We have registered our 10 year old daughter to write the secondary school entrance exams in January 2013. Can anyone please recommend any private tutors who are specialised in this particular entrance exam? Thanks.

Awwww I'm sorry. We are expecting our rejection this morning also. Let's just invest in Man High. And who knows maybe our daughters will end up being best friends there!

@papagei 13, @wotsit123 - am sorry about you not hearing from WGS. Hope your daughters are ok. Tbh I am finding my daughter is far less concerned about any of this than I am. Hope it's the same for you!! If DD1 gets an offer from both I am going to leave the choice 100pc down to her. I have to say though, MHSG gets fabulous results in an environment that seems to be backed by brilliant facilities and a very nurturing ethos. Somehow it gets looked at by some as a poor relation to WGS. I don't think this at all and I suspect this is because it's so hard to get into- surely directly relating to it having such a tiny intake. My heart says MHSG is a very good choice. Let's just hope all our girls get somewhere where they are happy and settled and achieve their potential. Fingers crossed for all. X

We received our rejection this morning. It didn't take a feather out of my daughter. All my worry was in vain! I must say what a lovely supportive thread this has been. I don't normally engage with these things but some of the comments have really helped me through a stressful time. Thanks in particular to Dizzymum! Good luck to everyone!

My daughter had her interview this morning...they said they'd had a bumper crop of applicants so it was good that she'd gotten as far as the interview process...I kind of felt this probably meant she may not get an offer, but who knows! Roll on 2 March.

My daughters interview is tomorrow. I'm petrified!

Only just saw this, very best of luck to your DD!

They may ask her to tell them about herself, what she enjoys doing out of school (extra curricular etc), what books she likes reading, why she'd like to come to the school, stuff like that.

Eek, really really hope she enjoys it and gets the best outcome.

hi evereveryone
I have been following the post from a long time and find them very helpful. My daughter sat in Wgs, Stockport and Man high and passed all 3. We had a call from was very late though.she has had her interview at stockport which she said was just a chitchat about her hobbies and what she likes doing .And if she had applied in other schools. although she was in the interview room for a long time. reading all abt withington has now stressed me out. I always had a feeling from the feedback of parents that man highs interview is difficult but not the exam and withington s exam is a tough one to get through but not the interview. Please could you guys advise on withingtons interview specially those mums whose kids have already had their interview this year. Thanking you in anticipation. Smile

Hi

Can anyone help with JUNIOR exams/interviews? I'm just wondering what the expected academic level is, for example SATS year 3. My daughter got mostly level 4. Numeracy is a weaker subject for her, does this matter or are the girls expected to reach a high standard across all subjects?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Hi sabah1978 my daughter had her withington interview last week, MHSG interview yesterday and CHS nxt week. The two interviews attended asked her what she liked to read/extra curricular interests and what she enjoys at her currents school. We were asked if he had any questions too. My daughter wasn't phased by the interviews. Hope that helpsSmile
