I wasn't going to start another of these threads after the second ended last night but today's ruling in the High court is pretty significant so I thought I'd ask again

Are you happy with the current state of play?

I am becoming worried about another thing now: when all of this goes tits up who will the "people" blame?

valentine sadly it's becoming increasingly apparent that Leavers will blame Remainers for not being positive enough, wanting it to fail, talking the economy down blah blah blah

Agree with bears last post

Yes Bear Sad

twofingerstoGideon · 08/11/2016 09:18

Yes, they will blame 'the traitors'.

pointythings · 08/11/2016 09:40

Not enough room in the Tower for 16 million people though...

But seriously speaking I am sad to see how little understanding people have of how democracy works in the UK.

vulpeculaveritas · 08/11/2016 09:42

Traitors is a funny word to use for 16 million people objecting to something in a democracy.

Very anti democratic, very much like the kind of language used by dictators.

I can imagine being told "since you weren't talking positive, it's you removers who tanked the economy, downed the £ and brought this great mess upon us. Now take us out of here please because it's you who has the responsibility of correcting it all.". I heard a caller on LBC the other day (can't remember which show it was) and he was going on and on about how ANY thing and EVERY thing is acceptable so long as "all leavers" get their way about what they wanted: foreigners coming here who don't live like us and have a different way of life than us. And he was insisting that he must not be called racist at any cost. Angry
I think it's becoming obvious that our younger generation was overwhelmingly against leaving. What I don't understand is what kind of brainwashing does it take to make sure no amount of reason gets into the way of "feelings". Confused months after the result I am still trying to get my head around this. It's scary what's out in open now.

Valentine2 · 08/11/2016 14:57

Someone I know was told explicitly by one such moron that it will be reasonable for the "traitors" ( read Remainers) to stop moaning, accept that the economy is about to be doomed, keep their heads down and work hard to reverse the fall of economy and thus prove they love this country. Confused that's hideous thinking. (This will get an instant LTB in the relationship board too Grin ). But how do we put this back into the bottle now, this things that's unleashed by the Fuckwit Tory parties and mainstreamed thoroughly in their conference? I think there is a very strong case against Farage in a court of law about this. Against Cameron too.

Seriously ?

A war. It's the only way. The UK long ago perfected the art of transmogrifying civil war into actual foreign war. Look how England managed to stop infighting, and make Scotland the enemy. And when we subsumed Scotland, there were the other European powers to keep us occupied (or rather for us to keep occupied).

I look forward to headlines about how most remainers are really jihadist sympathisers, just to set some hares running.

"Islamist extremists oppose Brexit" is probably snappy enough to be understood by the knuckle-dragging contingent of UKIP. Although it might need a photo of someone brown with a beard to ensure they get the message Sad.

This could be interesting:

Brexit: CPS considers complaint that leave campaigns misled voters

Again, unlikely to cause any substantial change, but wouldn't it be nice to know you can't actually just lie to the electorate and then walk away whistling a merry tune when you've got what you want?

Valentine2 · 08/11/2016 16:05

I won't for the life of me forget that whistling tune. Never.
