Before free movement of people I never needed a visa to go to europe.

My grandad did to much of what is now the EU. We have two years to sort a new deal or for the short term at least we will, because the former deal will no longer stand and that is the default position.

flippinada · 21/06/2016 16:32

I don't actually know how my family are voting. My parents and step-parents fall into the older voters category.

I can hazard a guess but I think, at the moment, I'd prefer not to know.

flippinada · 21/06/2016 16:32

Thank you Mrs

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 16:33

Interesting Mrs B, I ansa some of those Ugov surveys,I wonder if this is what they base their surveys on Grin

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 16:35

your granddad?

well I went to Spain pre movement of people and didn't have to apply for visas. Nor France, nor Italy.

SapphireStrange · 21/06/2016 16:35

We have two years to sort a new deal or for the short term at least we will, because the former deal will no longer stand and that is the default position.

And as with everything that will change in the event of a Leave, the remainder of the EU won't give us an easy ride over it.

squoosh · 21/06/2016 16:35

And you assume the situation will be the same decades later?

flippinada · 21/06/2016 16:38

Here seems to be a good source as well for anyone who's interested:

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 16:38

I don't assume anything but I would struggle to understand why continental Europe who relies heavily on tourism would be happy with their governments spitefully making it more difficult for us to travel there?

bilbul · 21/06/2016 16:42

I am a strong Leave voter, but I think Remain will win by 65% to 35%.

A few reasons why:

  • The Remain campaign have done a very good job of painting Brexit supporters as pig ignorant racists. To the point where I feel I can't actually have a discussion with any of my friends about it.
  • As already mentioned, those on the fence will stick with the status quo.
SapphireStrange · 21/06/2016 16:47

That's quite a margin, bilbul.

As a remainer I hope fervently that you're right, but fear that you're wrong.

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 16:53

bilbul, but people vote in secret Grinthey know what they are and what they are not...

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 16:53

are those that are not sure, so likely to vote though?

KondosSecretJunkRoom · 21/06/2016 16:57

I hope so Slave.

I suppose it would be illegal to set up free beer tasting stalls outside of polling booths, just to encourage them along a bit?

Littlemisslovesspiders · 21/06/2016 17:03

Latest poll is out.

Apparently this is one if the few that actually did do quite well in the GE predictions.

Still way to close to call.

Leave just in lead.

Mrsblackthorn
"I've lived and worked in places where the fairness of elections really is in doubt and frankly it's an insult to everyone who works to promote democracy suggest this is the case in the UK; there are so many safeguards to stop this happening that is genuinely is impossible. Several people just on this website have talked about their own role at counts. It really is ludicrous to suggest literally tens of thousands of people and observers are bent."
Yes but there have been documented cases of postal vote fraud, haven't there?

flippinada · 21/06/2016 17:11

Poll of polls here from NatCen showing a small leave for Remain:

flippinada · 21/06/2016 17:11

I meant lead. That was a freudian typo, wasn't it!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/06/2016 17:23

that one doesn't include undecideds flippinada, I wonder if that would change it.

MrsBlackthorn · 21/06/2016 17:31

East Germany, Poland, Hungary...

MrsBlackthorn · 21/06/2016 17:34

Yes. And they are, it seems, very small scale, amateurish (so get caught) and peripheral to the national result. It is neither likely not even possible for electoral fraud to happen on the scale needed to change a result on even a constituency level, let alone a national one:

Dapplegrey2 · 21/06/2016 18:01

Mrsblackthorn - thank you for answering my question, that is reassuring.

TendonQueen · 21/06/2016 18:07

Some of the conspiracy theory stuff is really ridiculous. Don't vote using a pencil or it'll be rubbed out? So will there be a secret army of fixers armed with erasers and pencils coming in between 10pm and 5am to get to work? Hmm

Back to reality - I think Remain will just edge it, 54 to 46. But I am worried that I'm wrong. Confused

NewLife4Me · 21/06/2016 18:15

Tendon
What do you mean conspiracy theories?
One person's belief is anothers conspiracy.
Going against what you are told to believe by authority figures doesn't make you a conspirasist for not believing this.
you could equally be a conspiracist for believing what you are told, if it isn't true.
