What's a good name for a tutoring business?

I am giving this some thought as a potential business venture - 11+ and CE tutition mainly.

Help me to come up with a great name. So many out there are terribly
uninspiring...like Aspire Tutors or Champion Tutors.

DS(6) has come up with Dalmation Tutors and that's the best we've got so far - '101 ways to success' [finger in mouth pretending to be sick emoticon].

I like 101 it is great.
101 Tutors - The 101 of 11+ and CE
also gets you first in an alphabetical list of tutors

claig · 20/06/2010 19:24

101%, 101 ways, 101 reasons, the full 101

claig · 20/06/2010 19:26

you might be able to wangle "room 101" in there somehow as well

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 19:31

thanks for playing claig

I believe 101 means entry level in USA though, e.g. Maths 101 is the first level of course? maybe a US citizen can confirm or deny?

claig · 20/06/2010 19:36

I thought that 101 (one o one) meant the full 101 i.e. everything that there is to know about the subject. But am not sure

Advantage Tutors

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 19:52

claig, DH suggested Advantage Tutors and I rubbished it for being too boring .

claig · 20/06/2010 19:55

great minds think alike
it is not perfect but it conveys the subliminal message that you have to get tutoring to gain the advantage.

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 20:13

So, what I want is the 'perfect' name. Keep thinking, you're doing better than I am.

I like the slogan 'Think Smart' but can't work it into a name - any ideas?

TheFallenMadonna · 20/06/2010 20:16

How about Unfair Advantage Tutors?

pippop1 · 20/06/2010 20:20

Useful tutors?

It sounds better than it looks.

Transition tutors?

(sounds as if changes will happen).

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 20:22

I know what you mean TheFallenMadonna but I am planning to offer some free places to assuage my conscience.

I suspect that it doesn't help at all, but any sort of name would immediately put me off. The most successful tutors in my area are just known by their name and where they live. I'd avoid the non-transparent ones immediately as when I'm looking for a tutor I'm looking for an individual rather than a corporate brand such as Kumon say. So if this is tutoring done by yourself, don't bother with a name. If on the other hand you're trying to set up a franchise then something memorable would help.

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 20:28

I'm not planning on setting up a franchise Ladymuck but I would like to have a website with useful information/links etc so I feel that I do need some sort of name.

deaddei · 20/06/2010 20:29

TakeYourCashTutors?
Ripoff Reasoning?
Nothing personal, but it's such a money maker round here.
Good luck!!!!

I'd make it as close to your name as possible. If it is your personal services that you are selling then you want to make it clear that that is what people are getting. If you use an anonymous name, certainly I would assume that there was no guarantee as to who I would get.

Bonsoir · 20/06/2010 20:33

Barbie Brain?

thedollyridesout · 20/06/2010 20:41

You can do better than that Bonsoir.
