Faisal Islam says he was told this a couple of hours ago

twitter.com/simonnricketts/status/747055676413845504

And why don't they have one? Boris never expected to win.

(Anna Soubry MP)

As evidenced by the complete lack of leadership about this hugely important and divisive issue post-referendum. No plan, no action, and where is Boris?

What an omnishambles.

that summarises it TheElements :(
I'm pinning desperate hopes on the Lib Dems, It's a massive long shot, but at least they've been pro Europe all the way along.

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:06

Joy
There is no one to lead.
There was no plan for this
They did not expect or want to win
This is bigger and wider than Trade agreements -
We have all been played - Remainers and Leavers

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/06/2016 21:08

I read on Twitter that David Miliband was spotted in Heathrow today.

Although Twitter does lie to me from time to time.

Oblomov16 · 26/06/2016 21:11

What was the remain plan please? Could someone link, to what exactly was supposed to happen in a step-but-step process. It may well be noted, it's just I haven't actually seen it. Where is that please?

What do you expect the leave plan to be? It's unchartered area. No other country has done it. There are even disagreements re the legal aspects of the actual process : about whether negotiations are actually allowed before article 50 is implemented. Or whether that (article 50) has to be done first prior to actual negotiations.
But what is supposed to happen, the basics of, have been documented.
So what exactly is that you want to know. In particular?

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:12

Mitzy What like Zorro coming to the rescue? Did Mr Blair Make the call? Christ Alive this just gets better

RiceCrispieTreats · 26/06/2016 21:13

What was the remain plan please?

To remain in the EU. No change. Ergo no plan required, other than keep following all the EU meetings etc that were already on the schedule as per normal.

Namehanger · 26/06/2016 21:14

So 4/5th of MP's you didn't want to leave the EU, but can you please come and help us out because we don't have a clue what to do or what we actually want.

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:15

Oblomov The Remain plan was that - to Remain! All plans within the EU are ratified and agreed by the member states including the UK

Yep - it is unchartered which is kind of why you need a plan really - to work out where you are going and how

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/06/2016 21:15

I imagine him sweeping into Labour HQ like a Jackie Collins hero and everyone taking a sharp intake of breath.....

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/06/2016 21:16

And he'll say something like 'I'm back bitches!' and then click his fingers.

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:17

Mitzy That made me laugh - thank you!

Still laughing at the image

Namehanger · 26/06/2016 21:18

The remain plan was to remain in the EU.
Don't see what else we need to demonstrate. We never said that things would get better, immigration would be cut, the economy would be better , the moon was made of blue cheese.

I suppose therefore the leave plan was to leave the EU. However you did say that the NHS would get £350 million a week, the economy would be better, immigration would be curbed etc.. That is where the plan is required.

Muddlingthroughtoo · 26/06/2016 21:19

It's really down to the government to have an exit plan. Seeing as DC is leaving before we envoke clause 50, it'll be up to the next PM to set the plan in motion.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2016 21:21

a plan is something you do in advance, not make up as you go along.

noblegiraffe · 26/06/2016 21:23

Boris, Gove, IDS, they are the government. FFS. What other government should be sorting this out?

I am about to put my house on the market and am presently applying for a new job. S**t timing, I am expecting my sale price to tank and the jobs to disappear....

I am scared, I am angry that you fg idiots didn't have a bloody plan.

RiceCrispieTreats · 26/06/2016 21:30

Great summary, ElementSong

Joysmum · 26/06/2016 21:31

show you can talk about "they" but "they" aren't in power.

We, and by that I mean the collective "we" of the electorate get to decide who is best to lead us.

For me it won't be any of the big 3 Brexiters. For many of the people I know who voted Leave, it won't be any of the big 3. For the 48% of people who voted Remain, it won't be any of the big 3.

My thinking is logical in believing that our direction going forwards will be to negotiate for the free trade agreement and accept the compromises required.

I also think the dominoes effect is in motion and it's only a matter of time before the EU reforms to be more like the free trade agreement without the superstate ambitions as was first intended.

NashvilleQueen · 26/06/2016 21:32

It is an unmitigated fucking omnishambles.

PattyPenguin · 26/06/2016 21:32

Well, apparently there is a kind of a plan. But it may not work.

According to the Torygraph,
"Boris Johnson and eurosceptic Cabinet ministers will this week call on David Cameron to appoint a team to begin informal negotiations on Britain's exit from the European Union."
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/25/boris-johnson-and-eurosceptic-ministers-to-tell-david-cameron-th/

However, because the EU wants the UK to get on and leave if it's leaving, it doesn't have to agree to informal negotiations. This from the Grauniad:
"London and Brussels appear headed for stalemate two days before a European Union summit to discuss Britain’s vote to leave.

With Europe’s leaders divided over how to negotiate Brexit and Britain apparently reluctant to initiate formal talks on leaving, an EU source said lawyers had concluded that a member state could not be forced to launch the process.

But a senior EU official stressed that, by the same token, Brussels could refuse overtures for even informal talks before the exit process is officially initiated – a course that prominent Brexit leaders including Boris Johnson want to pursue."
www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/26/eu-may-refuse-informal-brexit-talks-until-uk-triggers-article-50

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:37

I do think we need to find a way to galvanise this anger in the right direction. I am frustrated in that I don't know how

I am a spotter of issues and at a low level creator of solutions BUT this is beyond my conception - any ideas and I am all ears

howtorebuild · 26/06/2016 21:39

I always thought there was the touch of psychopath about the Cameron government. Yes they played the people.

We now have hope. We have a potential GE now and can stop the misery these fuckers cause by electing a Labour government. Labour PLP really need to get their shit together quickly.

RiceCrispieTreats · 26/06/2016 21:42

But a senior EU official stressed that, by the same token, Brussels could refuse overtures for even informal talks before the exit process is officially initiated – a course that prominent Brexit leaders including Boris Johnson want to pursue.

I see.

But nothing stops a UK government leader having bilateral talks with as many of his 27 chums as are willing to open their door to him, in order to sound them one by one on what kind of a deal they'd each be willing to cut him.

Of course, to do that you need a government leader willing to do the job...

PattyPenguin · 26/06/2016 21:44

Indeed, Rice, and you'd also need member state leaders willing to speak to him.

Showmethewaytogohome · 26/06/2016 21:45

Joy

As people have said 'they are in power' they are part of the current government
As I have said this is far bigger than trade agreements - those who have stated that the referendum should be accepted as part of democracy (btw it does not at all) should understand that democracy has been undermined by the politicking of those involved in the Leave campaign and Remain with the Tory party
Who would want the posion chalice where AT LEAST 48% of the population are gainst you - lets add the 16/17 year olds that may be eligiable to vote soon too
We have all been royally played
