it really isn't THAT big a deal. If you accept the EU juggernaut worry is valid (ie it's not just a trading block) then all argument 're sovereignty and 'taking back control' are valid. And therefore the Leavers vote has a sound basis wether you agree with it or not. It's the mythical ' reason' so many Remainers refuse to acknowledge.

Jaws, I too am interested how you explained HC to your son, your view of DT is so fixed is your view of HC the polar opposite and can you not see that 'his questioning mind' us actually just reflecting yours. I am no Trump supporter, far from HC is vile and to reduce her behaviour to using a different email server wilfully ignores all the other issues (rape apologist, war mongerer). If you want to use your sons behaviour in a debate expect to see it analysed its not vile to do so.

jaws5 · 19/11/2016 09:50

infinite once more, I haven't explained anyone's behaviour to my son. He has watched DT behaving in a way that a child finds shocking, and he couldn't understand why people voted for him. Tony Blair could be said to be questionable too, (I marched against the Iraq war, so I do think he is very questionable), but to a child he would seem a civilised politician, then it can be explained why he's behaved badly. DT starts off by being outrageously insulting to women and minorities, that's there for all to see. Politicians will make the wrong choices, but when they start by provoking hatred, and that's the way they get elected, well, that's a very different game and a dangerous one. Any child can see that.

MangoMoon · 19/11/2016 09:51

Actually, agree with everything infinite posted.

I do, personally, think of the EU in its current form & path as way more than a trading block.
So I take back my comment from last night.

And Tucker, your post was just a load of hyperbolic shit quite frankly.
The genocide in Rwanda will never be reduced to 'some civilian deaths'.
WWI, the Napoleonic Wars - in fact any war in history will always have impact.
The fucking Brexit vote was a vote.
Bits of paper which we put crosses on.
Nothing remotely like the million people murdered in Rwanda.
