Clearly Boris didn't get the memo, on when to quit the power games, even after Gove schooled him in the dark arts of the Tory Leadership....

So the Tory Smackdown rolls on whilst Corbyn STILL clings on. UKIP has now entered the race to make a challenge for who can make the biggest leadership contest shambles.

In The Blue Corner
May strikes fear into the hearts of EU citizens as she counts her bargaining chips.
Gove strikes fear into the hearts of humans, with his Martian twitch.
Loathsom strikes fear in the hearts of Britains by talking about babies brains.
Crabb strikes fear into the hearts of Torys by suggesting a plan that Corbyn might like. (and that beard doesn't help).
And Fox.
Well he just turned up.

Johnson is still waiting in the wings to stab Gove. He'd quite fancy a seat at the cabinet table too.
Osborne has gone quite again and we wait with baited breathe to see if he is the 'Charlie off Casualty' of the Tory Party (y'know whatever happens he somehow survives like a cockroach).

In The Red Corner
Corbyn apologies. So we know he's getting a bit desperate.
Will the Unions figure out something else to do other than sit with their head in hands.
Angela Eagle is still doing jellyfish impressions and hasn't found that backbone.
We STILL don't know who the fuck Owen Smith is?
Will Bliar's chicken's finally come home to roost?
The Cult of Momentum, rumbles on. We aren't quite sure who they actually vote for, but they seem to like their Dear Leader.
When will this country next have an opposition party?

Its kinda getting boring guys, we need some action now. End the Chicken Coup! The Tories are definitely out doing in the high drama stakes.

In the Purple Corner
Farage has gone! Hurrah. We hope only that he stays under that rock.
(Don't count on it. They'll wheel him out when they need publicity)
Will Leadsom be elected leader? Oh sorry, wrong party. I was getting confused for a second there.
Will they throw the cuckoo Carswell out? [:)]
Will they be able to find a less offensive leader than Farage who can unite them in their common goal of errrr..... yeah. That.
How long before one of their candidates has to apologise for something?

And I suppose I should ask, when will a50 be triggered....? And by whom?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

Frankie Boyle's deeply serious analysis of the Tory Party contest:
"A sort of X Factor for choosing the antichrist" Grin

I can't see May standing down. I could see her losing out to Gove, simply because she's the current favourite, and the favourite's never win, apparently. When Cameron got elected he had been second on the first ballot, but the margins were much closer.

SwedishEdith · 05/07/2016 21:57

I think the other 'Ann Marie someone, MP of somewhere' supported Gove. I know!

derxa · 05/07/2016 22:04

I have to say I love Theresa Blush not because of her politics but because she does the grind day in day out.

bonnie1981 · 05/07/2016 22:11

its not just elderly members in the tory party. I have switched from labour to tory (and that says a lot about how bad labour are right now) and plan to vote for Theresa May.

(although as a union member I can also vote for the labour leader and no I didn't vote Corbyn)

bonnie1981 · 05/07/2016 22:13

Theresa is a strong MP, she gets on with the job and doesn't fluster like potential labour leader Angela Eagle. Nor is she, in her own words, 'showy'. She doesn't glam herself up or play to the cameras, she's not afraid to say what she thinks. She's up there with Clinton and Merkel and that would be a pretty impressive trio of leaders.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/07/2016 22:18

Bless Angela Eagle but she always seems on the verge of tears which does not instil confidence.

Chalalala · 05/07/2016 22:18

she's not afraid to say what she thinks

True. My problem with her is not style, but substance - what she thinks.

What are Tories are scared of…an electable opposition. They only want to be in power. But it is not going to be Labour that get them out. New Europe, new politics, lots of LibDems (please).

Ms Gove does not have her weekly column this week.
My. How interesting.

Newsnight. Maybe lend some May votes to Gove to knock out Leadsom…

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/07/2016 22:38

But...but what does that mean?!

SwedishEdith · 05/07/2016 22:38

Crabb has a nice speaking voice. Just a pity about what he uses it for.

Chalalala · 05/07/2016 22:39

I think a Green-Lib Dem-SNP-Labour alliance may be the only way forward... If Labour finally admit that they can't do this on their own. Oh and the small matter of finding a decent leader.

Almost there...

citroenpresse · 05/07/2016 22:39

YUK Davies

citroenpresse · 05/07/2016 22:40

Crabb did really well.

citroenpresse · 05/07/2016 22:42

Tory in a LibDem tie….what does THAT mean?

GingerIvy · 05/07/2016 22:45

Theresa May has published her tax returns for the last four years. Michael Gove has already published his and Andrea Leadsom has said she'd do so if she makes it to the final round of the leadership contest.

Doing so, the home secretary said: "It is clearly important for all leadership candidates to be open and transparent about their tax affairs. I was very happy to publish mine today, and hope others will follow suit."

In each year, Mrs May earned a salary of between £112,426 and £119,118 in her positions as MP and home secretary. She also received several thousand pounds each year in dividends.

Her total income tax paid ranged between £40,023 and £44,012.

GingerIvy · 05/07/2016 22:46

Any reaction to AL not doing so now, but waiting to see if she is in the final two? She has seemed fairly reluctant in previous comments.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/07/2016 22:49

AL isn't bathing herself in glory by holding off publishing them when the other two candidates have not.

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2016 22:50

But...but what does that mean?!
What was that directed at?

Tory in a Lib Dem tie!?!
Haha welcome to cynics corner! You have caught the paranoia. This is great. Asking questions. Grin This makes me happy.

It could mean he likes yellow. He could be trying to signal he's playing to the centre ground. It could me he got dressed in a hurry, and his blue tie is in the wash after last night's karaoke session.

citroenpresse · 05/07/2016 23:09

Only relevant if you are actually watching Newsnight at this very moment…

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2016 23:12

Hahaha Clearly an appeal to all parties in the progressive alliance he's been plugging today Wink.

That or he's wearing the one his grandkids bought him.

Or he lost a bet.
