The steiner waldorf thread ran to a halt because apparently a 1000 messages are a maximum. Let's continue here!!

"My-ky-ell"

Of course, from a germanic perspective this is wrong too. Right number of syllables, but pronounciation somewhat amerikanized.

This is how it's supposed to be:

Mi-ka-el

like the beginning of Michigan and the 'ka' I don't know where to find in the english language. I don't know phonetic signs, unfortunately. 'k' as in cat, that's easy. Oh, now I know, 'a' as in Diana !! The last 'a'!

Margaret/Powerofjoy2004 has put up a number of links to strange sites. The first one is largely a "Christian"? Australian plagiarism of the WC site.

Just as a reminder of the subject of this discussion: Waldorf education, against which a gang of bullies from a small fringe group in CA/LA, WC, is pursuing an anti-Waldorf witch hunt in repeated threads here at MN, seemingly a sort of English late night pub discussion for women, as they don't seem very much welcome in other forums on the net, from which they have been booted and many of their postings deleted (TES parenting forum, BBC Parenting forum, The Green Parent).

The article on Waldorf education, mentioned above, is restricted to using reliable sources since an arbitration 2006/2007. The WCs don't like that, as they can't put their pub comments into the article.

DianaW · 14/04/2008 03:18

'The first one is largely a "Christian"? Australian plagiarism of the WC site.'

Are you suggesting it is not a credible site because it is Christian, or are you suggesting it is not really Christian? Or why is "Christian" in quotes?

And if it is Christian, how can it be a plagiarism of the WC site? One of your favorite angles against "WC" all these years is that we are supposed to be a bunch of godless heathens, all atheists pushing a "secular humanist" agenda. The Australian guy must not have done a very good job "plagiarizing" WC then?

northernrefugee39 · 14/04/2008 11:24

I always wondered why Michael was pronounced like that.
This could be an explanation. (My bold)

Steiner:
""Now it will certainly seem strange and fantastic when mankind nowadays is told that in Central Europe the close association of the "I" with the Christ principle had put a stamp on the entire development of the area, to the effect that even the linguistic spirit of a people took up this association and equated "I" (Ich) and "CH" (Christ): I-CH conjoined became "Ich." In pronouncing "Ich "in Central Europe one utters the name of Jesus Christ. That is how close the "I" wants to be to the Christ, longing for the most intimate closeness with Him. This living together, as one, with the spiritual world, which we in Central Europe must strive to attain in all intellectual fields, is not known in the West or in the East.
Therefore, something in the twentieth century is necessary so that the Christ principle can gradually spread over the entire European continent. I have frequently emphasized in several lecture series that in November 1879 the spiritual being we call the Archangel Michael had reached a special stage of development. Michael had become, so to speak, the leading spirit who is now preparing the event that has to take place in the twentieth century. This is alluded to in my first mystery play as the appearance of the etheric
Christ on earth. It will come to pass that at first a few, and gradually more and more souls will know that the Christ is really here, is again on this earth, but as an ether body and not as a physical body."
"Christ In Relation to Lucifer and Ahriman ", lecture, May 18, 1915."

Oh- but the 20th century has ben and gone?
How strange.. so, what was this "event" then? Any one know?

northernrefugee39 · 14/04/2008 11:38

Bee you addressed this to someone called farawaysomewhere- which isn't the same person as me Northernrefugee- do you think it is? It isn't, you are foolish, and I have no idea what you are talking about

"But then, he is one of your idols and role models, of have I misunderstood you?"

No, Christopher hitchens is not a "hero" "idol" or "role model" of mine.
I find his work academically interesting. It poses many questions and points.

Some people have ideas of their own, they don't follow "heros" "idols" or have "role models" or gurus. They are free thinkers, who think around ideas, and discuss them with like minded people.
Some people are free to make their own minds up, and free also to change their minds, to listen to others, and re think. Or to have new ideas.
It's called free speech bee.
People partake in this on forums and chatboards.
They are not afraid of free speech.
they welcome it.
Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins are two people who think like this.
I don't "follow", like some people do in their rigid, retrogressive pseudo religions.

