I regret the way I voted.

After a long day reading Facebook (didn't announce on there that I'd voted out), colleagues talking and family (who do know how I voted) complaining, I really wish I'd voted to remain.

I read a few bullet point articles and felt swayed by the amount of money were were paying to the EU. But I feel as though I'd partly not researched enough and also believed the hype.

Seeing the pound falling and friends worried for their jobs etc, I feel as though I've done something really bad. In fact, I'm sure I have.

Does anyone else regret the way they voted, whichever way that was?

No I don't regret voting to leave. Take back control and sort this country out. There is a shock reaction at the moment but it will be better in the long run down the line so if you're thinking of your families / children etc they will benefit..
I resent being called thick and ignorant on social media sites from the remainers. I am degree educated and director of a firm as well as having 3 young children. We are lucky enough to live in a democracy. Another referendum? Speaking of stupid, do these people know the definition of a referendum?? What to do then - keep having referendums until someone decides the decision is right? Ridiculous. In that case a referendum should not have been called. A point I do somewhat agree with as it is the government who have the most informed knowledge and opinions about our country and its runnings not every man on the street.
OP - don't regret your vote, which ever way it was! And don't make other people make you feel guilty. You followed your heart and the decision as a fact has been finalised. Now let's, as a nation, try and be positive for the long term and get the country into shape instead of bitching and sniping on faceless media.

Savemefromwine · 26/06/2016 20:17

I think Nicola is amazing but to lead the scots to have another ridiculous referendum and potentially staying in Europe and having to accept the euro( mandatory) would be actually hilarious and disastrous in equal measure.

Nicole is a one trick pony. Independence or nothing

No one I know regrets voting out or indeed in. so time will tell op.

You must know some flaky people?

Notsogrimupnorth · 26/06/2016 20:18

Okay so 2 things to say:

  1. For those of you who voted and regret it now, please sign the petition for a second referendum.
  2. For those of you who voted to leave and are angry with the hate that some of the remain camp are levelling at you, please spare a thought for the family of the beautiful Jo Cox whose life was taken through the hate within this campaign. Yes you may feel a little uncomfortable for a while - her children and husband have been robbed of a wonderful mother and wife.

I wasn't wrong Borojo our laws ultimately can be overturned by the European courts, a whole host of human rights lawyers have made a killing on that gravy train. And discussing the size of bananas was an eu directive, I've never heard such sour grapes by a loosing side, get over it and move on. The whole premise of the out campaign was to regain control of our laws. So it isn't the case that parliament has the final say as it does not. Our nhs is on its last legs and can't cope with the immigration free fall coming into the UK. As are our schools and other institutions. We should have a points system like Australia, no one is saying Australia is racist are they?

CrushedVelvet · 26/06/2016 20:22

Write to your MP NOW and explain your feelings. Maybe we can still escape the worst of this ridiculous mess.

Lua · 26/06/2016 20:22

Can anyone that is hopeful for a positive negotiation with the EU tell me who will be doing the negotiating?

I think one of the reason why a lot of people are going into hysterics is that no one knows what is happening and who is in charge.

Yes, theoretically nothing has changed yet, but clearly both parties are crumbling and we have ignorant people challenging anyone that does not look British enough in the streets. Unfortunately panic breeds panic, and without a clear leadership I am afraid this whole idea of lets jump off the cliff because it can't get any worst is making a lot of people really angry.

BonerSibary · 26/06/2016 20:22

Loullabella, how do you think voting to leave the EU would allow us to take back control of the country? I have heard a lot of Leavers say this, so it's obviously a live issue for many people, but nobody seems to know how.

jocarter67 · 26/06/2016 20:22

Whatthefox I don't think you cane solely blame this on the vote leave people, it's far too soon to be thinking about firing people so there must have been a problem to start with surely Cappuccino you need to stop talking about yourself like that, you were not the only person to vote leave so it is not all down on your shoulders unless you are one of the pathetic ones who have started sending hate mail to people, if you are then I strongly believe that you would not be worried that you voted out. After all it's very very hard to believe what the government say. Within the hour Nigel Farage changed his mind on what he said about money for the NHS so whichever way we voted at the end of the day we still won't get a say on the important things.

Wow - read through my previous posts. I am from a family of immigrants - educated to Phd level and support a family of 3 children single handed since the death of my husband. So do not patronise ME.

I have lived through enormous tragedy and overcome many many difficulties and I worked in the markets for 10 years before I lost my job as a result of the financial crisis - through no fault of my own.

Now I have cleared that up I will repeat that I tesearched extensively this topic for many months I spoke to academics, businessmen, and women, doctors and teachers as I am lucky enough to have access to these well educated and well respected people on a daily basis. I spoke to MPs on both sides of the debate and I read peer reviewed journal articles of European membership, trade agreements both for and against EU membership. I can send these to you if you wish to be properly informed. I also have an interest and knowledge of world markets and this was also part of my decision making. I stayed out of the campaigns and the media hype because quite frankly they appalling on both sides.

