Brexit

To ask if Leave voters would still vote the same way, knowing what they know now? And what people who didn't vote now feel?

I think I'd find it easier to accept the result if I knew that the majority of the country were still happy with the decision to leave, now that they realise that the economic predictions were not scaremongering, that there really is no fallback plan for how to forge a new deal with the EU and now that the leave campaign appear to be backtracking on many of their claims.

No judgment, it's just that the decision is not binding yet. There are reports in the media of people regretting their vote to leave but I don't know how widespread a feeling that is.

I voted leave and would do so again in a heartbeat, as I read the Five Presidents Report which sets out the ideal future of the EU as the EU Presidents see it. Their manifesto in their own words, from the horses mouth.

I want no part of that regime.

Candypops14 · 25/06/2016 22:03

Voted leave and would again without hesitation. I'm not old btw-under 28

Jodiebee1986 · 25/06/2016 22:04

I'm happy with my leave vote :)

BriteRainbowBright · 25/06/2016 22:09

Absolutely, I would vote leave again. In fact I would do so even more determinedly after seeing such viciousness come from remain supporters on social media since the result.

nuttymango · 25/06/2016 22:14

I'm happy that I voted to leave, yes.

21stCenturyBreakdown · 25/06/2016 22:14

I voted Leave and I stand by that

I think that if you voted leave, then when you or your kids lose their jobs, or benefits are reduced, or taxes go up - all very likely as a result of Brexit - you cannot complain. Suck it up.

No problem. Brexit poses a number of personal risks to me - the nature of my job means it's now at risk; I've recently bought a house that may well go into negative equity and I have a high percentage mortgage on which the interest rate may rise. I voted Leave nonetheless because I feel it's in the best interests of the country and the long term benefits outweigh the personal risks it presents me in the shorter term (and it's important to note they are just risks - all anyone can do at this point is speculate).

It's true that as a group the leavers are less educated and older

The statistics support that but it’s not true of all of us - I’m 28 and educated to post-graduate level.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 25/06/2016 22:17

Happy to have voted leave and would do so again.

rjet1245 · 25/06/2016 22:18

Voted leave, never doubted decision and don't now. Looking forward to see what Brexit brings

bookbuddy · 25/06/2016 22:24

I voted remain and am very proud to have done so today has been spent researching Irish citizenship for my children so that they will have the same benefits as I in relation to free movement and work outside of England. I believe England will survive and I hope that many of the environmental, employment and humanitarian Eu regulations will survive. I am however unsure that the education system and NHS will survive based on the fact they each have problems and are seen by the far right as wasteful, old fashioned etc. England is divided & unhappy it doesn't take much to convince people when they are disillusioned with the current regime. Ops I'm scaremongering "slaps hand" Blush

monkeyandlion2012 · 25/06/2016 22:27

Voted leave
Am 26
Apart from poor writing skills am well educated
My jobs on the line now
Would do it again in a heartbeat
And no am not racist

TheOldMonkey · 25/06/2016 22:27

I voted leave and am totally content with the outcome and have no regrets. I am educated above degree level. Last Wednesday when the polls showed a clear remain vote, I was saddened but would have accepted the majority vote. That is democracy. I am disgusted with the childish reaction of some remainers. They reacted in a similar way last year when Conservatives were voted in.

EssexMummy1234 · 25/06/2016 22:28

sounds like the majority of replies are all for leaving, chin up OP it's a brave new world out there :-)

mrsclooneytoyou · 25/06/2016 22:31

I am entitled to Eu citizenship for my self and my children. I won't be taking it. We will be fine, they will get medical help when needed and are and will be well educated.

The world is still turning and the sky has not fallen in.

I do have some grips going spare if anyone has misplaced theirs

Ackvavit · 25/06/2016 22:31

Leave people - very short responses on this thread. Please please tell me the benefits of your vote? What will my children and grandchildren get from your vote, strategy and policies that will make their life better?

calli335 · 25/06/2016 22:33

I voted leave and I would do it again. Of course the huge change is going to cause shock waves but long term I think our country will be a better place.

mrsclooneytoyou · 25/06/2016 22:35

I don't need to justify my vote. Last time I looked we lived in a democracy. Remain lost but people are acting like it is a personal attack on them. It is not.

KathyBeale · 25/06/2016 22:35

"They sell more to us than we buy"?

I don't understand that. Can someone explain?

longestlurkerever · 25/06/2016 22:35

Thank you all for engaging with my question. I do feel comforted that some are hopeful of a better future. I have felt genuine grief and despair since the vote and it does help to know that not everyone feels the same.

My understanding is that we are the 5th largest economy in the world. That gives us trading power. Other countries will negotiate free trade/movement deals with us because they won't want to lose our market. In real terms that means we can negotiate mutually beneficial deals with the countries we want to have parity with and less so with the countries that have less to offer us

Norway and Switzeland have never been in the EU and are peaceful, prosperous countries. GReece and Spain are in the EU and have been for 30+ years and are in dire financial straits.

bertsdinner · 25/06/2016 22:38

Voted leave and would again. I feel trepidation at the current turmoil but I expected it.
Im not going to discuss the "benefits" of my vote as there is no point.

Ackvavit · 25/06/2016 22:40

Change I understand - I have dealt with huge changes. What are the changes, plans, strategies? The propaganda was all lies so please tell me the plans you have are solid? It's my families future you now hold. I pay higher rate tax and qualify for no benefits. I am praying that the our voters all work in full time employment, understand the logistics of the vote and claim no benefits if they are fit to work.

calli335 · 25/06/2016 22:42

"They sell more to us than we buy"?

I don't understand that. Can someone explain?

I think what it means is that EU countries won't hike their prices up just for the UK in protest of our exit. They will still trade as normal.

bookbuddy · 25/06/2016 22:42

I don't believe that every brexiter is racist/ uneducated or any of the other nastiness that's been branded about. I can actually see why people have voted out, I just think most of the issues in England are government related and the leave campaign were rather good at using the Eu's failings against them and rather good a lying too. Now which political party is going to sort this mess out? It's taken over a decades worth of labour, conservatives and a little mix of liberals to make this mess. They should have helped the people of England instead of scapegoating the EU and dividing a country.

mrsclooneytoyou · 25/06/2016 22:44

I pay high rate tax and am in full time employment. I have also never claimed benefits ( although I don't see the relevance in this) Hmm. I really do not understand why you think my out vote is wrecking your families life!? It certainly isn't wrecking mine.

As I said previously we are entitled to EU passports but will not be applying for them.

BMW6 · 25/06/2016 22:46

Ackvavit
I can only tell you what I voted to walk away from - please read the Five Presidents Report.

The things I want are what is not in that future.
