I'm just popping in because I thought of another character trait, which isn't an essential for doing the job at all but would make it easier to get to the top of the tree in lawyering (& more fun being there)

  • which is positively wanting to be & enjoying being the person at whom the buck stops.

It's a potentially tricky character trait, as it makes the early years of one's career much more frustrating & annoying (as you are continually being impatient with rubbish (as you see them) elders, & authority generally) but you need to have that so's to really enjoy dominating meetings ...