How dare you suppose I was 'misinformed' can you possibly say you did the same?

I was open minded and had no preference either way at the start of this but I was given a vote and asked to make a choice. This was a choice for the long term future of me and my children - it was not done lightly.

Direct your anger at those who are truly to blame - you are acting churlish at best and feel it appropriate to make judgements on other peoples motivations or decisions to vote purely because it doesn't agree with your choice.

Seriously grow up!

dudeerschil · 26/06/2016 20:24

How long can a newly wed couples stay along with minimum ten relatives or may be 27 relatives, does any one of you live in joint family, DEFINITELY NO !! you will be absolutely stressed out living with so many people at home with their choice, their likes and the newly wed marriage has only been stressed over years. Similar is the story of British with EU, Britain is stressed off with so many issues! Definitely couples need a break.

When we ourself can't live in a joint family with many indifferences, how can one expect all countries into this puddle !!

respect space, respect freedom, no need of being desperate . Lets hope for the good !! Only trading would be done in a different way, and bars will be set high which is in a way good unlike America,Canada,Switzerland,Norway. So most talented people would pop in. I am an Eu and i pay tax, I am alright with either Leave or Remain .
I support both

Strawberry10 · 26/06/2016 20:24

Sorry but people like you should not be allowed to vote. It is not a game.

havingablondemoment · 26/06/2016 20:24

Absolutely agree that bitching in hindsight is a waste of energy, but any of you that do regret your decision- learn from it, as a nation (myself included) we are far too easily swayed by the media. The press (and not just the tabloids) has far too much sway over us, we are manipulated daily by headlines and sound bites often orchestrated to serve its own agenda..

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 26/06/2016 20:25

My facebook feed is 90% remain. I've seen not one word of criticism of Leave voters. However the bigoted, racist, xenophobic filth from Leavers has been an eye opener. A certain proportion of society seem to believe the referendum has legitimised bullying and racism, whether it was intentional or not.

Widgie -
Lots of people are happy to call Australia racist. This story should tell you more about it:

Brenscott · 26/06/2016 20:28

I voted to leave and do not regret it, people who are saying they regret the way they voted should be ashamed surely they thought it all through before putting a tick in a box, it will be a rough ride for quite a while but it will come good in the end, stop being gutless and go with your desision

Bobcat15 · 26/06/2016 20:29

I work for the NHS, it's our ageing population that piles on the biggest amount of pressure on the organisation, not immigration. I've also an Australian uncle, he spends every waking hour on social media posting about their unacceptable racism issues.

Rishaar · 26/06/2016 20:29

No really moving goal posts BonerSibary, "changes" also include laws, and we've had plenty imposed on us by the EU. I work for a large legal aid practice which runs a fair amount of public law and judicial review cases. If they reach that level, our cases go through the ECHR, and usually have horrific costs consequences for the local authority or government agency we are opposing (and it's us taxpayers that foot the bill in the end). Do I always agree with the outcomes? No.
That said, it's not a perfect situation either way, sometimes the system works, sometimes it doesn't. As one country out of 28 there is only so much weight our voice can carry.
My conscience is clear. I am sure that different people have different reasons for voting, same as some people vote Labour, some Conservative... But a vote is a personal choice, and people should accept that the majority voted leave, rather than vilifying them. Quite honestly, the comments from remain voters have been disgusting over the last few days.

Swessex · 26/06/2016 20:31

I voted out. And wouldn't change my mind.

Cordelia1234 · 26/06/2016 20:32

I'm sure there are many millions of people who don't regret their leave vote..it's called democracy...everyone (eligible) has a right to their vote..I can't believe people are saying they've made a mistake, everyone has had months to make up their minds...don't take any notice of the bullies. The pound rallied the same day.....

Mynamesnitrainman · 26/06/2016 20:32

So what were you voting for? There was no plan and the advocates were BoJo, Voldemort and Gove. What in that unholy mess did you think you were doing? No really I'm not being smart or unkind, I truly want to know what you were doing? And if it was to 'take Britain back' what from I ask you? What to? History must surely teach us that every regime that ever wants to hark back to some golden nugget of times past is deluded and wrong. It wasn't perfect but being given safe standards , equality and place at the debating table sounds alright to me. It's not immigrants or beaurocracy that make the dole question long or the health service creak it is our own grown party politics of goats left and right taking form the poor and giving to the rich after the banks robbed us blind. It is NOT the EUs fault. It is our own apathy to politics. You were so wrong. But now get off your regretful back side and do some lobbying, get active, get people to demand a policy to be read and understood before we vote for a new government and DO NOT invoke article 50. Stop being regretful and do something intelligent .

Strawberry10 · 26/06/2016 20:32

Well said loollabella. We need to get on with it now. It will take time to settle down. I voted leave and am proud of it. The people of Britain ( and not London) have had their say for once.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 26/06/2016 20:34

I would also know the answer to mort's question. Who did the Leavers think would be implementing this transition?

Brexit · 26/06/2016 20:34

And what were you voting for with Remain?
