Every year I have watched with interest and excitement as all of these types of threads have progressed to offers.

Finally in the same boat. The Christmas prep is wearing...And couldn't find anyone to share the experience with.... hence this attempt to start one....

Anyone else want to join? If I have missed a school... please feel free to still join in and add your school of interest.

Currently burning the night oil trying to find more comprehension material... anyone have any online suggestions?

Sbmum- we are 10+ T and still no news. No letters or emails.

sbmum2017 · 12/01/2017 14:44

Have you applied for any non academic scholarship @anxiouslywaiting1 ?

sbmum2017 · 12/01/2017 14:48

I am at the end of my wits and don't know when should I call them . I know the no offer letter should reach by tomorrow for anyone who hasn't done good enough though and no call at this moment is making me nervous as it's forcing me to think about the negative outcome .

Anxiouslywaiting1 · 12/01/2017 14:53

No, we just put DS in for entrance exams this time around. So am hoping that we get a phone call next week, fingers crossed. If not then we"ll try again next year. Love Trinity and it's my DSs first choice. Trying to psyche myself up in case a letter arrives tomorrow or Saturday. Hopefully no offer letters will arrive by then.
How about you sbmum, have you applied for non academic scholarship ?

Anxiouslywaiting1 · 12/01/2017 14:56

Sb - no offer letters might still be posted tomorrow. Try to stay calm and hopefully you'll be called soon if you've applied for a non academic scholarship x

sbmum2017 · 12/01/2017 15:12

have applied for sports which is on Tuesday . So ideally if he was to be considered I would have received an email or phone call by now . Hence it makes me more nervous .

Missmillsie · 12/01/2017 15:27

Thank you all for your well wishes! 😘

Woodlysmum, I think I may have got my wires mixed up as does a non academic scholarship mean just a normal entrance exam cos that's what we did xx

Anxiouslywaiting1 · 12/01/2017 15:42

I hope your phone call comes tonight or tomorrow sbmum. 👍

GEM72 · 12/01/2017 15:47

Just had call from T for 10+ interview - so relieved and DS will be thrilled! He'll be doing the sports assessment on Tuesday too.

We have been watching this thread with interest, not sure it helped or not with stress levels but appreciated everyone's comments/opinions etc.

Good luck - hope you all hear soon!

sbmum2017 · 12/01/2017 15:52

Congrats Gem72 .. approx when did you get a call ? Sorry for being so inquisitive I am just desperately trying to assess the situation for my DS

GEM72 · 12/01/2017 15:57

sbmum2017 - it was just after 3pm. Fingers crossed for you.

sbmum2017 · 12/01/2017 16:19

Thanks Gem72 .. I am preparing for the worst now .. I am just taking it as just the last night of the ordeal where I will get to know tomorrow afternoon . Thanks mums and wishing all the children all the very best !

woodlysmum · 12/01/2017 16:21

Congrats to your DS Gem!

I am feeling more and more worried. Thinking it must be a no since we haven't heard re drama yet 😭😭😭 Thinking my DS must've missed out whole pages of the test.

Jige · 12/01/2017 16:25

Congrats to all who have heard from T regards interviews.

My DS did the 10+ and we are yet to hear from T. The waiting game is killing me!

SweetGrapes · 12/01/2017 16:32

Just back from Whitgift. Had the interview. Was not the headmaster so was in the boarders building. Quite a few boys/parents waiting in the HM area. Some had applied for sports scholarship. Definitely a mixed bunch so I wouldn't read a lot into timing.
Ds did okay. We were told he is not in the running for a substantial scholarship but obviously will need to wait to hear if he gets an offer and any scholarship.
As pp had mentioned the high achievers and the edge cases etc get to see the hm. DS was possibly somewhere in the middle.
Lets see what happens. He has done his best - now what will be will be!

Missmillsie · 12/01/2017 17:03

Well done Sweetgrapes... now just have to wait for the thick A4 envelope to arrive ☺

What questions did they ask if you don't mind telling us? And did they ask you anything? Xx

Gettingthroughtheweek · 12/01/2017 17:08

Woodly's mum - no news here either re the 10+ drama scholarship assessment. But we knew the academic was likely to be a big hurdle, so the radio silence isn't too surprising. I think we have until Saturday post to receive formal confirmation - let's hope weather problems don't delay the post and we can then move on......

CSLewis · 12/01/2017 17:25

Hi all,

I live in South London and my eldest son is in Year 5, 'gifted and talented'. Could someone please quickly tell me about the schools that this thread refers to? I gather they are fee-paying, but what about all these scholarships? Are they all academically selective? Does everyone pay some/differing proportions of the fees? TIA, and I hope those of you still waiting to hear about places receive news soon Flowers

Wimbles101 · 12/01/2017 17:30

Hope you all have some news soon Confused

Does anyone have any insight into the Trinity interview pls?

DS can be a bit shy but he's working on it -?once he's on a topic he likes he's usually fine - just wondering how academic it will
Be and whether to brush him up on current affairs or books he likes and why?

Thanks all - thinking of everyone still in limbo xx

woodlysmum · 12/01/2017 18:18

Gettingthroughtheweek agh its so hard isn't it!!
I thought my DS would be okayish to at least get an interview and now just wondering where it all went wrong. He worked hard to prep for it (was getting good scores in Bond papers), his Year 4 school report was great and I am pretty sure his teacher would give him an excellent reference. He seemed to think the tests went well and finished all the papers. I guess everyone else must be on a different level.
He really, really, really loves Trinity but I am not sure how we could do more academically wise to prepare than we have this time, so thoughts of the 11 plus now fill me with dread :'-(

Missmillsie · 12/01/2017 18:43

Woodlysmum, it's not over yet! They have to mark so many I bet. I'm sure you will get your good news tomorrow! Xx

Missmillsie · 12/01/2017 18:45

So after the interview, what news can we expect?

Is it just offer or no offer? We've applied for a bursary too.

Xx

MrsPatmore · 12/01/2017 18:49

Great news Missmillsie and good luck!
Sorry I don't know what happens after the interview as first time for us too.

MrsPatmore · 12/01/2017 18:54

Hang on in there Woodlysmum! Hopefully tomorrow will bring news. For the 11+ we started on Bond books in year 5 but found they weren't really the right standard. We moved on to CGP, First Past the Post and the GL papers. Ds also sat the big mocks at Sutton which were really helpful in telling us where he sat in the cohort and highlighted gaps we then worked on over the summer. The grammar school tests are becoming crazily competitive!

SweetGrapes · 12/01/2017 20:37

Questions asked at W : why do you like the school? DS's interests, what he likes - sports, music etc. He was Also asked a simple maths question (squares, cubes - mental maths type things.
