Who is waiting for Primary School admission confirmation letters ?

I am. Nerve wracking stuff. The letters go out at the end of this month, according to the bloke I spoke to in admissions at my LEA.

Our choice of school is by no means guaranteed. We originally applied in late Jan (the closing date for applications was early Feb) for a school nearby (but not in catchment). Then we sold our house stc and had an offer accepted on another house in a different area (still in the same city though). Phoned the LEA and was told that I could ammend my application to the catchment school of the new house, which is a fab school, before exchange of contracts, but I still wouldn't be guaranteed a place. A) because it's over-subscribed anyway B) because my application would be a 'late application' and therefore would not be a priority and C) because we haven't actually got anything legally binding us to the address (although I included the memorandum of sale in with my change of application letter).

God knows what'll happen, ho-hum.

kid · 04/05/2006 21:32

We got our first (and only) choice. I was expecting to get it, but relieved to have it in writing Smile

hoxtonchick · 04/05/2006 21:33

Gem13 · 04/05/2006 21:34

I'm still waiting...

kid · 04/05/2006 21:35

Hi HC, our letter came today, I wondered if you got your letter too. Which one was your 2nd choice? (just say first letter if you like)
C is annoyed that he has to wait till Jan to start when most of his friends will go in Sept.

hoxtonchick · 04/05/2006 21:50

m will be going to q in september kid. along with quite a few from his nursery i think. relieved that we know.

kid · 04/05/2006 22:06

I like that school, a good choice I think! Grin and on the way to taking F.

hoxtonchick · 04/05/2006 22:06

exactly! they are having 2 reception classes this year i think.

sparkler1 · 04/05/2006 22:09

We had our acceptance letter weeks ago. Got our first choice. This morning we received letters confirming a meeting date in a couple of weeks for parents with reception teachers to discuss what our children will be doing throughout their first year.

kid · 04/05/2006 22:11

I go there for my training courses.
They opened up to juniors when another local school shut down, so at least you won't have to worry about finding a junior school too.

I'm a bit concerned about the number of teachers that might be leaving DD's school this year Sad They really are a good bunch of teachers and it will be a shame to lose them if they do decide to go.

We have to send our acceptance letter back by 19th May, not much notice considering it took them months to let us know! (I know they had to place lots of children but thats beside the point!)

Hurray!!! We got our first choices in both of the boroughs we applied in (we live on the border). MIL is very, very pleased. Grin

KBear · 05/05/2006 11:07

Got our letter this week too - DS starting reception and DD starting juniors (separate school albeit next door so had to apply for her too - ridiculous system but keeps admin officers in a job I suppose!).

Snap Slug. Two first choices. Feel very lucky. Hard decsion now or easy? Wrestled a tiny bit here but knew in my heart of hearts.