Thebee · 14/04/2008 12:48

DianaW, doubting she at any time has stated:

"And Christmas, as some of us also recently have found out (those few of us who are "Steiner waldorf critics"), also is an anthroposophical festival, founded by Steiner and celebrated to in secret spread anthroposophy thoughout the world..."

It sounds like you, doesn't it?

Are you really sure you did not write that at some time ... ;-))

northernrefugee39 · 14/04/2008 12:54

bee, as you're there, tell me about you fantasy about farawaysomewhere.
Does that sound like northernrefugee?
You are delusional.

Thebee · 14/04/2008 13:18

Does northernrefugee39 sound like someone farawaysomewhere? Hm. What would you say?

northernrefugee39 · 14/04/2008 13:50

No.
But I'm not Sewdish. Maybe it does to you.
And I have never used the nickname farawaysomewhere.
For some reason you think I have?
You are full of misinformation.
I should be careful what you post.
The name you kept posting instead of Northernrefugee has been crossed out, did you notice?

Do you want to read the article my husband was reading about internet stalkers?

Personally, I think you're sad.
Delusional.
Desperate.
Afraid.
Covering up.
Chasing fantasies.

How about talking about anthroposophy?

How aboiut discussing WHAT aspects of Steiner's anthroposophy MIGHT be used by a class teacher?
And how the schools could warn parents, in the nicest possible way, of course, that the teachers will use this belief system they are trained in, as judgement ans choices about our kids; rather than, common sense; or human kindness. They will use an anti deluvian crackpot belief to indoctrinate out kids.
Lets discuss that.

DianaW · 14/04/2008 14:07

"It sounds like you, doesn't it?"

No, it doesn't, that's how I know it wasn't me who said it.

There's certainly an anthroposophical way to do Christmas, there are anthroposophical rituals around Christmas, such as the Advent Spiral, but Steiner didn't invent most of that. Steiner didn't invent any holidays to "spread anthroposophy"; he just appropriated various traditions and rituals and claimed credit for understanding their "true" meanings, and anthroposophists frequently think they're celebrating the "real" holiday in a superior way to the ignorant masses. I might have said this sort of thing, I wouldn't have said that Steiner invented Christmas to spread anthroposophy. You probably mixed me up with someone else in the discussion (that's if you didn't just make up the quote, which you've been known to do).

It sounds like it was someone who had recently found out that the celebrations at his or her child's school had meanings that had not been shared with the parents; that even Christmas was not the same there as Christmas as their family understood it but peppered with odd bits that teachers seemed reluctant to explain, and they were pissed off at the failure to explain clearly that the school was anthroposophical and that anthroposophical rituals would consume large parts of their child's time at the Steiner school without the parents' knowledge or consent.

Thebee · 14/04/2008 15:37

DianaW:

"And Christmas, as some of us also recently have found out (those of us who are "Steiner waldorf critics"), also is an anthroposophical festival, founded by Steiner and since long celebrated to in secret spread anthroposophy thoughout the world..."

'It sounds like you, doesn't it?'

No, it doesn't, that's how I know it wasn't me who said it."

You Really REALLY sure you did not write that, and now have forgotten about it - I mean, I may unvoluntarily have misformulated what I remembered... ?-))))

Wouldn't it be a really great scoop for you if you could finally tell the actual truth about Christmas and how Steiner invented it, just to (in secret, as Santa Claus!!) indoctrinate a large part of the population of the Earth with anthroposophy, the same way as is now being done with BD grown grapes for wines, and BD grown wheat and BD grown carrots, slowly in secret converting those who ingest them (covert chemical brainwashing!!) into anthroposophists, whatever that is ..??-))

I mean, Kenneth Chenault, Chairman and CEO of American Express, former Waldorf student at Waldorf School of Garden City clearly has become a covert "anthroposophist", and is now slowly and in secret infusing the American economy with anthroposophy, the same way George Lucas (Waldorf parent and covert anthroposophist!, what d'ye know!) does with American culture.

