I’ve had so much fun lurking on the entrance test threads in the last years - now it’s my son’s turn .
Still 10 days to go but I’m starting the thread .
Sitting a couple of other schools as well so maybe we could start a general ‘ Surrey entrance exams ‘ thread ( fun ;-)! )
DS ‘s first exam is in two days time .
He’s preparing himself by playing computer games . I let it go as I don’t believe in prepping children too much for these exams - . I just want him to be relaxed .

The postie has been and gone and nothing yet from RGS here. Although leaping to check each day, I think it's likely that they will post the No letters out tomorrow so that they arrive Friday and Saturday. Finding the waiting hard as think it will be a No, but would love it to be a Yes.

Hello, I have had letter a few days. My boy likes this school the best, so pleased he has an interview. I think these interviews are for borderline candidates though? Wonder how many places to candidates there are?

Sophie42 yes my son has done it .
They all got different questions , the ones they struggled with . So make your son remember . Put him under hypnosis or something :-).
They just got little groups of them and gave them a paper to do . They were allowed to asked questions but my silly one was too shy .

I have no idea how many places . We will find out the 8th of Februar- later even as that’s when the letters are posted isn’t it ?

Our son received a scholarship invitation yesterday. Best of luck to all who have gone or will be going for the second interview. Really feeling for those who haven’t received anything yet!

I have asked the question re number of places before and was told 100-120 at 11+ with c 400 sitting the exam. However, I’m assuming within that 400 some are trying for 13+ entry and no idea how many they take then?

2 classes at 13+ so I suppose 40-50 boys.

And some came all the way from south west London , so will take a place in a School nearby if offered a place , be positive!

The No's came out in a couple of batches in previous years just to add to the pain, hopefully they have stopped doing that as it is a bit tough. I don't think the school heads are given an in or out decision they are just given the exam scores. It is because RGS does not want to field phone calls from parents, it says on all the info any questions about exam results should be directed to your current headmaster

Hopefully ! The headmaster is very aware of the stress many people experience these days .
I’m hoping to get good news from Reeds today .
If that’s good news , I will be happy and much relaxed .

Rianna - the suspense is killing me and we’re not even down to go! Keep us posted everyone! It seems to be a very long drawn out process at RGS compared to the schools we’ve been applying to. We now have our results - just waiting on scholarship news! Smile

Malbec mummy ( nice name btw ! ) that’s so great you know you’re in . Don’t worry about the scholarship . It’s a nice recognition of what you’ve been telling your aunties since he was little - your son really is gifted - but the discount of the fees isn’t that much and all they do is a scholarships- boys dinner and a day out a year - but last years was cancelled . It’s of course great to get a scholarship but not the end of the world if you don’t . You and your son can relax !
