One mum at ds's nursery keeps telling me how her dd was moved up into the over 3's room early because she was very 'ready for it' (read advanced)...but really I know it's 'cos they wanted her place in the under 3's room . I just humour her and nod.

Must be blardy annoying being a teacher if all the parents think their offspring are little Einsteins. What happens when they get their school reports and learn that little Agie is 20th in the class and not top? Or maybe it's all so PC these days they don't do class rankings?

Only while he is hot-wiring a car.

P.s. in answer to the OP, I have said to the nursery teacher that Ds is good at academic stuff but not so good at other things e.g. he can't draw or even really use a pencil for toffee (although he might try for a chocolate button...!) Think I was balanced there rather than enthusing about the things he is good at which must make teachers switch off instantly and stop taking you seriously.

We have this thing called "Curriculum Evening" which is a prents evening where they go over with you what they are going to teach that year and also how they are going to teach it (so, for example, DS is in Y2 and the talk was all about exactly how they will be teaching them handwriting, and DD is in Reception and the talk was about how they will teaching them to read etc etc).

It starts with a general intro for all of the classes, (Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y2) and general questions and someone put their hand up and launched into a self congratulatory question about how much homework was appropriate because their child needed a lot of stimulation and stretching and was there an official extension policy and it turned out this child was in Nursery.

And you can guarantee that about half of the parents were nodding vigorously and you could see them thinking "oh yes, me too! me too!" and the other half were thinking "You absolute farking loon".