And as does Jens Stoltenberg, present prime minister of Norway and son of a former Norwegian Minister of Foregin Affairs, does with Norway, and even former Presidential candidate John Kerry (former Waldorf pupil when his father served at the American Consulate in Berlin in the 1950s), had as his secret agenda, if he had succeeded!!!

Anthroposophists here, anthroposophists there, anthroposophists everywhere, like them darned arab terrorists!!!

It really does support the WC-myth, that the actual secret agenda of anthroposophy through Waldorf schools (not told to the parents!) is to train the future rulers of the world, doesn't it ...!

You really sure Santa Claus isn't an anthroposophist too, after all?

easeonline · 14/04/2008 16:06

"You really sure Santa Claus isn't an anthroposophist too, after all?"

Nah, can't be. That dude was strutting his funk before the Michael Age.

We have heard of Kenneth Chenault et al 'cos you keep bringing them up.
Now, do you have anything constuctive to offer these kids? Other than eurythmy and splodge painting that is.
www.waldorfeducation.me.uk/
The kids' fault? The parents' fault?
Couldn't be Waldorf was in the least at fault could it?
Davy

DianaW · 14/04/2008 16:31

Except that I didn't say that, in fact you've more or less admitted you invented the whole quote, so who's ranting raving now?

DianaW · 14/04/2008 16:32

splodge painting LOL.

DianaW · 14/04/2008 16:34

"You Really REALLY sure you did not write that, and now have forgotten about it - I mean, I may unvoluntarily have misformulated what I remembered... ?-))))"

And you wonder why we call you a liar? You invented that quote and put quote marks around it. Now you say you "unvoluntarily misformulated" something you "remembered." Sorry dude, that's called "lying."

Is this how all those celebrity quotes got on your web site? Unvoluntarily misformulating and misremembering? That sounds like a synonym for "anthroposophy."

zzooey · 14/04/2008 17:09

What a hysterical argumentation. First he makes up a quote, then brings in Santa Claus (perhaps an incarnation of Steiner? eh eh?) and Jens Stoltenberg and the other celebs to spice it up.

I think this Rudolf Steiner cult induces an unhealthy focus on Celebrities and Famous People. "oh oh oh" - swoons - worship!

OP posts:
zzooey · 14/04/2008 17:13

Perhaps that's something for our Norwegian friends. Norwegian tabloids take a fervent interest in waldorf weirdness. Politicians with a background in crappy education is more shocking than people like jennifer aniston.

OP posts:
DianaW · 14/04/2008 17:52

"I think this Rudolf Steiner cult induces an unhealthy focus on Celebrities and Famous People. "oh oh oh" - swoons - worship!"

Which is odd because they're anti-media. It's evil for children to watch TV or movies. Yet strangely if a TV or movie star can be found who naively enthuses about Steiner education, this person is some kind of authority. People who, if they weren't rich and famous, anthroposophists wouldn't give the time of day to, as they ought by rights to be on a totally wrong spiritual path, ruining children's innocence etc.

DianaW · 14/04/2008 17:55

Barking that's pretty funny.

I like the critic's comment in that article "What are they going to ban next, snow?"

barking · 14/04/2008 18:02

Hi DianaW - well yes, it needs to be peach blossom!

DianaW · 14/04/2008 18:07

LOL, peach blossom snow

barking · 14/04/2008 18:17

Someone on Mumsnet is bound to know her...

zzooey · 14/04/2008 18:25

"This is a person whose fame comes from her surgically enhanced breasts, according to the article."

Just like waldorf. Fancy surface, bad content.

You REALLY don't know if you actually - or not - have told that the WC-gang

"recently has discovered that Steiner invented Christmas" (the one celebrated at Christmas time, maybe since in the 4th century A.C. ...) to in secret spread anthroposophy ..."

until I with 1000 smileys sort it out to you, so you can be 150% clear about it and what to think of it ...

And even after that, in addition, you're still not actually sure about if you have not said something similar, that I may have misremembered ...

You do have problems,

Janni · 14/04/2008 20:28

Thebee - your last post was utterly unintelligible. I thought you might like to know
