Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

No phone calls from T and we are completely gutted . DS is more gutted and I guess somehow he is also preparing himself for the worst now .
Had whitgift interview in the late afternoon - evening almost . It was not with HM . It was in the sports building with deputy head of the lower school .
DS was asked few general questions and couple of maths Puzzles . Don't know what that means . We were told they are looking for an overall all round scholarship for him . I don't know whether it's a clear indication of no academic scholarship or his written scores and sports all will be counted for him to be considered a place/ scholarship . He will be assessed for sports too . . We were told he has done very well in all subjects and though we were scared about his English - it was his best one out of maths, VR and English .

Overall a mixed day for us . We were not considering W at all given the fees which puts us off completely but with almost no hopes left for Trinity , we are bit gutted and will have to wait to see if he manages any scholarship at all from W and whether we can afford it really . At this point even a paid seat will be a moral support for him and to take something positive for next year I think given the way he is so upset about T , which has always been his first choice and probably only choice .

Oh wow Sbmum that is amazing that your DS is being considered for an all-round scholarship- the best you can get!!!
Well done to him!
I am sure good news will be coming from T too then!
What is his sport for the sports scholarship?
Seems even if he doesn't get the sports one he is in for a very good chance for an solely academic one.

We were in the boarders building - not the sports hall, not the hm office! Wonder what it all means! Fingers crossed! Just waiting now. Haven't heard from T yet. It is closer and I would like it but ds liked w better.

Sorry, got home from work not long ago - have not seen this thread all day - seems like million messages here already! - sincere congrats to those who receieved calls/emails - I know it is such a relief; those who are still waiting in agony - just hang on there - hopefully phone will be ringing tomorow morning! Interesting to read about interviews - sbmum2017: we had very similar feedback in the past with our older son (interview was also with a W. deputy head) - but we had a full fee offer in the end from W. I am under impression that very limited number of boys get a really good scholarship offer that would make a difference financially. Have you applied for bursary as that can help too?

Woodlysmum - frankly speaking I don't know whether that is their usual way of saying no to academic scholarship as when we asked specifically for academic scholarship he mentioned we are looking at him as an all round scholar and even wrote it down in his application in front of us . Now whether it's a very polite way of saying no to academic is very hard for us to understand . It might be a paid place for him unless he is brilliant on his sports day . So I am not being very optimistic about the outcome. Paid seat is almost like a no seat for us except that it will be uplifting for our moral and will take the positives from this year . I guess whatever DS could do he tried and the rest is for next year . The very thought that it's going to be again one whole year of struggle , grammars ( I will collapse :-) ) independent school entrances and again waiting like this !! :-( .. God Bless Us !

Sbmum- allround scholar is better than just academic scholar as it combines academic with sport. You will generally receive a higher percentage fee than if it is just solely academic or solely sport.
But I think at the moment they think he is great for academic scholar but also see him as potential in sport so they are thinking he might get the allround and if the sport doesn't go well maybe just academic! So all good. Plus pretty much sure of paid place...

Going by what you said about your DS @ Mamanm - I will say similar feedback for my son too at this point regards to the interview . Did your DS1 do any sports as well and did he give the sports assessment too ?

Once you have the interviews/assessments etc, you won't hear anything else until offers day. It's a long wait Sad

SBMum and Woodly'sMum - your DSs sound great, and your posts make me think that Trinity are just taking a bit longer to mark the 10+ and process that into the non-academic scholarship assessment processes than they may have hoped; no news could still be good news. Fingers crossed.

If it helps anyone we got our call from Trinity on a Saturday and was in a similar position of having to know for Sports scholarship invite!

After our email yesterday we still haven't had a date for the interview. Would be useful to know!

I got my post today and no letters yet !! Fingers crossed .. even if they just call him for an interview and not Acads , I will be happy for my poor DS who has been waiting eagerly to hear especially all his friends ( 7 of them ) got calls by yesterday and he is the only one waiting !

From what I have read in the past, Saturday interviews are for the non-scholarship boys as its just with a member of admissions staff and they are not bothered about whether both parents go etc

Still no news re drama scholarship though and the lady on the phone said that she didn't know what was happening with that as it is all separate!!

sbmum considering your DS is being thought of as an allrounder at W, I wouldn't be surprised if he is also being considered for an academic scholarship at T

Hi woodlysmum ,
I just got so freaking tired of waiting I gave T a call , no letter by today is 50% happy news 50% bad coz posts can get delayed and have to wait till Saturday morning if I don't get a call today evening . The admin person was very helpful and told me since you haven't receive your post let's be positive for the time being . All non acads assessment emails will be sent out today But I am planning to call them today evening to know if they can give me any details unless I receive any emails or phone call ..
my misery continues ....

Regarding W - I seriously don't know whether it was just a polite no for acads scholarship really . Only good side was that it was good to hear a very positive feedback from the interviewer . And I got the sports assessment letter for Monday for W . So far W has communicated brilliant . T is keeping us hanging and DS is gaga about the school .. he likes it so much that I won't be surprised that if gets any call by any Chance and can get an offer he might choose T over W . But all depends on the phone call !!!! gosh I need a break ..

sbmum I think that as your son is likely to b being considered for a scholarship (going on Whitgift performance) that they probably take longer to sort those midweek interviews but you will hear. Saturday long lists are easier for them to sort. I am sure your son has aced it. Did you do lots of preparation?
