How will you be voting? Can admin add a poll?

OP posts:

That's a great post, Baklava, I wish I were as eloquent as you.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:24

It's actually none of the "big" issues that make me want to leave it is just that all these countries are so different- different cultures and religions and needs - that I just don't think it can make decisions as a whole for the best of each country.
To put in place basic human rights, fair wages and working standards is just a given and if it isn't in certain countries then I agree, that must change but I don't see why having to join some big union needs to make that happen?
If we leave we aren't going to back track on all the work we did to get these rights.

I also believe the USA is too big to have just one president.

My sister-In-law to be is Austrian, living in UK for last 10 years, she is an out and out Leave.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:30

MangoMoon

Totally agree with you re. remain camp with their squinty faces, "cloud cuckoo land" and "tin foil hat" comments.
I end up ignoring their comments because I find them so petty.

butteredmuffin · 10/05/2016 10:32

Yeah but some posts on here by the leave side are proper conspiracy theory stuff. Like that post by Baklava. Eloquent, yes, but utterly bonkers.

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 10/05/2016 10:32

Both sides are guilty of deploying faces to insult and goad. I agree with the poster who said the laughing face is also offensive.

There's also been 'ironic' flowers and a cartoon apparently depicting a couple of posters/comments the poster didn't agree with.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:37

So?
People are entitled to believe what they want. Luckily, people don't actually even need to have a reason if they want to vote to leave.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:38

Also, buttered you had a dig at springing for always being on here "nothing better to do", but you seem to be too?!
It's just a bit mean and uncalled for.

butteredmuffin · 10/05/2016 10:39

True, but I don't think we should be treating this referendum like the X-Factor or Strictly Come Dancing. The outcome will have serious consequences for us all.

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 10/05/2016 10:39

Luckily, people don't actually even need to have a reason if they want to vote to leave.

Luckily? Personally I'm troubled by the idea that some people – on either side –will be voting from an uninformed position.

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 10/05/2016 10:40

Sorry, bold fail.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:42

But realistically...people will vote like that! Uninformed. They can't be arsed to look any info up. They don't understand politics. They hate their German neighbour. A French man bumped into them one day. Bollocks like that can make people vote one way or the other.

butteredmuffin · 10/05/2016 10:45

I'm here on and off (and you're right, I shouldn't be here now, even though I am having a quiet morning). But Spring is here all the time. That's not a problem in itself, but she really seems to be monopolising the debate and acting like a Brexit propaganda machine.

She says something ridiculous, you respond with verifiable facts, then she posts something which reads like, "La la la, I'm not listening, I'm voting LEAVE! GrinGrinGrin By the way you're voting for CAMERON, hahahahaha!"

Either that or some unintelligible copy and paste job.

Frankly it's exhausting, and it gets in the way of having any kind of sensible discussion. There are other "leave" voters here who I would be happy to debate with, and I feel we could have a constructive conversation even if we don't have the same point of view.

But whenever Spring is here the conversations just descend into playground levels of silliness. She posts things deliberately intended to goad and mock other posters, and the moment anyone gets pissed off and retaliates it's all "Bullies!" "Personal attacks!" and hitting the report button. I can't stand it.

butteredmuffin · 10/05/2016 10:47

Anyway. I do need to do some work now, so...see you later. Smile

MrSnow · 10/05/2016 10:47

Whiskey,

"They hate their German neighbour. A French man bumped into them one day. Bollocks like that can make people vote one way or the other"

Do you really think that little of your fellow countrymen&women?

MrSnow · 10/05/2016 10:48

"Yeah but some posts on here by the leave side are proper conspiracy theory stuff"

Could you give an example please? Thanks.

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:51

Obviously not everyone will belike that! But I dare say a fair few foreign haterz will do. Sadly.

I also think a lot of people just don't know what way to vote and just won't turn up. I expect more people inclined to Leave will show up and this might just tip the scales.

Chalalala · 10/05/2016 10:56

A French man bumped into them one day.

Oh dear you're confirming my worst fears - the other day I mortally offended a really grumpy old man by bumping into him (I was carrying a very wiggly toddler) and not being sorry enough.

I sound very obviously French, so my first thought afterwards was "oh no, I hope I didn't push him to vote Brexit". Clearly I've been spending too much time thinking about this lol Blush

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:58

Probably. One vote towards Leave ;)

Whisky2014 · 10/05/2016 10:59

Are MNHQ able to create a poll we can vote on?

MrSnow · 10/05/2016 11:00

The Air of Superiority the Remains use when dealing with Brexiteers does rather irritate me. A pound to a pfenig they are all in the comfortable middle class bracket, nice house, landrover in the forecourt and room for a pony.

All they can see if the money, nothing else, just the money.

The don't care about the erosion of democracy and all that entails, they don't care if they are ruled over by some class of political elite.

It's just about the money.

LeaveTheRoundAbout · 10/05/2016 11:01

I don't understand anyone being happy with the level of secrecy surrounding EU secrecy of Ttip and believe that this is a democracy.

I've seen this Irish MEP interviewed and he really holds his own - he isn't someone easily cowed at all and it is worth listening to the end of the attached video to see the ridiculous levels and form signing he has to go to and make a solemn oath after leaving reading room....

LeaveTheRoundAbout · 10/05/2016 11:05

If it was our country negotiating trade agreements then we would be able to protest against our own government to not allow - however as EU have final say most in UK don't seem to be aware of the level of secrecy imposed on us by EU.

How can anyone believe this is acceptable.

Its job for the boys - don't be mistaken. Guess who my eldest DC get bumping into over in Brussels' parliament a few weeks ago - Clegg. Well yes you'd expect politicians to be there, but is anyone really not realising this is pasture ground for our failed politicians?
