What's a good name for a tutoring business?

I am giving this some thought as a potential business venture - 11+ and CE tutition mainly.

Help me to come up with a great name. So many out there are terribly
uninspiring...like Aspire Tutors or Champion Tutors.

DS(6) has come up with Dalmation Tutors and that's the best we've got so far - '101 ways to success' [finger in mouth pretending to be sick emoticon].

TutorYou, TutorU, tYOUtor...'bespoke tutoring for YOU'

Anymore ideas folks? I've got my first two students lined up and I would like to have a name to put on some business cards/website etc.

Is anyone feeling more creative that I am? The best so far is Advantage Tutoring. I am not keen on using my name but I would like something that suggests that I will be offering a quality service.

I think advantage is fine.
Although I went for tutors who used their name rather than a brand name if you see what I mean.
There were far too many brand names that were absolutely not good which really put me off in my search.

In the end we found our tutor through the 11+ Forum. I was happier to look at the one we've got because she was recommended.

If you are doing 11+ tutoring you will need to know not just what to teach but how the process works, deadlines, appeal processes as well as parents will ask all of that.

I would go for Jane Bloggs Tutoring, but I think Advantage Tutoring is the best option so far.

Thanks oiteach and Prof. I am still at the gathering resources/planning stages so all advice is very welcome .

I think Advantage Tutoring is the best. Premium Tutoring might also be an alternative, but Advantage starts with an 'A' and therefore appears earlier in an alphabetical list.

Just checked an advantagetutoring.co.uk is already taken, but .irg.uk etc. are still available
premiumtutoring.co.uk is still available

claig · 23/06/2010 12:57

org.uk

claig · 23/06/2010 13:01

I think I prefer Advantage Tuition to Advantage Tutoring

thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 13:03

I wondered what .irg was

advantagetuition.com is still available.
One place where you can check for what is available is
www.123-reg.co.uk/
type the doimain name in domain search field

thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 13:13

Is it not a little bit uninspired...Advantage Tuition?

There is a 'wizard tutors' that appears to do very well.

OP posts:
claig · 23/06/2010 13:23

yes because wizard is a name that appeals to children with the whole Harry Potter thing etc. Advantage is a bit more professional like a corporation and maybe not friendly enough

thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 13:32

Any ideas that are child-friendly then claig? Thanks a lot for your help on this btw.

I love 'rip off tutoring' from deaddei further down the thread but I don't think it would work somehow.

Riptide?? {grin]

OP posts:

thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 14:11

What about using the name of some erudite figure?

OP posts:
thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 14:13

Or just a smart sounding surname (mine isn't)?

OP posts:
thedollyridesout · 23/06/2010 14:18
