I overheard someone who works at my kids school slagging the school off

she is not a teacher or a TA but does work at the school part-time and I overheard her dissing the school bigtime today...
should I say something to the head? as a parent governor I feel some responsibility and loyalty (and I actually rate the school highly!).

I know someone that works part time for our school (after school club) who cant stand the head and will slag her to everyone

she loves the kids though

it isnt a cult you are allowed to criticise your workplace you know

what your school policy says you are not allowed to criticise the shcool

Depends how and where it was overheard too. People are entitled to have private thoughts and feelings, surely?

As in all jobs, people often like to vent steam and get fed up. It doesn't matter where the job is. There are times that kids? teachers? LSAs can be obnoxious even in the best of schools.

Ask yourself if you have ever felt pissed off with your boss? Is it better for her to verbally relieve her frustation by talking with friends or take it out on the children? Prehaps the person in the wrong is you eavesdropping on someone else's conversation.

Provided that she has not broken terms of confidentally by mentioning specific children who have been awful, I don't think you should mention it.

I slagged off my old workplace loads of times...or should I say I slagged off the management of the workplace - the way the residents were cared for was exceptional and I have no qualms about that -but I'd never suggest anyone I know goes to work there.....

understand your points of view, however, she was talking publicly and quite loudly outside the reception office to another parent, and in front of other parents waiting to see people in the office.

Most people who work in a school are too knacked to consider sex at this point of the term!

I think it's out of order as it was in a public place. YOu can be dismissed for 'loss of confidence' and this would come under that ( though not from a one-off incidednt obviously)

She's taking the risk being so public with her negative comments.

I know a deputy head who is always getting drunk and vomiting in the street and yes, even wetting herself while heaped drunkenly outside her front door. I'm amazed she doesn't get reported for bringing her school into disrepute tbh.
