Seriously? majority of people who voted for leave wanted control of our borders, we brought into your story of an Australian style point system now it seems there's still going be freedom of labour movement which is basically the same thing expect they get less legal rights.

I didn't just vote leave for immigration but yes it was a big reason and if I known this, if remain had a better hammered this home I bet MANY leave voters would not have voted the way they did. If anything if this happens, many leave voters will join the remain voters in rage at the lies we been fed. (NHS, Immigration)

I have been a vocal leave supporter on here but now I am feeling pretty scared about what I have voted for. I blame the remain campaign for having an totally shit and ineffective campaign and Cameron should never have been the leader of the remain camp, as majority of people despise him and don't take any notice of what he says.

I'm in NI too, I've seen a lot of resentment that this was a result that carried by England. Even from unionists.

We may be part of the UK but England as an entity isn't liked that much by either side really.

I'm fb the OP's terms it's complicated.

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:09

btw, I only have one good friend who I'd call a Westbrit as a joke. Rice, I suggest you don't try it in a Belfast pub.

TTwidow · 26/06/2016 17:13

Clandestino I think there is some truth in that article and a real possibility we won't actually leave the EU. Whoever instigates enacting article 50 could possibly be remembered forever as the PM who broke up the UK. And who wants that???

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:18

Not sure TT but Boris doesn't look exactly elated. The thing is, it was clear Cameron would resign.

freetrampolineforall · 26/06/2016 17:25

And to anyone who thinks that the NI is just that, an NI issue - please god you are too young remember the IRA bombing campaign on the mainland. I live in N England and grew up with the fear of them - actually in Manchester for the one 20 years ago. We don't want to go back to that shit and Brexit may nudge us back there if it screws up the Good Friday agreement.

StrictlyMumDancing · 26/06/2016 17:37

I know free. I've been in the same building as two bombs and in the near vicinity of one. The last was 7-7 the two before were IRA. I have friends who think bombings won't happen when we close the borders - I have pointed out that all these were home grown ffs. We'd have more luck closing the internet. Their answer 'well the irish (republic) don't want a ton of protestants in their lives so they won't bomb this time'. Drawing a map still doesn't help these people!

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:40

well the irish (republic) don't want a ton of protestants in their lives so they won't bomb this time'.

The Itish in ROI don't care that much about that anymore.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/06/2016 17:41

Clandestino Oh please let that be right.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/06/2016 17:42

Sorry I meant the link in the Independent.

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:43

Lass, I'm sorry to disappoint you but the Irish in NI think differently. That's the problem.

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:45

Sorry I meant the link in the Independent.

Yes, that would be nice. But it's only assumptions.

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:54

I just read few articles published on FB from continental newspapers and the news about the British sending "the mob" home are all over the first pages. With the smiling Farage. Who didn't want to be known as a xenophobe and racist? It looks like the British are no proud to be both.

Clandestino · 26/06/2016 17:54

now proud

StrictlyMumDancing · 26/06/2016 17:59

That was my point too cland. Whether or not roi are interested doesn't mean there aren't sections of ni that are, and those can be dangerous enough on their own. Like any other faction of disgruntled people wherever they are.

RebelRogue · 26/06/2016 18:08

We want to know roughly who comes in and roughly in what numbers

What the actual fuck? They knew this ROUGHLY while we were in!!! Bunch of dickbutts..all of them!

Baconyum · 26/06/2016 18:35

NONE of the worst ramifications for northern Ireland, Scotland EU nationals already living here were properly considered.

It's not as well known due to the Irish question but there are Scots nationalists that will use violence too. Plus have folk forgotten the high number of Irish in Scotland? I'm quarter Irish, people in Ireland north and south are seriously worried it's gonna kick off.

Family here in Scotland talking not only of getting passports but emigrating to the south.

I think there's a distinct possibility of major 'brain drain' emigration of Brits for political and economic reasons.

fakenamefornow · 26/06/2016 18:39

OP how could you not know this? Others have mentioned you should have done your research (you should) but this particular piece of information was being shouted from the rooftops, you didn't even have to do any research to find it. I can only assume that there must be loads of other absolutely basic stuff are you ignorant of.

Valentine2 · 26/06/2016 20:04

OP
I think it's about time someone sums this thread up for you and other Leavers. Here is what I think has happened in the most brief words:
we have a referendum whose result won't be implemented practically ever and a high tax and inflation for free Because the Bank of England mean business. a recession to boot probably. Not to mention an even more out of control property market now. All for a Leave assertion which even if implemented somehow, will not result in what Leavers hoped for immigration and trade deals. Congrats you have taken part imagine thing that screwed us up big time.

The only silver lining here is that probably all these Bridiots will now realise what the Remain were trying to explain before referendum .

Valentine2 · 26/06/2016 20:08

Now I absolutely totally completely understand why the fucking Bliar clan was building a big property port folio in the northern areas big time.

Valentine2 · 26/06/2016 20:09

I am counting on Corbyn now.

OrangesandLemonsNow · 26/06/2016 20:21

I am counting on Corbyn now

Well good luck with that. He currently has a rapidly depleting shadow cabinet and is about to face a vote of no confidence.

Valentine2 · 26/06/2016 20:59

oranges
I just have this feeling that he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

OrangesandLemonsNow · 26/06/2016 21:02

I just have this feeling that he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Then Labour loses the next GE.

He may appeal to Labour members (although that isn't as strong as it was) he doesn't appeal to the wider Labour voters.

Not Downing Street, anyway. Wink
