What's a good name for a tutoring business?

I am giving this some thought as a potential business venture - 11+ and CE tutition mainly.

Help me to come up with a great name. So many out there are terribly
uninspiring...like Aspire Tutors or Champion Tutors.

DS(6) has come up with Dalmation Tutors and that's the best we've got so far - '101 ways to success' [finger in mouth pretending to be sick emoticon].

I don't see why you can't use your own name on a website.
Jane Bloggs Tutoring. Does what it says really doesn't it? Looks honest and to the point.
You don't want to be plural "Anyname tutors" if it's only you.

claig · 20/06/2010 23:51

agree that "Tutors" plural is not a good idea but Tutoring may be an alternative if you want to keep the tutor element.

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 23:56

I get what you are both saying about not using the plural, and 'tutoring' is an alternative. Could also use 'tuition' I guess. What about using something like ...educational support/services or even exam preparation?? Too much?

Bright Sparks? Or is that something already?

geminigirl · 21/06/2010 00:02

Alpha Tutoring, like Advantage, it will always be near the listings if you put yourself in the Yellow Pages.

geminigirl · 21/06/2010 00:03

Sorry....I meant near the start of the listings....do you teach people how to proof read?????

piprabbit · 21/06/2010 00:07

Tailored Tuition Services.

Targetted Tuition.

Tailored Learning.

Bespoke Tuition.

Plus Tuition.

claig · 21/06/2010 00:07

exam preparation too much.
Thinkplus Tuition

Bright Sparks already exists

goldenticket · 21/06/2010 00:08

Agree with Ladymuck etc - just use your name.

Jane Bloggs Tuition
Educational Support Services

is great.

piprabbit · 21/06/2010 00:09

Wanted to add - that slightly boring might actually be preferable for this kind of venture. If I was buying tuition for my 11yo, I'm not sure I'd be looking for 'wacky' names - I'd want dependable, effective and trustworthy.

goldenticket · 21/06/2010 00:09

Or

You CAN Turn a Sow's Ear into a Silk Purse Tuition

which is the state of play round here

claig · 21/06/2010 00:12

I think if you are going to make a website then Jane Bloggs Tuition is not ideal, it would be better to have a company sounding name

thedollyridesout · 21/06/2010 00:12

Bright sparks is a teaching resources website IIRC.

Good point about A's being at the start of the listings in yellow pages. I suppose if you wanted to get right to the front you could use something like Aardvark Tuition.

'Hello, I have an Aardvark and I would like you to tutor him'
