Will this insanity ever end?

Bugger. A shame I would have been quite happy to put my word in.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 12:51

I bet his next move will be picking up the pen to commence writing his next Churchill fanboy tome.

Johnson: 'Looks like I'll be spending more time at home darling'

Mrs Johnson:

And the wrangling begins:

Jeremy Wright: Stephen Crabb has credibility to make a good deal for Britain

BBC News Channel

Attorney General Jeremy Wright has defended his backing of Work and Pensions Secretary Stephen Crabb for Conservative party leader.

Asked about his lack of experience - Mr Crabb has been an MP since 2005 - Mr Wright argues that no one has the experience to deal with the Brexit negotiations. "We're in uncharted territory here," he says.

"I want somebody with the competence and the credibility to make a good deal for Britain."

Should we start a campaign to join Labour and keep Corbyn in? We are leaving the EU, May or Gove will be PM and if we kept Corbyn in Labour it would be the icing on the cake!

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 12:56

We need to have a decent opposition when this is being negotiated.

Corbyn needs to go.

ObiWanCannelloni · 30/06/2016 12:59

howabout
5 declared before deadline
Liam disgraced former minister fox
Andrea led some
Stephens got crabs
Gove-underwood
May

Nikki Morgan ruled herself out

MrsLupo · 30/06/2016 13:00

God, Toby Young trying to claim that Boris not standing for PM is 'proof' that he didn't run for Brexit out of personal political ambition.

Uh huh. Hmm

Showmethewaytogohome · 30/06/2016 13:01

DoinIt agreed

Have been having wrangles on FB with far left friends who think he is some kind of che guevara in sandals

They will not listen that he is unelectable oh and he doesn't actually have a party to lead

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:01

Toby Young looks like a scrotum. I discount everything he says.

howabout · 30/06/2016 13:02

Answered my own Q. Crabb is the only candidate who voted against gay marriage. Gove and May both voted in favour but were under the cabinet whip so not sure that counts. Doesn't appear to be an issue Dr Fox and Mum Andrea think much about.

Liam Fox: Free movement of people 'a betrayal' of referendum result

Liam Fox
BBC
Any Brexit deal which includes free movement would be a betrayal of the EU referendum result, Tory leadership candidate Liam Fox says.

Launching his campaign - a world of opportunity - he says free movement is a political preference which needs to challenged.

He says people had made their views on free movement clear - "any back sliding will be a betrayal of what they decided."

He adds that the UK should approach the post-EU era with "confidence".

JamieVardysParty · 30/06/2016 13:03

Did I make it up that Morgan initially wanted a female leader and a Remainer?

And she's now backing Gove Grin

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 13:05

So failure to secure your political ambition proves you were never ambitious in the first place?

O. K. Hmm

howabout · 30/06/2016 13:06

X-post Obi

Penny instils confidence so I think her backing is positive.

GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 13:06

It has been a surreal week.

ObiWanCannelloni · 30/06/2016 13:06

Johnson:
"Having reviewed circumstances in parliament" ruled himself out...interesting words...

Some journos pointing out it sounds like speech was written for his running announcement and he just changed the end. Gove had spent 48 hours whipping votes for Johnson apparently so what the hell?

Do you think someone told him they've huge dirt on him that would be coming out if he didn't back off? Or simply that Gove did do a last minute knife at close quarters taking all his support?

Hamishandthefoxes · 30/06/2016 13:07

Mum Andrea also wasn't quite as upfront about her family tax arrangements as a prospective pm needs to be (even in comparison with DC!).

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 13:08

So if Gove is PM
Osborne stays as Chancellor?
(It sounded like Osborne had cut a deal, the other day didn't)

If May is PM
Then what?
Osborne?
Chris Grayling?
Gove?

I think Johnson will end up out in the cold and not in the Cabinet, whilst I would be surprised if Osborne was dropped.

Who seems to have played his cards most here? I'm going to hazard one and say its NOT Gove despite appearance...

I hav

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 13:09

Liam Fox is right.

Negotiating to leave the EU but remain in the EEA is just as much a betrayal of the Brexit vote as a second referendum would be.

People did not vote for everything to be exactly the same except now we get no say in how things work.

If we're going to accept this ridiculous referendum as having legal validity (which I question), then let's explore what it means to be properly outside the EU.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:09

howabout · 30/06/2016 13:09

Jamie this is Nicky who wants to academise all schools but doesn't really care whether we do or not and also the front woman for whenever GO needs a fallguy prior to a u-turn so hardly a surprise.
