I know there will be difficult times ahead.

Staying there was also going to be difficult times afraid.

But I think it's the way forward ! I'm pleased change is on the cards.

OP posts:
borntohula · 24/06/2016 23:28

also, Britain will never be like it was in pre-EU 'good old days'... the world has moved on, letting nostalgia get the better of you is daft

BurningBridges · 24/06/2016 23:29

I actually saw someone post on Facebook earlier that we really need to calm down and let Government deal with it and it will all be ok.

Surferjet · 24/06/2016 23:30

Governments come & go every 4 years borntohula, if we're not happy we kick them out, we had to wait 40 years to get out of the EU!

TooMuchMNTime · 24/06/2016 23:33

Burning, what's wrong with calming down?
Media are not helping, you'd think the pound was worth three pence the way the BBC have it.

borntohula · 24/06/2016 23:34

burningbridges part of me thinks this should have been left to the government, tbh - after all, they are the experts... unfortunately, in the case of many pro-brexit - and pro-remain - voters, the extent of their research was what their friends were sharing on fb

borntohula · 24/06/2016 23:38

surferjet i sincerely hope we do kick them out but the EU came about partly to remedy nationalism and i think we should have been proud of that... i feel that we've regressed

FlaviaAnsell · 24/06/2016 23:40

Over 50 plus voting out who neatly ( older end) voted in during 1970s.

A lot of people were dubious back then, but allowed themselves to be persuaded that joining the Common Market (as we were told it was) would be for the best. This time round it's more a case of 'fool me once...'

lacurandera · 24/06/2016 23:41

Voted leave in a part of the country that voted completely remain. Delighted by the result, EU is a failed experiment that has run its course, it had a couple of decades before imploding in on itself, even without us leaving. Great respect for the voters who , with the entire media, establishment and many famous and important people and institutions against them, refused to bow to the fear and kept their resolve. Grin

TriniRedVelvet · 24/06/2016 23:42

Some people are showing their true intolerant colours today. Party poopers exit left. Pun intended. Now, Where's my drink? ....... .. 🎂🍸... brought some cake as well. Grin (just trying out my Farage grin)

Kummerspeck · 24/06/2016 23:43

I think, just as in the last election, a portion of rather too vocal people have dominated social media so those planning to vote Brexit have kept quiet, hence the surprise this morning, just as there was surprise after the last election. Like others I have been insulted as racist, xenophobic, stupid, etc for trying to learn by questioning the Remain scaremongering. Maybe less bullying and more listening would prevent these shock results in future

hownottofuckup · 24/06/2016 23:47

There's a lot of cockereling going on, on both sides.

Asking Leave voters to explain why they think it is the best option and what the benefits are seems to provoke quite a hostile reaction (apart from OP who was kind enough to give me some insight earlier)
Whilst calling all Leave voters xenophobic/uneducated etc is just perpetuating the fear campaign and probably, and understandably, leading to the hostile reactions when people do ask genuine questions.

Tit for tat is pointless, we teach 5 yr olds not to indulge in that.
We are all in this together, whether it was your preferred outcome or not. Fear, hostility and infighting isn't the way to move forward. I think fear is the most dangerous of human emotions.

So, I choose not to be fearful but to choose optimism instead. Let them celebrate, and let's accept the outcome of this referendum with dignity and grace and move forward as a nation.

Otherwise we really are fucked!

Surferjet · 24/06/2016 23:49

I don't care about the insults anymore, we won & that's it.
Wine Wine 🎉🍾🎉🍾🎉🍾🎉🍾🎉🍾

Peppatina · 24/06/2016 23:50

Oh WE are the stupid unthinking ones?

At least I'm able to read thread titles, I believe you'll find plenty of other thread where you can spew your bile, interrogate posters on why they voted the way they did and generally have your little tantrums.

This thread is for happy Brexiters.

Of which I certainly am one. Grin

borntohula · 24/06/2016 23:53

how is the EU a 'failed experiment' when its member states have genuinely benefited from it ? i'm prepared to accept that it's flawed but i don't think it's as terrible as Leave voters like to believe Hmm

borntohula · 24/06/2016 23:55

also, as far as fb goes at least, brexiters have not been very forthcoming about how leaving will have a positive effect on their lives ? some of them remind me of rebellious teenagers

lacurandera · 25/06/2016 00:04

Hula, go join one of the sour grapes remain threads, we are trying to have a party here... Wine

TriniRedVelvet · 25/06/2016 00:09

FFS..... there's loads of threads you can use to heap abuse on those who dare to have a different opinion. Go spit your venom and abuse me there as much as you bloody like.

ohgoshIdontknow · 25/06/2016 00:10

So happy. So relieved. So brilliant.

borntohula · 25/06/2016 00:17

hahaha would love to see where i've been 'spitting venom' and 'heaping abuse'... bit of an exaggeration... well, enjoy your party, well done for being so callous with regards to all those whose jobs are at risk Smile

TooMuchMNTime · 25/06/2016 00:19

Born, my job is going, I nearly abstained
But in the end I voted for what I thought was best in general,,not my wallet
No I'm nor rich, I'm on less than national average
But some decisions have to be made for the long haul
Anyway, I've explained myself so many times...

lacurandera · 25/06/2016 00:20

The companies those people work for at fault, not leave voters. Failure to plan and adapt accordingly. Next...

TooMuchMNTime · 25/06/2016 00:22

PS don't forget about places losing business like Southampton
And don't forget how much we spend now on propping up failing countries, a bill that was only going to get higher
I'm done. No more Brexit talk for me. No one is listening.

SpringingIntoAction · 25/06/2016 00:30

Seems that Remainers cannot recognise that we have saved you from placing your necks (and ours) into the nooses of the big banks and corporations who would enslave you forever.

The whole Remain argument required such a major contortion of the truth that is was simply risible and intellectually flawed

Hate Cameron? - vote for Cameron's recommendation to stay in

Don't trust Cameron with workers rights? - then vote on Cameron's recommendation to stay in the EU where trade union collective bargaining has been suspended as part of some countries EU bailouts

Scared of TTIP? - vote to Remain to ensure you get TTIP

Dislike globalisation and bankers? - they are funding the campaign to persuade you to Remain

Worried about human rights? - vote for the EU that has such contempt for human rights that it people trafficks for money with Turkey

Worried about climate change? - then vote for an organisation which demands free movement that leaves migrants host countries depopulated while requiring their new resident countries to build a new home every 8 minutes to accommodate demand - not very environmentally friendly

In the absence of any compelling and comprehendible reason to remain all the Remain side had was project Fear and Project Smear.

UK is not democratic because it has a House of Lords? - vote for even less democracy

Common sense and democracy prevailed. Wailing and renting of clothes should cease now.

SpringingIntoAction · 25/06/2016 00:33

Interested to know what all these jobs are that "are going".

Are they really and why?

All I am hearing is anecdotal. Were these worthwhile jobs in the first place?

TooMuchMNTime · 25/06/2016 00:37

Springing, applause, except yes, loads of jobs are going, but there's a lot of that in capitalism anyway. Some of my colleagues got marching orders today.

No my job isn't worthwhile but most aren't if you measure it like that. But I figured getting another job was going to be a damn sight easier than getting out of the EU if I didn't vote for it this time.
