I overheard someone who works at my kids school slagging the school off

she is not a teacher or a TA but does work at the school part-time and I overheard her dissing the school bigtime today...
should I say something to the head? as a parent governor I feel some responsibility and loyalty (and I actually rate the school highly!).

FARK thats a good name

wessexgirl · 11/12/2007 20:38

You've only to go into the staff room in most schools to hear slagging off robust criticism of the place. Expressing an opinion is not the same as moonlighting as a stripper (which happened in one school I know of).

icod4by4 · 11/12/2007 20:38

sleighbell all she needs is to come tot he mag court

we had one in tears recently for drivign no insurance
oh god she wa s sorry

bagpussmice · 11/12/2007 20:39

to slag off your workplace outside of work is okay but not in front of parents surely?

SSStollenzeit · 11/12/2007 20:39

God that's an oversight, not renewing your insurance. I can see how someone drunk might be drunk enough to drink-drive, but not renewing your insurance is something you would normally do when you're sober, so it's not even an "under the influence" offence. (Unless of course, you were drunk for weeks before it was due to be renewed!)

wessexgirl · 11/12/2007 20:42

Agree, weird to do it outside office with parents around. Sounds like she might be on the way out then, and doesn't care who knows it.

bagpussmice · 11/12/2007 20:42

she must have know everyone could hear her, and yes, hope she does leave very soon!

if its something you "overheard" you may not know the whole story! I rate my kids school highly but have been known to moan about a situation or a teacher occasionally. Doesnt everyone??

Maybe you would have been better to say "oh sorry couldnt help overhearing, I'd be interested in your feedback, if you want we could have a coffee and discuss it." or "oh sorry couldnt help overhearing you I think the schools great, my kids love it here"

She might not be chuffed to hear that a govennor was listening in on her private conversations.

EniDeepMidwinter · 11/12/2007 20:45

WHY DO YOU CARE [genuinely baffled emoticon]

bagpussmice · 11/12/2007 20:45

if it was a private conversation she shouldn't have been talking so loudly outside the school office in front of other parents, I couldn't help but hear the whole conversation and was not eavesdropping.

I suppose that most the people where I work are about 50. I have no idea if any of them wear a G-string.

However our head teacher is openly gay and 100% proud of it. All the kids and staff know that he has a long term male partner who often attends school functions.

Prehaps that why our school is just "good" in OFSTED speak.

Its great because it teaches the kids that homosexuals are real people and there is no way that they would dare to make homophobic comments.

EniDeepMidwinter · 11/12/2007 20:50

by the way you are a parent goveerner, not her boss

leave it

bagpussmice · 11/12/2007 20:55

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING ENID!
I only asked for people's opinions, there is no need to be rude.

I thought it was an open forum on here to discuss opinions with each other politely [genuinely fairly disgruntled emoticon]

bagpussmice · 11/12/2007 21:03

maybe it's a changed forum then since I joined a few years ago, not been around for a while. I think I shall stay away this time.

A lunchtime supervisor was recently erm 'let go' at our school.
She has told everyone that it was because she went to the loo whilst on duty, however, I am inclined to believe that all the bad mouthing about the school that she did at the top of her voice to anyone who would listen, was actually the real reason.

EniDeepMidwinter · 11/12/2007 21:16

what was she actually saying?

sorry if you thought i was being rude, spose I was really, but genuinely cant see how you have the time and/or energy to take this up
