Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

SBmum2017 Thank you - we are still waiting to hear for 11+ and 13+ no letters call or e-mails!!!!

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 12:59

No wooodlysmum - we haven't done much preparation for 10+ . Yes I am doing prep for 11+ For september 2017 and started from August holidays with him and took the tests as mock ones to see how he is performing and by all means if would have secured a good offer we would have accepted it too .
DS is just an above average / good student who is doing fairly alright in school and sports . He is a bright boy for sure only if he intends to put his mind to something he can do brilliant- But also tends to be lazy sometimes which again is a common problem with all the boys . So I would say with xtra push he can do better than what he is doing at the moment!
Saying that no emails no phone calls yet !!! Has anyone received any emails for sports assessment yet ?

Wimbles101 · 13/01/2017 13:03

Quick query - someone mentioned offers are made on Offers day - is that National Offers Day in March - seems odd for an independent to do it on the same day as the state schools...

LIZS · 13/01/2017 13:07

No the independents share a date in February, usually the Friday before or during half term. Should be on the admissions area of the website.

DIN2K · 13/01/2017 13:29

Offers day is Friday 9 February, ladies.
Still a long long long way away!

Gettingthroughtheweek · 13/01/2017 13:36

Just had email advising DS will have an interview (Trinity 10+) - date to be arranged. Phew. No news yet on extra curricular assessment but I think I'll be optimistic and assume that will go ahead, as the original letter with dates did seem to indicate that if he did well enough to be invited to interview then he would be invited to the assessment day. Just got to get time off work sorted now....

Jige · 13/01/2017 13:56

Gettingthroughtheweek congrats on getting an invite from T! I have just received an email as well to inform me that DS (T 10+) has been invited for an interview and that they will call withinn the next 2 wks to arrange a date and time. I'm so pleased just hope others who are also waiting for some communication of an invite get some notification soon.

But this also means waiting for that phone call 😳 and the joy of carrying my phones around with me!

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 14:01

Hi Mums,

I also got the same email minutes back with same wording . I am also told that they will contact me separately for the sports assessment as soon as possible . Some relief now and my DS will be super excited to get atleast to the next phase of interviews soon and the sports assessment which he is so eagerly waiting for . Thanks to all the mums for all your support and am wishing that all the children do well and get the school they want to ..

Jige · 13/01/2017 14:04

Awwww so pleased for you sbmum2017 as this is you DS's favourite, he is going to be very pleased with the news. You both will sleep well tonight!

panick2016 · 13/01/2017 14:11

Hi ladies, i also received the email and just got a phone call a few minutes ago. Unfortunately its a Saturday interview so am devastated....we cannot afford to send him without a scholarship :(

LIZS · 13/01/2017 14:14

I'm not sure you should necessarily read that much into the timing of the interview. Heads have changed recently so policy may now differ.

Anxiouslywaiting1 · 13/01/2017 14:25

Received an email yay!!! Will be contacted within the next two weeks!
So pleased!!! Good luck and well done to everybody!!!

Jige · 13/01/2017 14:32

Panick2016 firstly congrats on getting a interview invite. But don't panick and think the worst because it's a Saturday interview. T have a new head and things may have changed in the way they interview the boys. Also in a previous thread I'm sure I read that the parents have been interviewed and that they were sought out and this was on a Saturday. Stay positive, and if in doubt I suppose you can always ask admissions if there is a chance of your DS getting any kind of a scholarship.

ChocolateWombat · 13/01/2017 14:36

Hello, not one of the schools in title, but very nearby, so hope you don't mind me joining.

Just heard we have an interview at Reigate Grammar on Sat 28th as well as a scholarship assessment day this coming week. Heard by letter and had been told we would hear by letter at the end of this week, so although waiting has been hard, we haven't had the open ended waiting that lots of you are going through.

Letter was full of congratulations at having reached interview stage and scholarship assessment. I just wonder now what proportion of those being interviewed get offers. I am relieved but feel a bit wrung out by the whole thing.

DIN2K · 13/01/2017 14:43

well done SBmum2017, Chocolatewombat, Anxiously, Panick, Jige, Getting - you must be on cloud nine!

Have any of you also done Kingston 11+?

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 15:20

Thanks Mums ,

Yes will sleep peacefully tonite hugging a happy child :-) I don't know what interview - scholarship - no scholarship - weekday - weekend what he will be considered for -all I know is he was confident to get an interview call/ email and that's what matters to me the most .. now even if he is not considered for anything this year - not even a place - we will take it on our stride and will have next whole year to work hard for the 11+ next year Jan .
:-)
Hugs x

Missmillsie · 13/01/2017 15:56

Hey all!!

Fantastic to see all the interview invites! Woo hoo! Too many to mention but heartfelt congrats xx

Mrspatmore... any news? Xx

Pingput29 · 13/01/2017 16:06

Congrats all round, I am so pleased for y all and your DS's. I hope the interviews and assessments go briliantly. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

We will all be a little greyer after this!!

We have not heard from Whitgift 11+, feeling pretty despondent now esp after the no from T. Last exam is tomorrow. I guess what will be will be. We could not have worked DS any harder.

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 16:07

Sports assessment email came thru - for all the mums who got the calls emails - congrats and to all who is hanging there still - it's very very hopeful as you haven't received any " no offer " letters . It has been stressful
And I can imagine how stress it is for you too but just hanging there for a little while and you will get the positive news soon !!
Hugs
X

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 16:08

Please ignore the typos !

woodlysmum · 13/01/2017 16:23

That's good re sports assessment Sbmum. No drama email yet! Confused

sbmum2017 · 13/01/2017 16:40

Woodlysmum - you will receive it by tomorrow or max by Monday . Drama is on Wednesday And by all means you can call them by Monday if you don't hear anything from them . With so many candidates probably more than what they were expecting maybe I think they are a bit lost . !!

woodlysmum · 13/01/2017 16:42

Drama is Tuesday!!!

mamanm · 13/01/2017 16:44

Glad to hear so many calls/emails today - great news before weekend for quite a few here! Re: interviews - our experience: I don't know how it will be this year for our 10+ DS, but for our oldest DS his 10+ at T. was midweek interview (bordeline case, I guess, as we did not get an offer, though, but to be fair we did not prepare for the tests much at the time) and for 11+ - Sat interview (no scholarship offer) which confirms the sort of rule of midweek interviews being for scholarships and those who are borderline and Sat - for those boys who performed very well at the tests for a good firm offer but not brilliant to be considered for a scholarship. When our oldest DS had a Sat interview at T. for 11+, it was not with a senior member of staff and fairly short, mostly good chat and parents were gathered all together in a large group mixing and chatting with a few senior staff including the head. Would be interesting if the same principle carries on this year at T.

woodlysmum · 13/01/2017 16:54

Mamanm when they called me today I was given the impression that that they would be following exactly the same format on Saturdays this year...
