... THEN boco tried to tackle it but basically everyone thought she was some crazy woman with Isshooes and the birthday table was perfectly reasonable

THEN one morning Boco comes in with her little girl and some child runs up to her and says "haha I've got a birthday table and you're not invited" and it turns out that of the 12 girls in teh class, Bocobaby is MISSED OUT OF THE BIRTHDAY TABLE!

HOW EVIL IS THAT?

Dinosaur · 23/11/2007 10:38

Nice one LordVenger. Look forward to dancing on the pyre of burning birthday tables.

'tis a shame though because I just just finish hand whittling this lovely long spike commissioned by the Tower of London

Dinosaur · 23/11/2007 10:40

Can't you use it for Caitlin Moran, morningpaper?

tissy · 23/11/2007 10:41
Smile
morningpaper · 23/11/2007 10:41

Gosh I hadn't thought of that

LordVenger · 23/11/2007 10:41

Well I can do it either way - just do it as a "blind" piece without mentioning the school, or 2) mention the school. we'd do a link to on-line and the feedback would be immense, just as it has been here - no human alive would read about it without feeling a tiny bit stab-y.

Agree it is a horrible horrible idea but not sure what publicity will do other than single boco and her DD out.

Difficult one.

QuintessentialShadow · 23/11/2007 10:42

That is absolutely horrid. What has birthday celebrations to do with school? Are schools now partyorganizers?

Either the whole class, if it happens in school, or nobody. Otherwise it is singling out some, and children have enough of a hard time working out the friendship thing anyway. The school should support all the children. The school should not take part in segretation, unequal treatment of children, and should not take part in alienating children and meddling in the social structure of party politics. It is not in the schools interest, it is not in the childrens interest, and for sure it does not help a child who is already struggling to be singled out as unpopular and unworty. What has that got to do with education?

sorry ramble

LordVenger · 23/11/2007 10:42

Hahaha Dinosaur then does enigmatic Bruce wayne face

Wisteria · 23/11/2007 10:42

oooh - how exciting, I always knew we had the power to change the world [grins]

Go for it LVenger and don't hold back (you might need to bang a definition of empathy in there as the Mums in favour have clearly been bypassed on that particular emotion )

foxinsocks · 23/11/2007 10:43

OK

Boco is in toddler group

then she's going swimming with her children

THEN she's coming on here this afternoon

lissielewzealand · 23/11/2007 10:43

god, thats sounds dreadful!

Dinosaur · 23/11/2007 10:44

Do we know if any other schools have this sick "birthday celebration"? Obviously it's easier to do a piece on it if it happens up and down the land.

morningpaper · 23/11/2007 10:45

Lordy she is spending TOO MUCH TIME with her children

LordVenger · 23/11/2007 10:45

Alas, my deadline is midday. I should probably leave it until next week, so I can see if she wants the school mentioned or not. I think she should - just because I should imagine OFSTED would be down on it like a ton of bricks

hunkermunker · 23/11/2007 10:45

Marvellous, LV

Cod, if Ofsted really said " we cnanto intervene in personal issue you haev wiht the school" no wonder standards are slipping.

Mind you, I've not put my trousers on yet this morning, so I can't really talk.
