I regret the way I voted.

After a long day reading Facebook (didn't announce on there that I'd voted out), colleagues talking and family (who do know how I voted) complaining, I really wish I'd voted to remain.

I read a few bullet point articles and felt swayed by the amount of money were were paying to the EU. But I feel as though I'd partly not researched enough and also believed the hype.

Seeing the pound falling and friends worried for their jobs etc, I feel as though I've done something really bad. In fact, I'm sure I have.

Does anyone else regret the way they voted, whichever way that was?

...or without really looking at the issues at stake.

ohgoshIdontknow · 25/06/2016 00:13

Lula I suspect you're a Bremainer.

Or do you work for the DM?!

lulucappuccino · 25/06/2016 00:15

Me? I don't work for the Fail and I am a remainer now. Wish I had been yesterday morning too.

Don't waste time on regrets OP. I voted Remain but most of my family voted to Leave. Like many others you did some research and made a decision. That's your right and nobody should be making you feel bad about it.
The weeks, mo this and years ahead are going g to be different than if we had remained but they will become our new normal. There will inevitably be some fall out over this decision but things will adjust.

TooMuchMNTime · 25/06/2016 00:16

Wtf?
Seriously are these posts all started by the same person?

SealSong · 25/06/2016 00:17

Have read lots of reports today of people who voted leave and were surprised to win, and regret it now. It's making me really fucking angry actually.
People can vote any way they want as long as they are WELL INFORMED.

And as for those voting leave as some kind of protest and they are now dismayed at having won.....words fail me Angry

Oh op, if only we could find over a million people like you who now suddenly regret their vote maybe we could overturn democracy?

Get those sock puppets to work Bremainers!

lulucappuccino · 25/06/2016 00:19

This is the first thread I've started on this issue!

And don't beat yourself up Lulu. Many people on both sides will be questioning their vote too, now or in the future. Mainstream politicians and media have played a blinder with misinformation.

heyday · 25/06/2016 00:19

We don't really know how this is all going to work out in the long term especially as the world is very changeable. Let's not see it as clear cut black and white. Yes, there will be changes for sure but it may just all work out OK eventually.

stiffstink · 25/06/2016 00:19

At least you didn't vote leave because you thought Brussels was in Germany and that's not what WW2 was about (?)

Fucking hell I am so depressed by this.

lulucappuccino · 25/06/2016 00:20

Sorry, that was for TooMuch.

waitingforsomething · 25/06/2016 00:20

I wish I could feel sorry for you op but I don't. I don't know why you thought it would be better for our economy when almost every notable economist said we wouldn't.
I'm sorry you had the wool pulled over your eyes. You won't be the only regretful person today

DancingDinosaur · 25/06/2016 00:21

Well its done now, and we all have to deal with the consequences, like it or not. I don't regret my vote, just sad that it didn't make any difference.

WorraLiberty · 25/06/2016 00:21

No you're not a 'remainer now'. You're a leaver because that's how you voted.

I'm sure you won't be the only one who regrets your decision, but honestly this self pitying thread, is only going to rub people up the wrong way.

It's done now, so deal with it and move on.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/06/2016 00:23

Just signed the petition. It has up to now got 417,228 signatures, so well over 100,000 to be debated in Parliament.
One thing I will say though. If leaving was a wrong move for UK, then. It does beg the question. Why did Dastardly Dave, allow us the vote. Why didn't he just leave things as they were.

buckingfrolicks · 25/06/2016 00:23

well OP do you not take your vote seriously? It isn't the x factor, it's a real, you know, VOTE. Did you not think beforehand, not afterwards? Tough bloody luck that you regret it now - it's too late, the door has closed, and I for one will hold you and the other 'leave' voters responsible for the total mess that we are about to enter. God - think before you act. Yes a lot of you will live to regret your vote, and I for one won't give a goddam crap about it - you did this, you can enjoy the results.

Stripyhoglets · 25/06/2016 00:24

I don't think many remainers will be questioning their vote tbh. Why would we. If we really wanted the other option - we got it anyway!

PlymouthMaid1 · 25/06/2016 00:24

The OP is the first leave voter I have heard regretting their choice.

TooMuchMNTime · 25/06/2016 00:25

Are these "I regret my vote" idiots in charge of some secret society that's going to stage a coup for a dictatorship?

To regret the vote the day after, when the only thing that's happened is the expected...? I'm speechless.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/06/2016 00:26

We should never have had this referendum. Our children have been robbed of so many opportunities, people are going to lose their jobs and maybe their homes because idiots voted Leave without researching or thinking about what they were going to do.

AdoraBell · 25/06/2016 00:28

Thanks for the link Primary I've signed the petition. I voted Remain.

DancingDinosaur · 25/06/2016 00:30

Yep, this.

LaBelleOtero · 25/06/2016 00:31

It's too late for regrets OP. I've been arguing at Leavers here all day on and off, but I don't think you should feel any personal guilt. I'm sure you made what you thought was the best choice at the time.

I think a lot of us are in shock and worrying about the worst case scenarios, but it's still less than 24 hours. Perhaps now we'll get a PM who doesn't hate the disabled, there's a potential bright side!

iisme · 25/06/2016 00:31

live, Dave didn't leave things as they were because he wanted to head of the UKIP challenge and deal with some festering issues in the Tory party that have been there for decades, and he didn't think people would actually vote to leave. He's taken us out of the EU in an unnecessary referendum for self-serving, short-term interests and he will be judged by history accordingly. He's turned a spilt into the Tory party into a spilt across Europe. He has royally fucked up.
